If we're allowed to have race-specifc OT's, we should be allowed to just have the main OT in the fucking OT anyway. It's a joke tbh.

Lets not get carried away. None of the sports have their main thread in OT, whether that is NBA, NFL, Footy, Wrestling or MMA. They all reside in Community, it makes sense for the F1 main thread to be there to.

In the same vein, all these threads make event specific threads (within reason), like MMA-GAF having threads for PPV's and the bigger UFC Fight Night's, for instance. A thread to discuss F1 races is no different in that regard.

You might not agree with the purpose of existence of the Community section, and I'm personally not a huge fan of it either, but you can't say the rules aren't universally applied.\

Anyways, let's keep this topic for discussing the race at hand. :)

Hoping Rosberg has some sort of issue, if he spends these last few races cruising round for 2nd's it's going to be shit. Redbull or someone else needs to take it to them.

I'm hoping for another Hamilton title but with the way his luck has run this year, it'll be him that has a DNF or some other problem before Rosberg.

Whats the calculations now, Hamilton really has to win and hope Rosberg comes at least 3rd or lower in the next two races? Doesn't seem likely.

EDIT: Nice OT though. Glad I don't have to bother with these anymore, I've lost interest in discussing F1 now.

Why can't the main OT be in the OT anyway?

There is an image in the OP on where Rosberg/Hamilton need to finish for Rosberg to become champ. Any scenario where Hamilton outscores Rosberg postpones the descision to the final race.

No-one explained. The previous OT was in Off-Topic for its entire ~20000 post run, but when OT2 was created it got moved to Community. Oh well, I don't really care. Race-specific OTs in Off-Topic is awesome.

Re @RenaultSportF1 talking to other drivers MAG joked: "I think at one point the Pope had an offer, I heard. It was a bit messy..."

Even KMag is taking the piss with Palmer being last on a very long list.

It's not exactly an outlandish bet, but I'm finding it very likely that a technical DNF or crash will cost Nico the championship in these last two races. Finishing second behind Hamilton can only work for so long before an unexpected event puts a wrench into his points conservation plan.
Hopefully, I don't like the fact he just settles for 2nd knowing it's enough. Ideally they should go to last race with less than 7 points apart so whoever wins at Yas Marina takes it.

Because technically it's a community thread. Except it dies every time it gets moved.

I'm too far gone for reason when it comes to community & the F1 thread. The last two years the thread has basically been dead because it was moved to community each time. This year I guess we slipped under the radar until OT2 came about. It's just fucked me off ever since they introduced the community forum. But rules are rules.

Either way, looking forward to Hamilton's engine teleporting to another dimension and Rosberg taking the title this weekend. Will be an emotional weekend for Massa too.

I really, really hope we get some competition next year. As much as I am a fan of Hamilton, I'm so bored of Mercedes. Give me 2010's championship again.

I have a radical solution: double points last race

Joking aside, hopefully the rain puts a fire underneath him. I'm rooting for Rosberg tbh but you can tell he's coasting. A wet track is gonna favor the red bulls and I'd love to see Ricciardo split the Mercedes, or beat them.

Nice send off at his home GP. Maybe he'll podium like 2012? That was an amazing GP! I wish the season still ended in Brazil. :(

Let's see if Hamilton manage to do a good race.

If could you and postpone the championship to the last race would be great.

Actually, would prefer if Max won the race and Lewis became second in case of a Rosberg DNF, that way the difference between them is one point (in favor of Nico), then again, if Lewis wins the difference would be six points in his favor and the points difference between first and second would still make the difference.

Yeh I was trying to work the graphic out, it makes zero sense to me.

However it matters little, as anything but a Hamilton win all but means Rosberg would need a DNF at the final race, which seems incredibly unlikely.

It tells you what position Lewis needs to finish in for Rosberg to become champion for each of the positions he can finish in. If he finishes first he's champion regardless of Lewis' position.

I'm not sad to see Massa leave the sport at all. I hope and I'm sure that he found some peace at Williams, but he should've left years ago. Nothing but baggage.

Like Barrichello before him he overstayed his welcome by a good 4 or 5 years at least. So yeah, I'm inclined to agree that it's good he's moving over.

Not sure we're trading up with Stroll, but we'll see.

I wasn't really watching F1 at the time to see him in his prime but after his accident he spent the rest of his career getting outshined by his teammates, in case of Alonso dramatically so. Maybe the Ferrari team orders are what finally broke him but going from almost-champion to "guy who scraps together a few podiums while his teammate drags the car to the championship battle" really made him overstay his welcome.

Nice OT, OP.

Here's hoping for a Hammy / Massa 1-2. Rosberg DNF would be icing on the cake, a championship should have to be fought for, not handed to you on a platter.

Great Tip
Though it made me realize that F1 Quali and FE Race are at the same time. smh
I hope Liberty Media will check that this doesn't happen next year!

Fucksake. FE needs nurturing, not burying by the FIA. What a screw up.

Hamilton looking sharp in race trim. Red Bull not that far behind on their simulated stints. If we get changing conditions it could be a quite a battle.

I don't expect Hamilton to win the championship, but it would be nice if he can take it to the final race.

Having said that, this has always been my favourite track of the season. Even back to Super Monaco GP on the Mega Drive when it was Senna Vs Mansell it was an accurate depiction of it, the elevation change was the first time that I had seen something like that, and after racing around on the MD I would know every corner of Interlagos! I still know the track so well from that. Goodbye Massa, you'll be missed.

Haha, I think Interlagos is a well liked track by most people due to video games, it used to be the second race of the season growing up so it was always one of the first tracks most of us raced on. Same with Melbourne (being the first).

This is Alonso's take out of a later interview:
"I need to get up to speed with technology and improve my skills with that joystick [that controls the camera] now, which seems very, very sensitive," said Alonso.

"They told me over the radio they would broadcast from that camera [Sergio] Perez arriving, so I tried to find Perez, but I found the sky and the asphalt instead, but not Perez!

"I feel very bad about my poor performance with the camera. I am thinking of going back later on to have some practice with that camera with the Porsche Cup in case tomorrow I stop again.

On the other hand, he was instrumental in bringing Rob Smedley to Williams and the change in professionalism since he joined is something they can both be proud of.

Sometimes a driver brings more than just out and out performance.

Gah - 10pm highlights on channel 4. Might try a day pass to sky sports and watch on my iPad, Brazil is usually a good race to watch

Edit: oh I have a free day pass on my account, cool.
