I didn't realize when watching the Japanese trailer that they finally have an excuse for what Pokémon do in boxes.

Beating relentlessly, being able to sense and be at home in the dark, and having a notoriously bad attitude seem to suggest this as well. Plus the spit.
We all know it's wishful thinking tho. Doesn't make sense for a pro fighter Pokémon to be weak to fighting.

Was it me or did that trailer seem to show you can actually use the PC box area thing they are putting in this to actually train your Pokemon like the daycare in previous games? Super interesting if so since I'm planning to do a Nuzlocke run on this straight away.
Edit: Also I love that Rowlett is absolutely Green Arrow, the mid form being like a rich kid just seals it for me. Owliver shall LIVE!

I actually like Torracat a lot. Shame it evolves into a humanoid mess.
Brionne isn't my cup of tea at all. Neither is the final stage though, so no real loss there.
Dartrix is nothing special, but ArcherOwl is still easily the best of the three, so I'm happy enough to choose him.

They could invent a new character named Ash and repurpose roughly what the anime established on him, but that would certainly be odd. Or maybe have Red give Greninja to the player in the demo? I don't know how acceptable even that would be. Depends on how they would handle it.

Torracat is my favorite of the mid evos. Dartix is eh, and Brionne is terrible.
New features are interesting, cool that you can do something with your boxed Pokémon now. The online plaza also looks nice. And rental teams are great for people who wanna get into comp Pokémon but don't want to spend the time to make a full team.

That certainly looks like the middle evolution of a fire/fighting type. I wonder if there is any truth to the rumor about split final evolutions for the starters. A heel, fire/dark wrestler would be fun, but I don't think I'd bet on it. Rowlet's middle stage is a bit ugly, but I guess that's the case a lot of the time.

I wonder how Battle Bond will be passed down when breeding. Will the Froakie have 33.33% of a chance of getting Torrent, Protean, and Battle Bond? Or will it be exclusive to this Greninja alone?

They had Steven reference a Mega Evo Special and Alain in ORAS, so it wouldn't be that out there. Yeah, the anime story and game story don't fit together, but they've already started doing cross references anyway.

Both are kind of weird and I know many pokemon already look masculine with female genders. Guess I just hoped it would have been more neutral, like some of the fanart.
But I'll have to wait and see, I guess. The final evos might not look exactly like the leaked concept art.

Let me gets this straight. They're about to introduce the Ash-Geninja form to the games. This is the first time, since like Pokemon Yellow and Lightball Pikachu or Notched-ear Pichu, that the Anime is mixing with the games. It's a big promotional merchandising stint...
And yet, they let the mother fucker lose the whole league?? When they KNEW there was going to be this HUGE cross-over advertising thing. They knew it, and yet didn't let the most Popular Pokemon since like Charizard or Lucario win in the one place where it counted the most? What a colossal fuck up on their part.
Moving on, with the starter leaks 100% confirmed at this point, here's a quick evaluation:
Rowlet has the most to offer at stage 1, being a Grass/Flying right from the start. Very similar to Bulbasaur, which started as Grass/Poison and to date was the only dual-type starter to have ever existed from the beginning, middle, and final evolution. But this also means that is has the least to gain through evolution, as it would appear that it'll remain Grass/Flying throughout its other 2 stages. It's fine, but you know what you're getting.
Popplio will remain pure Water for 2 stages, then assumedly will become a Water/Fairy at the final stage. This makes it more of a Piplup or Froakie instead of a Marshtomp. You'll pretty much be relying on that last evolution to make a difference. There doesn't seem to be a short supply of Water-types, so I feel it'll have to be something very unique.
Litten is also the same - less of a Torchic or Tepig and more of a Charmander. Though, here's hoping it learns some of its physical attacks early as a Torracat. I am also one of the few who believe it'll become Fire/Dark with a bunch of Fighting-type moves to augment its strength. It would make for a weaker Pokemon combination overall, but I'm sure folks would appreciate the originality more.

Wish they had come up with another name for Greninja, but that's what the TCG card was called so I shouldn't have been surprised. Really neat that it's a permenant transformation, although the stat change will have to be significant to break Protean usage.
