CONFIRMED: COD:IW & MWR - no crossplay support between Win10 Store and rest of PC

People shitting on OP because of local boy but anybody who has used, looked at, or heard of the Windows store knows that this is going to be true. MKB is "too good" for casual shooters like Gears and CoD and so they prevent crossplay even though these games are not twitch shooters like CSGO, and Steam and GOG games barely offer crossplay (Shadow Warrior 2 being the only one I know of).

How does anyone get into a conversation about the Win 10 store and COD with a stranger on a train?

That is hilarious though. Wonder if it's MS's policies forcing that.

Possibly but I think it probably has more to do with licensing issues from Activision as it seems to only be the remaster and not IW, especially as MS is looking into allowing crossplay between Xb1 and PC for Gears and already allows it for Forza. There has to be some legal reason why W10 cannot play with Steam or Origin.

Dude on the train, eh? Would you say he was a...crazy buttocks?

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised that this is true. I expected as much, to be honest.

kind off topic, did uwp version of Tomb Raider get 20th anniversary content update and other post launch updates like that? or did they just abandon it? wondering what kind of support is there, like is CoD going to get DLC here? I had no idea this was being released btw lol.

It's both.

I was laughing at the absurdity of the situation so I messed up the thread title but it's in the first line in red, unless you're a dog then it's greenish.

Store page has a price for it, so they patched it.

For you.
Lol, why are people not believing OP? It's fucking Win 10 game, and CoD has always used Steamworks servers. I don't need to even wait for release to guarantee 100% that cross-play won't happen-

Er-Is it Windows Store only? Because AFAIK it'll be on Steam with Infinite Warfare, thereby the community on PC will be there instead of the 5 copies blindly sold to idiots on the Windows Store.

People are really buying fron Windows Store instead of Steam?

No legal reasons, just Microsoft taking their ball and going home and trying to get people in their garbage walled garden.
If this is actually true would Microsoft have to refund all these?
Nope, cus the single player would probably work alright. That said, I've heard they'll never deny a refund since they know the store is shit lol.

Did this train conversation actually happen, or did you just base it off the lyrics to Don't Stop Believin'?

Just a city boy,
Born and raised in South Detroit,
He took the midnight train,
Goin' anywhere

The question is where has it been said that the PC version will be sold on the MS store.

Is this really happening?

The Windows Store for even First party downloads is difficult enough to manage - but isolating the community? Eeeeesh if true.

this should be easy to test, all someone has to do is buy the pc version on the windows store...

Interestingly Tomb Raider did get updated, however Quantum Break was abandoned and never received the DX11 renderer made for the Steam version.

I will take that bet....100% the other way...no way Microsoft would take them game if there was that stipulation

Only thing i can think of is activision is publishing it on the windows store for a laugh (which microsoft couldnt' stop them from doing)

EDIT: also bizarre is why wouldn't we hear anything concrete on this version if the game is coming out tomorrow? The whole thing seems unlikely to happen

Ah looking at the Xbox app, Phil Spencer clearly unlocked an achievement for the PC version.

Why are people believing OP? He literally has given no proof of it being a reality.
Also why would Activision release 2 versions of the game on PC when they can just do one.

Why is this shocking?
I mean games like Dying Light use separate servers between gog and steam version (which makes the gog version infinitely worse even if it's drm free).

Also why would anybody get the UWP version?
Getting the Xbox version digital to play pc and Xbone (if it's even possible for this game) is currently a pretty bad idea for games that are available somewhere else (Steam).

That's the same as me saying oh look someone gave me a USB with Dead Island 2 on it now believe me GAF.

Also why would Activision release 2 versions of the game on PC when they can just do one.

I really doubt that Activion:

a) Isn't using steamworks this time
b) is using steamworks but worked on a extensive cross-play solution between steam and xbox live

Neither of those seem likely in the slightest. If a W10 exists it won't have crossplay.

A guess: MS is giving them a pitty dollar to have a AAA third party game on their store, so they are shitting out a version to their shitty ass store for those MS bucks.
