2SMs at 1.275GHz, and 8 A72 cores at 2GHz.

We won't know until 1-3 months launch though.

Yeah, that sounds kind of reasonable for active cooling, although I wouldn't quite expect 8 A72s at 2GHz. By Geekbench FP benchmark reckoning that's more than twice as powerful as PS4's Jaguars.

Umm blu, does that mean I need to get my Peach costume ready? :)

Umm.....ohhh shit.

Take that with a whole heaping grain of salt. As I say, all reliable sources for NX hardware leaks have very specifically said it's not competing with PS4/XBO on raw power, and I find it very hard to believe they'd do that if it's actually got a Pascal GPU pushing a Teraflop or more of FP32 and 2+ TF of FP16. That's "competing with PS4/XBO" by my reckoning.

Yeah it would be a nice surprise if the power level leaks are actually underestimating the overall power but I kinda doubt it. Unless those leaks are based solely on previous devkits, but again I'd advise against expecting parity with PS4/XB1.

Curling up into a ball sounds quite nice right now though, good call.

The other option, given the same source has leaked the use of cartridges, the hybrid form factor, the specs, and now the exact timing of the reveal (along with quite specific details on the nature of the reveal), is that the source is... Nintendo.

I'm going to put my tinfoil hat on right here, but if Nintendo wanted to do a few controlled leaks, then they would have given out exactly the kind of vague, intriguing details that they have been giving out. But, if they were releasing a PS4/XBO level console in between PS4 Pro and Scorpio, they'd want to find a way to make that less of a downer when the reveal does happen. If they make make sure the leaks are very clear that it's not going to hit PS4/XBO parity, then when they actually reveal it and it is in the PS4/XBO performance range they'll actually be exceeding people's expectations.

And with the realisation that this thread is turning me into a crazy person, I think it's time I go to bed. See you tomorrow, folks!

Nintendo just confirmed the host of the video tomorrow:

Haha :)

I mean it's possible, but I cannot imagine Rockstar willingly working with Nintendo for any length of time. Also RDR just isn't all that big a deal outside of the core enthusiasts like us. If it were GTA6 that's another matter, but RDR2 isn't the killer app many of us wish it were.
Oh no totally, I don't even think it will come to NX. I just didn't think "The didn't announce it in the PR" was a good reason to think it wouldn't come to another platform.

I was responding to a poster that said "Red Dead 2 exclusive to NX would destroy the planet". That's why I said it's not going to happen. Rockstar just announced it for the PS4 and Xbox One on Tuesday, they aren't suddenly going to announce tomorrow that they were just bullshitting and it's actually exclusive to the NX.

Oooooh oh oh ok, that makes way more sense. Thanks for the clarification hah! Reading is difficult sometimes.

This actually looks like the same device, even the power and volume buttons are in the same place, and there's a strange hole (a mic maybe?) also in the same place on both:

If the pictures are real it's kind of a bummer that Nintendo didn't choose to go with something like USB-C or even USB 3 for the NX.

Left is def slimmer. Looks like it is just a tabletty screen bit... other could be to reflect screen plus dock?

Low expectations:

What I expect because it's so close to launch:
1. A price point
2. A proper name (NX is still a cool name tho)
3. 1 - 2 games to demonstrate console/idea.
4. Maybe we get to see both the controller AND the system?

And most importantly:
Dank memes

NO WAY will we get a price point tomorrow. Other stuff, yes I think we'll see that.

I don't think this is real because it has Ethernet, and Nintendo gives zero fucks about Ethernet. I do hope it is though, home console without Ethernet is useless.

Ever since my mom passed away in July I've been strangely obsessed with NX news and speculation. Like it was taking my mind off of everything. And now that's over and I dunno what the heck I'm gonna replace it with but I'm excited anyway!

I hope that the reveal makes you happy, sincerely :)

That Wii U reveal video really is remarkable to look back on. Imagine you don't know that it's a new console, and you can't distinguish a Wii console from the thing they show under the TV in the background for like three seconds. It's honestly like Nintendo is actively trying to sell you a new controller for your Wii.

It really is! I'm just so happy we're at a new generation with them. I'm just really hoping to not be disappointed.

How would they even get that dev kit picture? Just looks like a render, and I'm sure Nintendo doesn't hand those out. It seems like a dev kit leak would just show it there on a desk or something.

Three minutes is more than enough time to cover the system name, form factor, concept, and design. I'm sure there'll be much more info in the next few weeks. Relax.

Agreed, no ethernet really makes me question buying it other than for casual simple stuff, essentially what I play on the WIiU.

Yeah the one on the right is the system supposedly attached to the rumored dock

If you notice the "dock" has grip indentations on the back though that it wouldn't if it was not meant to be held. The image is the front/top of the same device.

Someone in this thread said that you see devkit pictures like that in devkit order forms, so it would be from that I imagine.

It's a dev kit. Nintendo can throttle the ethernet speed via software to emulate the 2.4 / 5 GHz wireless connection on the final hardware.

I hope so. A little voice in the back of my head is saying that after this video they'll go radio silent for months again.

I don't think so, because you can see the coax type inputs in both pictures. They're sticking up above the edge in the tabletesque picture.

I think the whole thing, including the fat back part, is the "tablet"

Definetly a weird way to announce a new system....through a trailer without any notice.
I'm really curious though.
The hybrid concept is interesting because it promises to give us a single console able to play all the future Nintendo lineup and that's the most attractive feature to me.
I just hope they don't fuck up the price by giving us handheld technology that because of extra hardware (dock unit, detachable controllers and so on) ends up costing like a home console because that would be a really tough sell although they can still sell the basic handheld and the rest separately at different prices to cater to different markets.
And btw I hope we won't see those with unrealistic expectations (like super powerful specs and massive third party support) start crying in every thread.

the prongs on the side look like the wii u cat dev:

so that could be a devkit.

Parker at least in default configurations caps at 750Gflops Fp32. Nintendo will of course do specific modifications and have a custom design but I would not expect it to go past the 750gflops.

  • 0:00-1:59 shot of the curtain, slight movement suggests its a video, but nothing happens
  • 2:00-2:20 more movement, Roundabout by Yes starts playing
  • 2:21 Mario pulls back the curtain, last 40 seconds is just this as Roundabout keeps playing.
