Nintendo could have selected any date at any time to unveil their next system, yet they decide to unveil it just an hour before Rockstar unveils it's next epic game?

Not necessarily, it could just be that the name/form factor/gimmick/Zelda will still take everyone by surprise. For all that we know about the NX, we still know surprisingly little about it.

I mean what if, since it has detachable controllers, Nintendo opens it up so developers can create literally any kind of gameplay they want by bundling cheap controllers with their games? Racing game comes with a shell that's a wheel, Monster Hunter comes with a shell that has like 80 buttons, etc etc.

They won't, they're just using NX until they officially announce the name since they have been calling it NX publicly for a while now and people know that it's a new Nintendo console.

Well, it's already been announced for the PS4 and Xbox One, so that's obviously not going to happen. But RDR2 being on the NX would be perhaps the biggest software announcement that they could make for the system. Bigger than a new Mario, Zelda or even BG&E2 being exclusive. Rockstar have never released a GTA or Red Dead on a Nintendo console. So, even with it being a multiplatform game, it would actually really say a lot about the system being viewed differently by developers if Rockstar were willing to support it before it was even released.

Not holding my breath but Soraya Saga usually only RT ND and Nintendo announcements when some MonolithSoft related stuff is going to appear (Xenobalde X, Shulk in Smash, XC n3DS port...), at least I don't remember she doing it in other instances. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It could be just a short demo of Zelda in the NX for three minutes, or it could be a Wii E3 reveal trailer type with different games/genres used with the new "gimmick" just a few seconds for each...

Those coaxial ports would probably be used for the wi-fi and bluetooth antennas. Wouldn't make sense to design internal ones for a dev unit. Also, having retro-compatibility with controllers that plug into the wiimote expansion port wouldn't be a bad thing. NES classic controllers use that port, for example.

Well, crunching my numbers, assuming ~10-15W TDP for the full SoC (on the upper end of what would be feasible given battery life, but Emily Rogers did say battery life was poor), you'd be looking at:

If it's 2 Pascal SMs, clock speed around 1.5GHz and around 750 Gflops FP32 / 1500 Gflops FP16

If it's 3 Pascal SMs, clock speed around 1.3GHz and around 1 Tflop FP32 / 2 Tflop FP16

If it's 4 Pascal SMs, clock speed around 1.2GHz and around 1.2 Tflop FP32 / 2.4 Tflop FP16

Plus a pretty beastly CPU.

Even the first would stomp on any smartphone GPU and in theory be capable of close to PS4 visuals at 720p. That has me suspicious, though, as all the reliable sources have been saying it doesn't compete in power with PS4/XBO, and the above aren't that far off. Potentially I'm massively overestimating the TDP they're hitting, or perhaps there is a docked mode where the clock speeds increase and the fan turns on, and whichever dev has been leaking details simply hasn't been made aware of it yet, with their hardware running at portable clocks.

Honestly I don't know what to think anymore. I'm going to go curl up in a ball in the corner of the room and rock gently back and forth for a while.

Yeah it would be a nice surprise if the power level leaks are actually underestimating the overall power but I kinda doubt it. Unless those leaks are based solely on previous devkits, but again I'd advise against expecting parity with PS4/XB1.

There is a high chance we'll see Xenoblade NX (by which I mean Xenoblade X NX), but I doubt we'll see it tomorrow.

Well, it does seem far fetched if the NX is indeed a hybrid console, Rockstar wouldn't develop for this.

Didn't early rumours about the NX said that Nintendo wanted to get close to third party developers again and even asked for advice ?

First off, you wouldn't be using a "tablet" unless you are using the NX as a portable. When it's docked, you will be using something else which is more than likely a split controller as well as an optional "traditional" controller. RDR2 is plausible I guess but I'd wear my dog's cone if it happened. Rockstar put Bully on the Wii so I wouldn't put it past them putting RDR2 on a hybrid.
