I absolutely loved playing GTA Heists and GTAO Missions with my pals. So definitely excited about RDO.

On another note: There will definitely be a SP/co-op Campaign. You people talk like you don't even know Rockstar

It'll basically be GTA5's idea.

huge SP mode. And a separate mode "ONLINE" which they will support regardless of the main game.

I'm surprised they haven't launched gta online stand alone tbh.

1. Of course there's an online element to the game.
2. Of course they're going to buy up all TLDs they can related to their intellectual property.

Neither of these things is unusual. Jesus.

The difference is that they are making bank from those 2 million players.

It's a proven profit for them.

yeah for sure that's a nice profit and infact they made $700,000,000 from it within the last 12 months but how much did GTA V make in the first 24 hours? $800,000,000. After 72 hours it was over $1,000,000,000. Within 8 months it had reached $2,000,000,000.

the fact is that GTA Online doesn't bring in anywhere near the amount of money that GTA V did.

It's still large profits over time, and something they will continue to do.

i'm not denying that but GTA V has brought in more money for them than GTA Online. sure they are going to keep doing GTA Online and a Red Dead Online but most of their money has came from people buying the game for the single player part of the game.

That's true enough, but I'm wondering if they will try to make the perfect formula for an online game where they can make large profits over time.

Similar to a TF2, or an Overwatch, but for a different audience.

most people i know who bought the game bought it for online. They don't care about the SP (i know, it's weird)

While GTAV has undoubtedly generated more revenue at retail than through the online component alone (the $2b figure is napkin maths that assumes all copies were sold at USD$60, which is not the case), the fact of the matter is that GTA Online is a sizeable and consistent revenue earner, which becomes gradually more important as sales of the game itself slow. Hoping that future R* games will not have an MP component that is at least loosely designed around microtransactions is, in all likelihood, setting yourself up for disappointment.

Well I seriously loved Read Dead online put over 2 WEEKS of playtime into it and carried on playing long after i got my Zebra donkey, but played with a possie and was more about hanging with them than anything towards the end. So would be happy to have a large online componet

I sure as hell want single player though!

It took me ages to beat the GTAV SP because I was spending most of my time in the Online portion with my friends. With Red Dead I definitely want to experience the SP, if it's anywhere near as excellent as Redemption, but I also am hoping for a robust online sandbox.

i'm not saying gta online isn't worth their time. it brings them a lot of money in and they will of course keep doing it. i'm not hoping they don't do it because like you say it'd be setting myself up for disappointment. in fact i want them to do it because i know not everyone is interested in the single player mode. however as someone who is interested in the single player mode i just hope they don't put a lot of focus on the multiplayer side. i was disappointed that we got no DLC for single player in GTA V because of how well GTA Online did. This time around i hope they can manage both Red Dead Online and get out some single player dlc for those of us who enjoy it.

If GTA V is any indication I'd guess both sides get plenty of focus. Sure, single-player DLC would have been nice, but the base game in V was great and plenty expansive.

A bit late to the thread (vacation). Holy shit, table tennis 2 is back on the menu. I am going to wait till 9 am to see if any news stuff is up before going to bed.

GTA V did not ship, what, 65m(?) units off the back of MP. That that portion of the game is apparently so profitable thanks to only 2m whales should be enough to dash any fears this doesn't have a hefty SP side like every other Rockstar game.

Let's hope they just secured the domain for the optional online component of a SP-focused game.

No one here has any reason to believe otherwise. It may well have a main campaign that can be co-oped, which will be a welcome addition imo; otherwise, it will be the same as GTAV and RDR before it, of that I have no doubt.

Next image should start adding the platforms to the bottom of the picture. First one should just be a "Nintendo NX" right on the center.

I can handle an absolute internet shitstorm for the next 24 hours.

So you think they're going to ignore 60 million players and not make a single player game because they're banking on the remaining online players? That sounds like a smart business move mate.

/s

depends on what they think the of profits they can make over time for a Red Dead game.

Red Dead isn't GTA, after all.

I think Red Dead Retaliation would be the best title, if its about the last remaining months of the wild west (then again, redemption was about that).

Really fucking hope this isn't just an online game though.
