bosman would have probably broken 400k if he hadn't made the baffling choice of forcing goldblums every decent run. don't remember him ever doing that before.

I for one liked that he took a more agressive approach this time, the other days he was doing the 1s and 2s way too soon.

Also,i broke 300k, yass!

DmC was okay, but it was clearly inferior to 3 and 4. 30fps, less complex combat mechanics, unbalanced weapons and dumb design decisions like the fire and ice enemies and soft lock-on. That is not what anyone wanted or expected from a new game. The remaster did improve these issues, but it was remastered along DMC4 which was again the superior game. DMC5 needs to take inspiration from 4SE. DmC2 needs to not happen and honestly I doubt Ninja Theory would want to work on it anyways.

I dunno dude, the worst reviewed version of Definitive Edition sits at 83 metascore and the best reviewed version of Special Edition sits at 76 metascore. And SE was 15$/€ cheaper too.

i had a fluke run and beat my own personal record too last night

thought it would bode well for bossy too but it wasn't meant to be

i don't know if playing tetris while watching someone play tetris makes sense at all but anytime i tune in it's what ends up happening

Duuude, you should be Bosman coach, you defeated him,

I hope that 10 hour steam isn't "lets play videogames for 10 hours straight".

What's wrong with that?

It's weird, I was never a fan of their Just Played-series and always prefered their produced videos, but with their recent Mafia 3-preview...

While it was entertaining, I instantly distrusted everything said there. Huber(?) explaining it himself would have given it a certainly trustworthy-ness, that just not there with Jones reading what is half light-criticism of "could be bad/could be good" and half PR-gibberish. Mhhh. But since the content, or what is being said, would probably be the same, it might just be me. Still...

On Mafia 3 in general: I know I would probably like, be it a 7 or 9 game in the end, but I don't want to dish out 70€ for the third entry in a series I've never played before - and I have no interest or opportunity to go back. :-/

You don't like a preview for being a preview. Go figure.

haaa, i usually score under 200k so like i said that was a total fluke. my scores didn't start getting better until i started using the bosman method, including occasionally plugging the wall! really need to stop being lazy and get a controller though, using arrow keys and a single keyboard button definitely hurts.

edit: see below for an actual pro

DMC2 is.

I guess the reason DMC3 was so far below DMC1 in metascore can be explained by that as well. Because DMC1>DMC3 :3

I was counting the Trilogy. Though even if you don't, there's only a 100k difference between DMC2 and DmC.

And yeah, DMC1's my favourite too but I can acknowledge I'm in the minority on that.

LOL, it was Ben. It's in the description. I guess we need to go back to putting the writer on screen.

My bad, the second line blends into the Youtube Gaming ad on first glance, so I missed that bit. I just knew Huber didn't do it.

Man Huber was so disappointing on the podcast. All that talk about feeling inferior about having a normal PS4 and being pushed to buy a 4k TV.
That's not a good reason to buy a new console.

Yeah Huber shouldn't buy it imo. Not something you should really worry about... like if you have a 980Ti already, sure a 1080 would be cool but you don't really need it.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Huber's one character flaw is that he is a raccoon that loves scarfing Ninja Theory's dog rough gutter trash. He is the Rigby to Brad's Mordecai.

That'd be cool. I watch via PS4 and there's no description there.

I remember saying "sounds like bullshit" when some MS exec said something.

I got banned for 2 weeks for that.

2 weeks.

A month after Deadpool came out, I got a 1 month ban for saying *Warning, official Neogaf sanctioned Deadpool Spoiler follows*
Deadpool gets fucked by his GF in the movie
in a thread.
Spoiler culture off the hook.

400k is a physical barrier, as impenetrable as the speed of light. Tetris' resistance grows exponentially the closer Kyle gets to that mythical score. He will never break it. It is futile.

i feel everytime he fails it's because he's still searching for a tetris instead of going for "rivers and lakes"
you either step up your mashing skills or give up on 4 lines tetris

I think you probably perceive the criticism as "light" because, well, I only got to spend a short time with the game. It's hard to write pages and pages on something you don't have a full understanding of yet. As far as "half PR-gibberish" I'm not sure what you mean. I don't think explaining features of the game or being positive is equivalent to gibberish. Perhaps it feels this way because of a disconnect between the reader and writer, as you mentioned. Even then, "instantly" distrusting the preview seems odd to me. There's real concern expressed in the piece but it's correctly stated that these things could change given more time. I don't believe that is being too forgiving, just realistic.

Just played DmC and replayed the entire Devil May Cry series. Phew!

Devil May Cry 1: 6.5/10
Devil May Cry 2: 4.0/10
Devil May Cry 3: 8.5/10
Devil May Cry 4: 7.5/10
DmC: 8.0/10

Definitely different than I remember in many ways. The camera and dodge mechanics of this franchise are a nightmare for sure, but Dante is a lot of fun to play as. Kinda frustrates me that the only thing Devil May Cry 2 did right with a single button dodge wasn't used in 3 or 4.

I liked DmC. It wasn't perfect by any means, but I had a ton of fun with it. Glad that they moved past emo Dante in the beginning fairly quickly. I can certainly understand why some may dislike it for the change in design though. It's pretty much a linear experience with no puzzle mechanics. Fun bosses and a good story though.

Bosman v Woz was great again this week, the DK music made for a really jolly time. Also nice to see that my man Kyle is on the right side of the DmC issue. Best EZA member.

I hope we get another Mario Party match at the 10h stream. This time with max turns.

Also Quiplash for another murder of comedy.

Quiplash 2 in The Jack Box Party Pack 3 (out sometime this Fall) will allow you to create your own prompts (just like Drawful 2 does). Also, as for the stream, I think Don't Starve Together would be fun. I don't know what the player limit is (probably 4, as you can do local splitscreen).

