Nintendo employees need to cool it with fanning the hype flames...they're already burning bright enough that it's practically impossible to live up to expectation.

It's going to be Fucking Donkey Kong again.

You say that like that's a bad thing.

Retro Studios presents: Donkey Kong Country: Kremling Katastrophe. K. Rool and the Kremlings are the main villains again. All the playable kongs return from TF with one new playable character...
HE
. Enguarde returns as an animal buddy.

Also, David fucking Wise doing the soundtrack. Again. Retro Studios, bitches, we out.

Well, it's already been announced for the PS4 and Xbox One, so that's obviously not going to happen. But RDR2 being on the NX would be perhaps the biggest software announcement that they could make for the system. Bigger than a new Mario, Zelda or even BG&E2 being exclusive. Rockstar have never released a GTA or Red Dead on a Nintendo console. So, even with it being a multiplatform game, it would actually really say a lot about the system being viewed differently by developers if Rockstar were willing to support it before it was even released.
GTA Chinatown Wars came out on DS.

That means literally nothing. You don't think it'll come to the PC eventually? And I'm not saying it is going to come to NX, but there have been other game announcements (at least one for sure) where the reveal trailer said "Nintendo NX" at the bottom with all the platforms it would come out for and they got blasted for it and quickly put up a new trailer without the NX logo in it. So while it's not probable that RDR2 will come out for NX, it's not impossible and the platform name not being in the press release is certainly not any kind of proof.

It's finally time! How have we all waited for this glorious day.
Rejoice, we will discover what the secrecy was all about!

I want a hybrid but will buy both anyway!

Eh. 1 game does little to solve their overall 3rd party support issue and rumors from multiple insiders suggest nothing going to drastically change on that front.

So I have highlighted the curious things I noted and what I think is what from the potential dev kit.

The "dock" is not how I expected this thing to dock at all, its flush with the entire back. And second, both units have heat exhaust?

What the fuck is in each part?

perhaps the vents on the handheld are only operational when the unit is docked. The vent on the dock is an intake and the one on the handheld is exhaust. (or the other way around).

I don't think there's any connection between this and rdr2, why would Rockstar want Nintendo revealing their game before they do?

I haven't done anything this afternoon because of this. Tomorrow will probably be the same watching the reveal trailer over and over again. God, I really, really, REALLY hope Nintendo doesn't mess it up this time. I'm sure they wont.

Someone please make a train picture with all our avatars in there. PLEASE.

That'll be great but hype train images like that are bannable now :( Because everyone spamming "Put me on the hype train!" and stuff.

What's a good way for me to see this trailer without being spoiled, because I'm going to have to watch it a couple hours after it airs live.

As you don't know if the next person already saw it, I would recommend to avoid any interaction of any type until you can watch the trailer.

Jk, just copy the streaming url when they share it before it airing, so you can open it directly without entering other pages.

Well, crunching my numbers, assuming ~10-15W TDP for the full SoC (on the upper end of what would be feasible given battery life, but Emily Rogers did say battery life was poor), you'd be looking at:

If it's 2 Pascal SMs, clock speed around 1.5GHz and around 750 Gflops FP32 / 1500 Gflops FP16

If it's 3 Pascal SMs, clock speed around 1.3GHz and around 1 Tflop FP32 / 2 Tflop FP16

If it's 4 Pascal SMs, clock speed around 1.2GHz and around 1.2 Tflop FP32 / 2.4 Tflop FP16

Plus a pretty beastly CPU.

Even the first would stomp on any smartphone GPU and in theory be capable of close to PS4 visuals at 720p. That has me suspicious, though, as all the reliable sources have been saying it doesn't compete in power with PS4/XBO, and the above aren't that far off. Potentially I'm massively overestimating the TDP they're hitting, or perhaps there is a docked mode where the clock speeds increase and the fan turns on, and whichever dev has been leaking details simply hasn't been made aware of it yet, with their hardware running at portable clocks.

Honestly I don't know what to think anymore. I'm going to go curl up in a ball in the corner of the room and rock gently back and forth for a while.
I'm hoping for no less than 3 SM's.

Holy shit. Can't believe we've reached the end of the line on months and months of hype and speculation.

Now I'm debating whether I should get to the office early or go in late for optimal viewing....

First off, you wouldn't be using a "tablet" unless you are using the NX as a portable. When it's docked, you will be using something else which is more than likely a split controller as well as an optional "traditional" controller. RDR2 is plausible I guess but I'd wear my dog's cone if it happened. Rockstar put Bully on the Wii so I wouldn't put it past them putting RDR2 on a hybrid.

Even if you'd use a traditional controller in docked mode, the hybrid nature of the system means you should be able to play the game of the go, with potentially only the tablet.

And I don't see third party developers developing for this kind of gimmick: two versions of the games (in graphical fidelity I mean), two ways to play it, it's a huge headache.

You're starting to see why I think this hybrid console would be Nintendo flipping off the finger to third party devs ?

That Wii U reveal video really is remarkable to look back on. Imagine you don't know that it's a new console, and you can't distinguish a Wii console from the thing they show under the TV in the background for like three seconds. It's honestly like Nintendo is actively trying to sell you a new controller for your Wii.

I was following the GAF hype and during the reveal I was second guessing if it was a new console or not, or some kind of upgraded wii

Ahh, good idea! Thanks! I'll try to stay safe!

I mean it's possible, but I cannot imagine Rockstar willingly working with Nintendo for any length of time. Also RDR just isn't all that big a deal outside of the core enthusiasts like us. If it were GTA6 that's another matter, but RDR2 isn't the killer app many of us wish it were.

Interesting that it says "home gaming system".

According to the people who actually, legitimately have info, that's so that people don't see it as a "handheld with tv out" and rather a home gaming system that happens to be portable.

Don't think it will work though, we 2 savvy.
