If you knew I was joking why reply with that garbage?

Maybe she already knows I have it set aside and she already has our next trip planned out and paid for.
Because being dishonest about big purchases and intentionally keeping your wife out of those decisions is manipulative and probably sexist, honestly. I'm not trying to pile on you, but if someone jokes about that kind of stuff, I'm gonna question it.

About where I expected the release date to be.

So you feel yourself so important that you'll question and insult on other people's life and character?

You read that post but not my following for what? To get a ruse out of me? You will insult someone you don't know because you feel like you're some self righteous ass hole.

Seriously, what next? Now you will act upset over my response to you when you flat out insulted me and my character?

I won't end this post the way I would like to because you're not worth me losing my Gaf account over. Go enjoy being the Internet police and the champion of whatever the hell you're trying to be the champion of.

Mario at release is absolutely feasible. They've been working on it for years, and the footage shown displays a lot of specific, polished components in place.

Not saying they will of course, or even if it's likely, but the developmental time frame and the footage shown is realistic for a March release.

You never know with that studio. Everything they do is dripping with tons of polish more so than pretty much anyone else in the industry. I wouldn't be surprised if it weren't up to their standards yet.

Perhaps I'm biased, but I think they should be given a blank check and as much time as they need to create their first Switch game.

I don't expect the new 3D Mario on launch month because there's very little time to promote the game as big as 3D Mario. It's probably an E3 showcase then will be available near or during holidays.

As for the launch titles, I expect the following 1st party games:

- Zelda BotW
- Splatoon enhanced
- Mario Kart 8 enhanced
- A totally new, unannounced game

We'll probably see some additional 2-3 games within 3 months. Maybe more ports, or maybe new games from the January announcement. I expect to see Pikmin 4 in January announcement, but will be released a month or two after launch to promote the game some more. Then at E3, they'll probably do the bigger reveals, and maybe more Wii U ports. Some of the games I expect to see at E3:

- The new 3D Mario
- Smash Bros 4 port
- Retro Studios' new IP
- Pokemon game from Game Freak
- A new HAL game
- New Monolithsoft game
- Exclusive 3rd party games from Japanese partners like Bamco, Capcom, KT, Platinum, SEGA/Atlus

Some of which will slowly trickle until the end of next year, and some will probably get to 2018-2019 like your usual HD games nowadays.

I still feel like we'll get the Smash 4 port either at launch or before E3, unless Nintendo has another major Amiibo-selling game on Day 1. Plus Nintendo will likely want the Smash 4 scene to drop the Wii U as soon as possible.

Breath of the Wild does have three amiibo confirmed already, could qualify. I see your point on them wanting the dedicated scene to Switch ASAP, but I think we'd have seen Smash teased alongside Kart and Splatoon if they were aiming to release it before E3. It works great as an E3 title, a holiday release...

'Sides, two months' announcement before release seems way too little for it, considering how likely it is that it won't be just a port of the Wii U version. Especially if there's gonna be new characters, they'd do better to keep the hype rollin' until release. It's something they have done ever since Melee, too.

By that logic, the Switch's launch would be pretty sparse. And it probably wouldnt be favorable for Nintendo to still have the Wii U be used at EVO 2017.

Would that really matter? I don't see the issue in letting Smash Wii U have one final year at EVO, like how 2011 was MVC3's first and final year before UMVC3.

I feel that the reason they didn't show Smash 4 in Switch trailer is because they are preparing it for the bigger stage. Besides, Smash 4 scene will still use the Wii U for most of the year anyway unless saves and unlockable stuff gets transferred to Switch.

Smash 4 missing at launch does not really harm the system. Having Zelda, MK8 and Splatoon at launch are pretty big already. Save the other big ports some other time to give way to new games. Wii U at Evo 2017 does not really do anything. Nintendo can simply flood the streams with Switch ads to promote the system and the games.

Yeah, Smash news is a much bigger deal than MK or Splatoon noise, especially when character reveals are involved. It would be pretty weird to shove it into a 3 min teaser.

Of course they're saving more surprises, games we know nothing about that will likely be right there at launch, but Smash is its own beast and I feel 2 months from announcement to release is unusually short. Then again, so is formally unveiling the Switch with a tease 5 months before release, let alone doing a blowout conference with most details 2 months before it, so anything goes I guess lol.

Still, unless the additions are very slim (and I can't imagine they will if Sakurai has any say on it), I'm still banking on a holidays' release, even if they show it on January. Plus, despite the progress they've shown in embracing eSports, I don't see Nintendo caring to adjust their release schedule so it leads to EVO.

Super Mario Switch (title not confirmed) is supposed to feel like a combination of all previous 3D Mario titles. Control scheme supposedly somewhere between 64 and Sunshine.

*swoon*

MK8, Smash, and Splatoon will have ‘Directors Cut’ editions at launch, which include previous DLC plus new content. If you own them digitally on Wii U you can download them for FREE

Despite being a physical collector, this sounds very appealing to me but I'm cautious about post-launch server issues...

From the source

Switch bundles will be $260 for basic, $300 for Mario bundle, and $340 for Zelda bundle with Pro Controller.r.

$249 is a good price, $259 is pushing it.

