Damn, I never noticed that my OG PS4 menu was blurry on my 4K screen until I saw the Pro image. So so crisp! And UI is fast, keyboard popping instantly, everything smooth as hell.

Your router is 10/100 and so is limiting the transfer rate. If you can, set it up so the ethernet cable goes directly from one PS4 to the other, and you'll get ~10x the transfer speed.

What would be the fastest transfer over a gigabit router or two ps4's directly connected?

Not sure if the Call of Duty promotion code I received for buying the Pro through Amazon is tied to my account but, if it's not, I will give it to whoever wants $20 off a purchase of the game. I know I'll never use it. Nothing against the game, I just don't enjoy shooters.

I just see HDR and 30 frames. My TV doesn't have HDR

The labelling is pretty bad in game for a lot of titles. For TLOU turning on the "30fps" option means the game runs at 4K with improved shadows while disabling it runs at 1800p 60fps. The latter is much better in my opinion unless you really want the high end shadows.

Put in the 2TB firecuda, and just finished restoring as well.

First thing I did was go to the media player. I was hoping Sony would've put out a Media Player update by today for the Pro (like they did for PSVR), supporting 4k/hdr video. Kinda disappointed. Will try out some games, but I know my TV currently doesn't do HDR via the proper (YUV) method (waiting on a firmware update). Gonna see if anything's noticeable via the RGB method.

So I installed my old 2tb drive last night. I copied my Daves to USB and just wiped it. Downloadabl games over night is easier than copying to hdd in my eyes. Tried Ratchet and Holy crap it looks stunning. Blown away by its image quality. Tried Dishonoured 2 and was less impressed. Image quality is great but motion blur and frame rate is rooough. I heard this game has some optimisation issues on Pc, so maybe not too surprising but boy.. pretty rough. Makes me realise good looking 1080p60 is my preference where I can get it. Will try tlou and first light and a few others tonight

If you've got a PSVR what then - you need to buy another one? I've used my old HDMI leads from my OG PS4 (I've only got a 1080p tv) and left the new one in the box.

If you've just got a 1080p TV then the type of HDMI cable you use doesn't matter. It only matters for HDR.

Did anyone else's Download and/or Upload speeds skyrocket going from regular PS4 to the Pro?

I normally have about 100 down on my computer but would max at 25-30 usually on my PS4. I tested when I set up and now I'm close to 90 down. Didn't matter if it was 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz.

I thought that was the case - what happens when I eventually get a 4K set, will I have to swap HDMI leads depending on whether I want to play in 4K or use the PSVR?

Have you installed the NINE GIGABYTE Patch for Dishonored 2 that supposedly makes it run a lot better?

Yeah sorry I was just talking about 4k native. I think pretty much all games use some type of checkerboard, don't they?
There's actually some native titles, but yeah you're either getting 4K or increased fps as the baseline.

IW might be the best looking game I've seen so far. I'm blown away by the difference from PS4 to Pro.

Here too. But I'm pretty sure it's the fan on mine. Or maybe both.

Still worth it for how fantastic the games look.

DUDE! Make one!

Could it be that the games aren't 100% installed? Popped about 15 games in and out in a short period of time. Now gonna play R&C for a while and see if the noise level goes down.

I'm transferring with the same setup. Mine is 240GB but will take 6 hours! :(

Same. It seems you need two Ethernet cables that are rated CAT.5e (not just CAT .5) to make the process much, much faster. Unfortunately. I only have one .5e cable. You need both to make it transfer faster. :(

You can check your Ethernet cable s category by checking the actual cable. The sides have writing all over it, find the CAT part and see if it's .5, .5e, .6, etc

So, I just got an Email from Amazon.com thanking me for purchasing PS4 PRO. They gave me a Promo code for $20 off CoD: IW standard or legacy ed. valid only until Nov. 15th.

Not sure if I'll use it, but .. nice.

No, they were I'm afraid.

I think the back vents may not have enough room though. I'm gonna see if that makes a difference.

Still love the thing though!

It should apply to the console you buy it on. But you have a month to buy it from memory.

I got my PS4 in June 2014, and bought the plan a few weeks later.

Yea I just wasn't sure as the consoles listed were PS4, PS3 and Vita. I called customer support and they said yes it can apply to PS4 Pro as well. So I grabbed it, Best Buy didn't give me a receipt though so I may need to go back for that.

Finally got to test out remote play for my PC. My PS4 Pro is wired via gigabit router which connects via ethernet to my desktop and 5ghz wifi to my laptop. In both cases the remote play experience at 1080p was significantly better than the original PS4 experience at 720p.

The image quality was much better; on my 24" desktop monitor I was able to notice some pixelation/muddiness during camera movement, but on my 15" laptop it was much harder to notice and the image quality looked as sharp as anything I've seen from steam streaming at 1080p.

On the OG PS4 I was unable to use 5ghz wifi because it caused stutters every 5-10 seconds as though the video was having to resync with the stream, but with PS4 Pro that issue never occurred. I never saw a single network hiccup over 20 minutes of play on 5ghz wifi, and my laptop was ~20 ft away from my router through several walls.

Input latency is harder to measure without a hardware setup. In general I would say that the latency felt somewhere in between the OG PS4 via local network and via direct connect. It wasn't quite as snappy as direct connect, but it did seem improved enough from the >100ms of local network on the original PS4 that I felt like I could play Titanfall 2 comfortably (in campaign, I'm not sure whether you would notice it more in multiplayer). I'm someone who is very sensitive to input latency, so by "comfortably" I mean that the latency felt low enough that I could play the game without feeling like I had to adapt my muscle memory to a small delay.

Overall, I'm very happy with the improvements.

Anyone know why I can't enable 2160p RGB mode? It say it's not supported. It's a ks8000 Samsung which works just fine on xbox one.

Liking what I'm reading thus far, should I just go pick one up now? I did just get a 4K tv, I was going to wait a bit longer to see what the word is. But if its that damn good I'll get it

Not sure why RGB would be having problems getting enabled, but just a FYI, if you want proper HDR, you should be going for YUV.

A few questions:

1. Is standing the thing vertically without the stand a bad idea? I can't find it anywhere in Canada. Sony what the fuck?

2. Is using my 5G wireless connection better now that it supports it?

I also have the 8k series and had the same problem. When I enabled hdmi uhd color to the source 3. Where I have my PS4 installed it enabled it

I have the UK KS7000 and everything is available, do you have UHD colour enabled on the TV's settings for the HDMI you use for the PS4?

Also are you passing through the PSVR Box?

There's a giveaway thread for these codes atm. If you're not going to use it in the long run, may want to toss it out over there for a fellow gaffer to use =)
