I agree. That said, I can even see a debate on whether or not this is always the case, but you know what it very clearly isn't?
"Racist" or "like racists". That's just beyond the pale, and disrespectful towards people suffering from actual racism.

My definition of being "twisted up" on this is anybody who is in any way offended. You're free to disagree with his characterization, but any pearl-clutching offense at the language used is 100% bullshit.

You don't need to bother explaining to me that what I'm writing is just my opinion.

I mean, to me it's just like how, in the latest episode of Pachter Factor, he actually felt the need to explain to viewers that, no, if you can't afford the $50 a year for a SIFTD subscription, he isn't referring to you as a cheapskate. Same deal here. If you're a well-adjusted PC gamer who takes a live and let live approach to gaming, then he self evidently is not talking about you. I seriously cannot imagine the kind of person who sees this quote and actually feels the need to go online and say 'I AM NOT A SNOB, MICHAEL PACHTER. HOW DARE YOU.'

While generalizations are never good I kinda get it. I know a few guys who are totally into the "Master race" thing, they act like gaming on consoles is for dumb people and liking console exclusives is a sign of a bad taste, lol.

Actually I would say claiming a consumer segment is "like racists" is pretty irresponsible.

Wasn't trying a slam dunk, I got the feeling you thought I was angry. I wasn't offended, I just thought it was a really poorly chosen analogy and was surprised to see people here agreeing with it. Having said that racism is a sensitive issue so I can't begrudge anyone that is offended.

Thanks for your concern but I am capable of understanding context. I am aware that Michael Pachter is not directly equating PC customers with neo-nazis, but that doesn't make his comment any less ill-judged and misinformed.

Fuck off. I play on a PC because I like settings. If consoles want to win me then it has to be with exclusives (which is why Nintendo got me) and a price worth the exclusives.

Well it depends on whether you expect him to care about dummies, basically.

As I said, it seems self-evident to me that he was not making any actual link between hating other people based on their skin color and PC gamers. I refuse to believe that any reasonable, well-adjusted person would interpret the comment that way.

So yeah, it could be predicted that some dum-dums would either willfully or unintentionally misread the comment. So what? There will always be people on the internet making something out of nothing. Fuck em, I say.

Always hate when people blame the press for quoting them as well. The reporter asked about his remarks because he knew they were daft but needed more for a headline.

I mean can we even deal with the fact this superficial image of PC gamers is bollocks and the vast majority are PC users who utilise their computer for gaming?

There's no reason to bring in language pertaining to race or prejudice in a discussion about gaming hardware. The only real factor is perceived value. If people don't feel the PS4Pro has more value than their PC then that's a logical, value based judgement rather than an emotional, nonsensical one that we associate with racism.

There's no reason to call PC gamers insular either. It's the most diverse gaming community other than mobile. The people playing AAA games on high end PCs are just a teeny tiny part of it.

Idk, the fact "glorious PC master race" is a term thrown around frequently here and everything else kinda makes the comparison kinda easy. Yeah I know its in jest but honestly the term "master race" has its roots in eugenics/nazism which isn't great. I kind of think the term should have been ditched long ago it's gross but it's really stuck around.
