DF guys sound a bit disappointed with UC4 overall. 1080p for multiplayer is nice though.

Yeah. I will be downsampling, but it would've been great to get it from a higher res. They don't seem to be adding a better motion blur either.

I expected more from ND tbh.

Just want i wanted from it.
To bad that ND did not put much work into UC .
Still at the end of the day i buying it for upcoming titles and better IQ .
So i expect things to get better as time goes on .

I honestly just cancelled my pre-order, I'll wait until more reviews come in. But not taking that risk.

And pre-order cancelled :/

.... thankfully i'll be not getting one before christmas. Let's see what's reported until then, and what to do to alleviate the noise - maybe this time around, putting it vertically could actually be beneficial.

I'm really confused with the 4k and 4k checker board.
This Gamespot video says Battlefield 1 at 4k 60FPS:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7EgX8RVXa0

I assume its not native 4k.
But is it just upscaled to 4k and 60FPS? And whats the native resolution? Or is it using checker boarding? And whats the base resolution from which they are checker boarding from?

Maybe because they had to do two patches (TLoU and U4).

U4 still have a DLC to come. So, maybe they will do another patch for U4 on Pro.

I honestly disagree with Digital Foundry on the fan noise. I mean, I'm not saying they're wrong because they're clearly measuring it, but I've found it to be quieter than the Slim personally.

Your mileage may vary, I guess.

Judging by DF's article, TR seems to be the title that brings by far the most to the table for us 1080p users. I might have to buy the game just to support their efforts.

Will I have to back up my PS4 data to an external hard drive, or can I just magically connect them and transfer the data, without using my router.

I use a wireless router, thanks.

Really positive review from DF.

Sony has outdone themselves with the PRO. I'm still amazed at the size of this thing. as small as X1S with 3x the power.
I don't know what world you are living in but from the comparison pics i've seen so far the Pro is a considerably bigger console than the Xbox One S.

You need to connect them with an ethernet cable.

You can do the backup method as well.

Shame they couldn't do that for the SP too.

Heck even a 900p 60fps mode if that's too hard.

Also the shadows are still bad in Uncharted.

The pro could definitely do 1080 60fps for Uncharted SP.

There's nothing in UC4 that ROTTR doesn't do.In fact,ROTTR looks a lot more impressive to me.

MGSV ps4 was a c-chassis correct?

That thing is damn near silent

Yep.

I had a launch ps4 and later got a c-chassis one and the difference is big.
If the pro is the same as the c-chassis then it's totally fine.

Digital Foundry:

"In terms of the acoustic performance of the Pro, it has much more in common with the c-chassis PS4 than the Slim"

I honestly disagree with Digital Foundry on the fan noise. I mean, I'm not saying they're wrong because they're clearly measuring it, but I've found it to be quieter than the Slim personally.

Even quieter than Slim? Woo.

Power consumption is better than expected, only slightly more than a launch model when running games in 4k mode, much less when running non-pro 1080p games.

I'd like to know how much power is required when playing Pro games downsampled to 1080p.

Going to set my PS4 to back up as I go to bed on Wednesday... I look forward to my first day with the Pro being spent restoring the drive when I get home from work Thursday.

See ya'll Friday!

DF said the levels are fine but the pitch of the noise is different. I'm sure it won't be an issue for the majority though.

Fan noise is always hit or miss. People on here are complaining about the PS4 fan and I never have any issues.

Pro is now confirmed to downsample games at higher internal rendering. Some people were concerned about whether or not that would be the acse or those options would be greyed out, so here it is.
However, some games do see the developer stick to 1080p rendering, instead pushing the Pro's GPU to pump out more frames.
Am I reading it wrong in that not all games do it? Just from reading the main review it sounds like inFamous doesn't super sample and boosts frame rate instead. Which I'd actually take stable/better frame rate over super sampling in action games any day.

Sounds like a lot of games are actually straight up upscaling right now rather than implementing checkerboard rendering. That's super super disappointing.

I didnt think about this until now, but how is the PS4 handling 4K tv sets? Is it just outputting UHD with black bars, or will it output true 4K

That would depend on the load it puts on the CPU as well. Maybe the GPU is up to the task, but not the CPU. Hard to know when we can't profile the game.
