About the casting for Lando:

As for the role of Calrissian, reports had surfaced that “Atlanta” star and creator Donald Glover was high on the list, but Disney and Lucasfilm still wanted a second round of tests to be certain on their decision. Solo’s friend was played by Billy Dee Williams in “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.”

The idea for a Han Solo movie was actually pitched by George Lucas, I believe. Maybe as a last fy to fans before he left LucasFilm.

Why does a Han Solo movie needs a 'female lead'? Urgh, I hate when they always make sure that there is a 'opposite-gender' sidekick, no matter if male or female lead. It's a character movie about a dashing rogue with a big mouth, not sure how a female lead / primarily love interest fits into that. Please don't let it be like Transformers where the girl is just there 'to be there' and gets dragged along for no other reason and serves no purpose and adds nothing.

Yeah, that was really apparent in Prince of Persia. Although, there she at least wasn't as much of a hindrance. Most of those aren't based on an established character tho, one which we already know and know how he will end up.

I'd rather see how he meets Chewie and their adventures together and how he gets in trouble with Jabba etc.
Sure, women should be a factor, since he is pretty much a playboy, but I hope it's more like Bond or a 'one of many'-situation and not like she sticks around for most of the movie 'just because'. It should simply not be the focus of the story.

But let's see what 'female lead' actually means in the grand-scheme of things.
