PS4 PRO 4K native games (will update the list everytime there is a new game)

Hmm. share function will be updated to support 1080p video recording. I hoped they would allow 4K recording or streaming too but that would be very ressource intensive I presume.

Man, I don't know... 4K recording would fill your HDD with blast speed. At least at a good quality.

Yep. Few minutes of it and your HDD is out of service. 4K screens would be perfect. COD Infinite Warfare shifts to native 4K when you stand still which is great for taking screenshots.

Do you have to wait for the 4k versions to come out on disc or will old discs for those on the list work just fine?

Wow, I love that Cod shifts to 4K for screenshots, that feature needs to be implemented in all games. Could that even be a system level thing? Probably not.

Wait what? TLOU and Skyrim native 4k? My interest went up a little.

That is why I made this thread since most of the users miss the games that are native 4K seeing that such infos are either hidden in news that you have to fully read to spot it or in dev posts in Neogaf.

If it isn't asking too much, could you curate a list of games that offer improvements at 1080 over the vanilla OG PS4 experience?

The fact that when you don't move the reconstruction is perfect 4K shouldn't be a feature of checkerboard rendering in general?
If the image is static you can perfectly reconstruct a 4K image from two checkerboarded fields?

You are welcome. :)

I don't know how checkerboard is dealt with in every game but Digital Foundry praised this method in Infinite Warfare since it allowed native 4K when static. Who knows how checkerboard is used in other games. It may be the same method and it may be not.

Can someone confirm if playing upscalled 4k image on 1080p will give me a free AA due to downsampling? Im considering bying this alone to get rid of FFXV jaggies ( which is horrible on vanilla PS4 ).

Great idea putting this in one thread, thanks op.

It would be really cool if someone could do the same for patched games nearer the time as well so us poor 1080p people know where to put our money.

Yes. Itw as confirmed many times for many games and TLOU is one of them since you can switch to 1080p even on 4K TV and to SDR too.

That list would be much bigger and harder to track than this one since many of already released PS4 will get a PRO patch, let alone all the upcoming games which will all support the PS4 PRO compared to a list with few native 4K games.

I am pretty sure the stand still effect of Infinite Warfare is just standard behavior for checkerboard rendering. It would make a lot of sense to alternate the grid exactly for scenes with no or slow movement. That doesn't make it native 4K.

Hmm, didn't know about Rez. That's pretty sweet.

I don't have a 4K TV, I'm probably getting a Pro 'just because' I need a PS4 and it's not that much more money, but I suppose these will all just also look that much cleaner on a regular TV.

I'm not 100% sure about it but I think that native 4K when static is a standard behaviour of checkerboard rendering. You get rid of the temporal aliasing and the reconstruction of the full resolution picture is perfect. I don't think that it's a COD specific thing but I'd like if other people with more knowledge on the matter commented on this.

Skyrim Remastered at native 4K alone justifies my Pro purchase to me, will definitely give The Last of Us a whirl too, and probably end up replaying it in its entirety for the umpteenth time.

Yeah it was really a good news. I remember how hard was Skyrim to max out when it was released, now we have the Remastered version with extra effects and in 4K.

I still don't understand if it's worth upgrading having a standard 1080p tv without HDR or not. Anyone can help me realizing if the investment is worth?

Rocket League seems like a prime candidate for this, unless 4k60 isn't possible.

Also Outlast 2 is a good candidate too since it is linear and seeing how it runs at 60 FPS in 1080p on PS4 with no difference in details from PC. Killing Floor 2 is close to reach that goal too on PS4 PRO (I hope they can hit 4K Native before the release).

If your asking whether or not the resolution difference will matter even if you have a 1080p TV, definitely. Running 4K games on a 1080p screen will do more to give you a cleaner image than any console viable anti aliasing could ever do at native 1080p

Without counting the extra graphical features that the PS4 PRO version will include.
i.e: ROTTR will have 3 modes:
- 4K@30FPS checkerboard equivalent of high settings.
-1080p with unlocked FPS.
-1080p@30FPS with the maximum details.

I would choose the last mode even if I am able to play in 4K.

This is what I don't get. If I have a 1080p why game should run at 4k? o_O

I see that this thread was useful then. Congrats.

Thank you.
And it's funny that I'll get to play Rez in three different modes:

1- On the 13th, I'll play it in 1080P
2- On November I'll play it in 4k@60 when the Pro releases
3- In VR mode when I'l eventually get the PSVR...
