Anyone know if stock will pop up on release day in America? It was only in stock for preorder once and never popped again. If they do this with the Switch, I'm going to be pissed. lmao Seeing its reception, the Switch is going to burn that 2 million preorder stock fast.

If you are really worried about getting one then just plan on being up at 3am on Nov. 11th refreshing the Amazon page.

It is very sad that Nintendo can't meet demand of a reproduction of a console released in the 1980s which is nothing but cheap plastic and cheap innards.

Do you guys think my 5 year old nephew would appreciate this or a Nintendo 2DS more?

And if you think the 2DS, what games and where do you think I could get the best deal for two systems?

The kid would probably be more into contemporaneous games that he could play with his friends and whatnot rather than some shit that came out decades before he was born, so I'd go 2DS.

It's insane that they made the cables on the controllers so short. I assume most people have big TVs and don't want to sit two feet away from them.

It's to capture that mid-80s feel of sitting on the carpet in front of the TV, like we used to do.

Yeah i got a bean bag in the front room that will be specifically used for this.

I might pop into town on release day and see if i can pick one up, if not i just treat it as a day out with my camera , if so, straight back on the bus home haha.

How short is the cord for the controller? At work so I can't see.

Can anyone link to Amazon the other controllers it can use? I think I want/need a back-up that will actually work so I do not have to sit 3 inches from my TV.

Well, I really think the short cords are due the extremly small box the console is packed in.
The box itself is apparently smaller than a NES game cartridge.

I will just throw that thing on my couch and get a 5-6m Hdmi cable.
it's easier and more comfortable to change games too

or you could buy a cheap cord extension

What about the power? It runs off Mircro USB so I guess you could use one of those power bank batteries...

Why do you want this?
It depends on the game, I'd prefer it on some more than others.

But for a side scrolling shooter like Gradius, or some of the platformers, I'd like it to use the full width of my screen. I play such games stretched on my Pi all the time.

Has Target ever canceled preorders because they didn't actually have the stock to do preorders? I'm kind of worried about it.

Slightly bummed there is no stretch/16:9 mode.

Why? That would ruin the look of the games.

I think Nintendo probably isnt that interested in selling you this thing. They want to sell you a Switch, but are using this (and Pokemon Go and Super Mario Run) to increase general awareness and interest in Nintendo. So you see this product and starts thinking about how awesome those Nintendo-games really are, but when you cant get one, you are still thinking about how awesome those games are three months later when the Switch comes out. This thing is purely a marketing tool, which is why they dont care to meet demand.

$60 for a NES reproduction shell tho? Aren't there cheaper 3D printed ones on Etsy made specifically to raspberry pi dimensions?

Ya the case is bad ass. I could sell the controller for 10 bucks and then maybe sell the mobo down the road on eBay if someone needs a replacement. If not, either way I'd live to put my Pi all up in that shit!

Won't be buying with a 3 foot cord. I'm sick of Nintendo putting out systems that are structurally flawed(No Ethernet, no hard drive, no length to a cord).
