This is an idea that I don't think anyone would have expected, but for some reason It makes sense.

Well, I mean it's not like the idea of another Mario RPG needs the Rabbids for some reason. It makes sense in the context of Nintendo having to offer Ubisoft access to their characters in exchange for their Switch support. In that specific context I think it's a marvellous idea, I just hope the execution is where it needs to be.

Why not just make a 2D Rayman and Mario Platformer. I'd love to have had a Mario game on the Rayman 2D graphics engine.

So if the leaks are coming from Ubisoft and the other leak says BG&E is coming to Switch, I guess that's as close to confirming it as a sure thing as we're gonna get until the official announcement.

Why would Nintendo let someone else make a 2D platformer? They have that covered with multiple developers.

My guess is this is something different that brings a genre not always well represented on Nintendo consoles.

Because Ubisoft wants to boost the Rabbids. They are on TV, they are more popular than Rayman among kids, they could help to defend Independence against Vivendi.

Rayman will be in the next NSMB or just in Smash.

Somehow the idea of Mario x Rabbids sounds odd, but Toads x Rabbids sounds more appealing. Feels like a better fit, just like Mario x Rayman.

If it has a focus on minor Mario characters then I'm pretty curious about what Ubisoft will do with it either way

I doubt that... Probably a sprite in Mario Maker if he isn't already.

Wow those are some pretty big leaps you're taking eh?

Well...that's why I'm asking. If we're getting Mario RPG/Rabbids and the leaks are coming from ubisoft and are backed up by the same sources then it's probably safe to assume the BG&E leak is true as well, especially given the announcement of a game in the works came after the initial rumors. Not really a leap in the face of all that.

Do we know if they're the same sources though? Like I could say Half-life 3 is confirmed, my source is Ubi, but that doesn't mean my source is the same.

This thing sounds to out there to be real right?

Hoping it's not true? Would its existence really trouble you so? You don't have to buy it!
Eh, I can believe that some people are crazy enough to think this would tank Mario as a franchise.
I mean if people wanted jobs destroyed for Federation Force, let's tolerate it here too.

I'm 100% with you on this. It just makes sense. All these Switch leaks are due to this game and Ubisoft. A good amount of these leaks have been shared by the same person who broke the BGE Switch rumour. BGE of course is a Ubisoft game. Coincidence?

Well Federation Force destroyed jobs from its sales numbers regardless of people calling for it lmao, still confused as to who thought that was a good idea

Dunno, but I get the feeling that a source tied to a first party launch title would probably have important info about other Switch titles their company is working on. Especially if (and it makes sense to me that it would) said source comes from marketing...all speculation.

I dunno. I choose to believe :)

My dream collaboration would be Nintendo x Rockstar and be called Super Mario Bros. the Movie: Dinohattan.

It's a Mario Bros.-themed GTA game. Technology revolves around guns. Computer interfaces are guns. Cameras are guns. Pedestrian grandmas have guns. The streets are wild with armored and weaponized cars. The police can arrest you for singing Anti-Koopa songs, and attack you with flamethrowers. Go to a club for a QTE dance with Big Bertha. As either Mario Mario or Luigi Mario, you take on the remnants of President Koopa's regime, in a story more hauntingly relevant than ever.

Can you get some sources or else you can fuck off of complaining about other people here.

I'm not sure how that was interpreted as a complaint but I guess my figurative language about the sales numbers really triggered lol

Sooo... this is a thing that exists.

It's just baffling to me on so many levels. A Mario RPG from Ubisoft? Sure, you have my interest there.

A Mario and Rabbids crossover RPG game?... Why?
What do the Rabbids have to offer to Mario? Writing in Mario games is already pretty humorous.

Maybe I'm out of touch as to what's popular out there, but it seems to me that the Rabbids haven't been relevant for a decade. I've played a Rabbids Wii game, and I just can't help it but associate them with shovelware/trash.

I mean, if you're gonna do a Ubisoft crossover, then why not Rayman? Being a tactical RPG, this seems to be geared towards gamers, who associate the Rabbids with shovelware. Just a baffling decision all around. I'm curious how they're gonna market this.

Will get it if it's good, but keeping hype on the low for this one.

Sometimes wierd things end up being awesome things, just go back to the splatoon reveal and you will see alot of ppl complaining why it wasn't Mario or the ink idea was stupid, yet splatoon ended up being a hit after it was compared to W101 in terms of success.

We heard this rumor before here
http://www.inquisitr.com/3596334/new-nintendo-nx-rumor-system-connects-similar-to-chromcast/

A lot of the stuff in that link is true, but some of it is not like the chromcast thing for NX, but who knows maybe it will have something like that announced in Jan.

But for me is the fact that it says Splinter Cell is coming also

"Ubisoft is said to be working on Beyond Good and Evil 2 which has been in the news lately as well as Splinter Cell and a possible crossover with Rabbids and Yoshi."

If they unveil the new Splinter Cell at the Switch presentation Jan 12th I will freak out

I'm down. For some reason Rabbids don't bother me (though the Despicable Me Minions they probably spawned are the worst things ever put on film).

Ubisoft trying so hard to make rabbids a thing.

The rabbids series immediately started losing its steam after Travel In Time. Nobody gave a shit about rabbids land or the kinect game. I dont remember anything about Rabbids Go Home either. Ubisoft shoehorned them into TMNT Smash-Up as well.

Yeah is like selling rpg elements to those who like kiddy characters as yoshi lakitu shy guy or toad
I mean, it is almost impossible, especially with Nintendo behind pushing and supervising it, maybe the most inadequate company in dealing with this kind of target dichotomy

If 3D Mario and this Mario release at launch, every Gamestop/Walmart parking lot is gonna be filled with people fighting over the last Switch units.