$299 Mario bundle with Mario Switch? I'm calling bullshit, it's too close to the $259 basic switch and will they release with Mario + Zelda?

$349 Zelda + Pro Controller + Zelda Amiibo sounds like a good proposition.

How reliable is the source? They seem to be pulling things out of their ass like 2-player Mario Switch

I'm confused by that article; it sounds like they're citing Laura for all of them, yet I don't think Laura tweeted about those things (besides the release date). Even their NFC link goes to the wrong tweet...

Sounds like a bunch of bullshit lol
Especially the "free upgrade" part.
Not even VC games were free

Lmao at this bs.

Sounds like someone looked at the trailer and made stuff up. Fake.

Just checked her tweets and realized my slip-up. Don't I feel silly. -_____-

I call BS on this from the standpoint of two things.

1) if Nintendo releases Mario, Zelda, Smash, Splatoon, and MK8 all at once it will not only cannibalize some of Nintendo's own software sales, it would certainly cannibalize third party sales. Unless the rumor of no third party games at launch is real.

2) Nintendo is not going to upgrade Wii u owners for free, especially if additional content had been added.

I read their other Switch articles, it's a lot of conjecture. I am usually all about rumors, but I have zero faith in these.

How'd people feel if Star Fox Zero got a reworked port with traditional controls and better graphics? I think it'd be a good idea to attempt to save that franchise haha.

I know you meant this as a joke, but it comes off as pretty disrespectful and manipulative. Have integrity and be honest with your wife, man.
Lmaowut!? Even in his joke scenario he was 100% honest with his wife.

Back on topic, if the Switch is in fact released on the 17th Nintendo better have some sick party games and local multiplayer games for some drunken fun. Monkey Ball port please!

I think they do this at some point. I also think they add three on three multiplayer.

They'd have a buyer here. I really tried to adapt to those controls but couldn't. :/

One of the main reasons I don't think Smash Bros. will be a launch game is because I can't see Nintendo passing up the opportunity to have it at E3.

Free upgrades? From Nintendo!? As if.

I bought all my games physical sadly if that's really the case, because this would be a great deal if true.

Pretty much everyone I know who has played this has a problem with the control set up. If they fixed that and reworked it every so slightly it'd be a great game.

You don't get a Zelda and a Mario at launch. Install base is to small for both. Mario will be the Xmas title.
Zelda and some ports of Wii-U games most likely.

Not to mention, Zelda is a Wii U port in a sense. So surely there must be at least one switch exclusive from Nintendo at launch.

Am I the only one that thinks the launch window will have a lot more unannounced/unrevealed games than ports/deluxe versions of Wii U games? I'd expect those ports to come in over the first year, but I doubt we'll see them all at launch. Maybe Smash at launch, but I don't see more than that.

During the Switch lifetime sure - but they wont drop all those ports in the first couple months. They will have to balance out new releases and re-releases. Smash, Splatoon and Mario Kart are hitting in the first 12 months because complete new games in those series wont be ready anytime soon while a new 3D Mario seems to be ready and the team had enough time since 3D World.

I agree with both of you. I could be convinced either way which of the ports will hit at launch, but you both make good arguments as to why they won't all hit day one.

Europe got 3DS a whole 2 days before North America.

Missing Mar10 game. But uhh, they could tie in Zelda with St. Patrick's Day.

Except this time he's wearing blue. Damn!

Ive waffled back and forth on this hut I'm starting to think between BOTW and potential Splatoon or MK amiibo, not to mention any amiibo tied to any unannounced launch games, they might actually want an entirely separate launch for smash with new smash and reprinted smash amiibo. It might be felt to be unrealistic for customers to get switch, games and a whole plethora of amiibo at launch, in that sense they might prefer to launch smash and a slew of new and amiibo with it a month or two after launch when it can have a standalone smash launch with some dedicated buzz specifically about it. Just spitballing here. :)

about two weeks ago whilst looking at the calendar at work I thought the 17th was the most likely date in the UK.

originally I thought the 20th but realised that would be a Monday and the 24 (Friday) seemed late in the month.

Yea Smash Bros will take much longer to port to Switch due to creating and balancing new characters and moves, and I think they would want to have about 4 or 5 new characters to add to Smash. Mario Kart, Splatoon and Mario Marker will be way faster to port.

The games they showed off Kart and Splatoon was shown with new content, Smash bros like to have those surprise trailers for its new content, and I think Mario Maker wasnt shown due to Mario Maker 3DS already being announced

500$ is my magic number also. This is how launch day is going to go for me.

Walks in Gamestop spends 500$ to 520$. Proceeds to come home.

Wife: Hey, Mike what did you get?

Me: Nintendo Switch, controller, and few games.

Wife: What? How much did you spend!?

Me: around 500$.

Wife: You what!?!?!

Me: I'm a man!!!!

Wife: Say that again!?

Me: The city had the man hole cover off because of all the excess water.

Wife:

Me: look. If yoy want I'll resort to prostitution to make back the money.

Wife: (most likely) Hahaha.. you owe us a family trip now.

Me: No problem. If you want go look up prices and book wherever you want to go.

I'd hate being you, my lady is debating if we should buy 1 or 2 at launch, sheesh.