A general problem with Previews, yes.
Well, yes. That's a preview. And that's why produced previews like that irk me apparently, heh.
As far as "half PR-gibberish" I'm not sure what you mean. I don't think explaining features of the game or being positive is equivalent to gibberish.
Your critism is "light", but you pointing out certain positives is rather definitive - taken together, that's probably were my disconnect comes from. And just to be clear: I am not accusing you of anything at all here, I tend to believe you when you say X and Y is good or bad, because I "know" you as an internet personality, but I'm merely describing how a preview can be perceived and why. That is not news, one only has to look at others like Jim Sterling, refusing to participate in the Preview process or Kotaku (I think, they still have the stance of reporting after the fact about a game?), but just something I felt about commenting about after seeing the video.

Previews are a relic and provide very little that can't be reported on a podcast. I think EZA are just used to what they did at GT and are recreating what they did there mostly. All their stuff is well made/reported but information/impressions of AAA games is readily available everywhere.

Chuck

Still without luck
No reading the posts above cuz spoilerz, but halfway through this week's Bos v Woz, and this is the most frustrated I've been watching. He just keeps blowing amazing runs at ridiculous times.

Ugh, I hope it works out, but I'll have to finish it later

It's a focused, succinct (and well written) piece of media that will gain viewers who otherwise may not bother with a lengthy podcast with multiple topics. I've already seen quite a number of people who have just now discovered Easy Allies because of that preview. It's been received very well overall. So it certainly has an audience.

It's not a good reason but let's not pretend the Pro is not anti-consumerist. If you want the best Playstation 4 "experience" you have to buy a Pro and a 4K TV.

Although it's a funny sentiment coming from Huber, the perfect target for gaming PR :p

so any service who offer a premium option with more content is anti consumer? is the gpu market anti consumer too?

i get what you say, we can only wait and see if sony will try to push people to buy a ps3 pro by giving you way better content on ps4pro or by giving you shitty content on ps4 standard. the latter would really be anti consumer

(huber streamed 5 h and half? huber you're CRAZY)

That's good to hear. Expanding the audience is always a good idea.

If you want the experience you paid for (playing games on PS4), you have it. You haven't been shortchanged in any way.

If you want an experience that is better than what you paid for, you have to pay more.

Makes sense to me anyways.

I guess the mid-gen upgrade idea is kinda anti-consumer but I think the way Sony's going about it, ruling out Pro exclusives and forcing MP parity, has been very pro-consumer. They appear to have genuinely tried to make it an optional upgrade IMO.

But a real anti-consumer move would be releasing the PS5 this year, starting a new gen super early, kinda like what Microsoft did with the 360 after only four years of the oXbox.

It's not anti-consumerist to offer an optional product. PCs aren't anti-consumerist because of all of the options they offer. In fact, they're kind of great for consumers because of all of the options they offer.

Not everyone's gonna listen to an hour and half podcast just to hear what they have to say about one particular game tho.
Having a dedicated preview video is handy, useful and quick way to get you up to speed.

Watching Bos vs Woz willing Kyle to beat the score, but then I realised that if he does then there'll no longer be any streams.
I'm now willing him to fail over and over just so he keeps this fantastic stream going.

I'm a monster!

Thanks. Not like I support their Patreon or anything. Can't have a say.

The fuck?

You don't get a say. Neither do I. Just because we give them money doesnt mean we can tell them what to do. If they want to play video games for ten hours to celebrate their sixth money anniversary together, that's their perogative.

This isn't how Patreon works. When you give them money all they owe you is the Patreon goal, and the individual Patreon awards.

In any case, I'm surprised more people aren't talking g about the amazing new Easy Update and the PHYSICAL CD RELEASE OMG. That was an instant buy for me even if I don't have a CD player.

Exactly. The idea itself is anti-consumerist but they did it in the best way possible.

It's not anti-consumerist to offer an optional product. PCs aren't anti-consumerist because of all of the options they offer. In fact, they're kind of great for consumers because of all of the options they offer.
People did buy the PS4 believing it would be the best Playstation "experience" for the entirety of this console cycle, even if it's technically optional.
I mean the fact that consoles don't change is a selling point over PCs.

If you want the experience you paid for (playing games on PS4), you have it. You haven't been shortchanged in any way.

If you want an experience that is better than what you paid for, you have to pay more.

What if the PS4 Pro was announced a year after the original PS4? A month? Yeah, I don't buy the "you got the experience you paid for" thing.

so any service who offer a premium option with more content is anti consumer? is the gpu market anti consumer too?
If the general consensus among consumers that there wouldn't be a premium option during the expected cycle of the product they bought then yes.
Would a new iPhone releasing 3-6 months after iPhone 7 released not be anti-consumer?

You're overreacting. His first post was simply him stating what he hoped the 10 hour stream would be. You are needlessly standoff-ish.

this thread is going again in a strage direction uh

Would a new iPhone releasing 3-6 months after iPhone 7 released not be anti-consumer?

3 months? what are we talking about
a new iphones comes out like every year. full price, cost way more than a ps4, no one cares
now tech is moving foward pretty quickly with new engines and new way to develop games, ps4 launched as a medium tier tech to keep the price down. no one is forcing you but if you're thinking "man, i might as well make a new pc, but i like to play on console" the pro is your choice
i get that the ps4 player will feel they're playing the inferior version but that's like with gpus. nvidia put out gpus every year, in every range of price and performance

I'm saying it's breaking the cycle. A new iPhone within a year is given, a new iPhone within 3 months isn't something the consumers expected. Same with the Pro, it wasn't expected even if a PS5 in 2020 would've been.
