PS4 Pro sold 65,194 consoles in Japan in the first 4 days after its release (Nov 10-13) according to Famitsu.

The regular PS4 sold 28,318 consoles between November 7-13 meaning total PS4 sales last week were 93,512 units. PS4 has now sold 3,445,990 consoles life to date in Japan (based off Famitsu's number for PS4 LTD).

For comparison the PS4 Slim sold 96,000 in its first week and that model costs substantially less than PS4 Pro (PS4 slim costs 29,980 Yen and PS4 Pro costs 44,980 Yen).

This is a better result than PS4 Pro had in the UK where it sold 42,000 in its first week.

I guess this is kind of alright? I never expected big numbers from Japan for the Pro in the first place but I'm still somewhat underwhelmed with the numbers we have gotten for it so far.

I don't think it's a bad score but it's certainly not great. If you combine PS4Pro and Slim first week I think it barely sells over what the PS3 Slim did on its first week. But I haven't verified, I may be slightly off.

For those wondering this is essentially 2x the number the PS4 by itself performed last week for Pro numbers. Take that what you will

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Solid start for Japan - but i doubt this model will play a big role in that market.

well, for the japanese home console market..that's actually pretty good.

Edit: afaik the PS4 Pro is still sold out on amazon.co.jp

These are actually impressive numbers if we consider the release of the Slim and how Japan doesn't care much about the better hardware. Not sure why people are trying to downplay it.

No one's trying to downplay it, people are trying to make them big. Impressive ? As I said, either people forgot how big the japanese market was or just got used to the sorry state of the market there.
If we consider Slim release, we'd have to remember how OG PS4 sales fell down the 2 or 3 weeks before Slim release. 65k for a new hardware is NOT an impressive number. But as I said, it's not a bad or alarming number either. It's mediocre or average. That's all.

Its kind of meh in both the UK and Japan. Its not bombing but its not exactly lighting up the charts. I'm really curious what NPD is going to look like

What were you expecting ?
If we go by what Sony think they will ship even they don't expect big numbers .
1 to 2 million the most this year .

yes the Japanese market has fallen but it's not like any company has done this before .
Unlike the slim this system cost more not less.
You really can't comapre to this to a slim models which normally comes with a price drop.

This is a good number as a launch number but I don't think it's going to be much of a start at all. Keep in mind that in the first 4 days, 46,492 units of PSVR was sold just a month ago. I wouldn't be surprised if pretty much all those VR early adopters also got a Pro. When you think about it like, I think it makes more sense why they managed to have a good bump - because the system isn't just seen as a mid-cycle upgrade, but an essential upgrade for those who are interested in getting the most out of PSVR. Outside of that I don't expect the Pro to be the popular choice moving forward, especially with the FFXV LE Slim coming in a week's time.

I don't expect big numbers or long legs going forward either. Seems like the enthusiastic fans bought it day 1 but the rest will just wait and see how much support it gets. It is not like they are rushing to buy 4K TV in Japan.

I wasn't expecting a ton, and then again its not performing a ton.

Its more just a comment for those that thought this was going to bring a huge difference to performance. From what we are seeing this isn't really highly reflective in any market (but NA still remains to be seen)

For a market that will have fewer big 4K TV's in homes simply due to space issues, and a mobile centric gaming population that has never truly embraced HD console games, it's actually slightly better than I expected.

There's no point in trying to draw any real wider trend from Japanese sales. It's it's own unique, weird little market, and the PS4Pro was never designed with it in mind.
