Jesus. This piece of shit ruined one of the few things this kid enjoyed.

I'm not at all shocked that the old fuck didn't face any repercussions and I'm sure he still won't with the investigation renewed, but I hope he gets royally fucked by karma and I hope the kid is able to find a new joy in life.

Police renew probe of attack on autistic teen runner at meet.

Edit: I'm very happy to see that it's been reopened, and I hope that there's punishment to the full extent of the law. Any sort of decent human being would have apologized immediately, owned their shitty behavior, and faced the consequences. Instead, there's current persistence on the part of the assailant that it's OK for him to be a horrible person and to have ruined a great outlet for a child that needs a little extra help.

He needs to be charged with assault, because that is exactly what he did. And thank god for news stories and social media at times. Shit like this would have just been pushed under the rug much easier.

Think about all the shit that's been getting pushed under the rug for decades on decades.

I thought I was well too worn on this shit, so I didn't enter the thread sooner. But reading the story, boy was I wrong. I am angry as fuck!

I don't understand the American legal system.

How can the guy assault someone and they refuse the charge him?
They have to charge him if a crime has been committed don't they?

what the fuck.

this kind of thing just infuriates me. what else is safe for black people?

I would love to send Chase a letter of encouragement.

As a 5K runner throughout high school and college, I would like to write him as well.

Running like that is painful, hard, competitive, and requires a lot of the fear of failure, of embarrassment, was in my mind for every race. Overcoming it, though, was such a reward and a relief.

That kid needs encouragement.

That's what that kid gets for being a racist! Or, uh, racer.

In any case, his dehumanizing racing clearly intimidated that old guy, who was compelled by honor to bravely leave the safety of his vehicle and defend his wife with a righteous shove.

This makes my blood boil. The fuck you mean they didn't charge this racist fuckwit? This a blantant hate crime, never mind your garden variety of assault.

Ugh... not been a good few months of news for my area...

It's where the rich people go to hide when they don't want to deal with the "inner city"

Yeah it's only really worth going to for the dairy.

I'm surprised this happened near Cobb Hill though. It's a very diverse area.

Dude musta been itching for some racism.

Reading this account, as others have said was infuriating. I have no patience for adults that assault minors, none. He literally stole the passion and interest away from this kid.

This makes me so upset I'm shaking. I don't know if if I want to cry, vomit or hit something.
My son's autistic, he's not as non-verbal as the boy in the story, but fuck, this kid can't even tell him what he's doing, I can't imagine the confusion he experienced with this. This makes me sick. I'm glad to see the police looking into this again, sad that it took something going viral to motivate them to save face to do it.

Listing the things that asshole took from this kid that day. A sense of safety to be out in the world by himself. Peace of mind. The freedom to run or even exercise without harassment. The accomplishment of finishing what he starts. Any comradery he might have been developing with fellow runners, his coach and the community, for now and the foreseeable future. A appreciation of self.
The kid turned in his running gear.
He actually did that to him.

This asshole just put this kid back in the cage in so many ways, it's sickening.

Exactly this. It's not some small incident that occurred, he took so much away from him.

Charge him, and let him deal with the deluge of social scorn that he deserves. If he's a big enough man to racially motivate himself to push a kid that wasn't doing anything at all, then he's a big enough man to deal with the consequences.

Shine a light on this behavior, internet.

I'm glad they're taking a second look at it, even if only to save face. That judge should be absolutely ashamed of herself.

maybe tomorrow it rains
Reading the article is just sad. Participating in track was huge for this kid, and now that's fucked. Hopefully this gains traction and something happens as a result.

>says he fears his wife is going to get mugged

>actively gets out of car and escalates "situation"

yeah fuck off guy, no excuse for this

he should have been charged
