Magic: the Gathering |OT9| Kaladesh - Cruisin' Down the Street in my 6/4

In the search for a mill keyword, perhaps it might be better if instead of wording it as "target player __", it could be worded as "target player's library __".

Target player puts the top two cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard.
vs.
Target player mills 2.
vs.
Target player's library loses two cards.

Or it could instead be, "Target player's library loses its top two cards," to differentiate it from effects that mill from the bottom ("Your library loses its bottom card.").

They're not gonna ban Golgari Grave-Troll just so they don't have to ban a card they unbanned.

Cathardic Reunion and Amalgam are the cards to go if you aren't re-banning Grave Troll, which based on how much they have been walking back stuff recently, wouldn't be out of the question.

SCG Invi Top 8

Standard:

5 Aetherworks Marvel
2 B/G Delirum

Modern:

2 Dredge
2 Grixis Delver
1 Eldrazi
1 Infect
1 Jund
1 RG Breach

Banning those 2 only addresses the symptoms, not the root cause. Wizards would much rather nuke Grave-Troll and admit it was a mistake to unban it(and maybe Stinkweed Imp) then have to filter every card in Standard through the lens of "Is this better then Amalgam/Cathartic Reunion?"

The only sensible non-dredge creature to hit is Narcomeba because it's what starts the stupid dredge chains.

They've done it before!

Any ban they make from Dredge has to be oriented around keeping the deck viable and just reducing its ability to oppress the metagame. Dredge is among the cheapest significant decks in Modern and a ton of the people playing it right now are gonna be people who felt like it gave them a good route to buy into the format. Nuking it from orbit would be very shortsighted.

I saw this "budget" $20 deck here (which has raised in price now due to Pummler and Aether Hub going up in price) on the Tolarian Community College YT page.

This deck is so cute. It's cheap too, could be worth taking to FNM over winter break. I've got an extra green Gearhulk laying around, might just throw that in the deck as well.

Opened a Steam Vents in my Showdown pack today. \o/

Hooray! :D

I think that's a first from the showdown packs in this thread, no?

Played an intense game of EDH last night, me & two buddies. I was running Breya, my friends ran Atraxa & a Phanax mill deck.

What happened was Atraxa got out ahead early with little resistance, he ulted Tamiyo the Moon Sage. Next turn Phanax plays Traumatize, Atraxa puts all the cards (35+) into his hand. Following turn (after some shenanagans from Atraxa, meanwhile I sit there helpless thinking this is the end) Phanax casts Whispering Madness... milling Atraxa completely. And supplying me with a 54 card hand, with which I end the game quite quickly.

It was a great time

Prediction: Magic Digital Next is Standard-focused. Perhaps even spawning a new format... A Frontier-esque format. They already have that going right now. I imagine they continue this trend and double-down on it. I am super curious how confident they are in their game in the face of Hearthstone. They have the "better" game, but history shows that this doesn't really matter. Blizzard always wins; that's a better take-away, in my opinion.

Week 2 of Showdown, week 2 of getting garbage Showdown boosters. I enjoy playing my Standard deck but I have yet to see anyone get anything good from these packs.

4-4-1 at GP Denver.

Definitely misplayed my way to 2 losses.

Ran Steve Rubin's UB zombies list. Was super fun to play even if thought it's above my skill level.

Metallurgic Summonings going beast mode in the GP Denver stream.

On screen now: WU Panharmonicon vs Temur Aetherworks, both 10-0. Some variety is nice.

The card is good, but the planeswalkers are becoming very formulaic.

Here is my poor attempt at translating:

+2: Reveal the top 3 of your library. Put all Noland permanent cards revealed into your hand and the rest on bottom in random order.

-2: Swords to Plowshares

-9: Put 5 +1/+1 counters on each creature you control and 5 loyalty counters in each Planeswalker you control

Repeatable exile is pretty nice and "draw gas"' on a plus 2 is actually really good. Like so good that you probably just win if nobody answers it in one turn.

This card seems quite good, really.

I think upon reviewing it, I agree with this. It's kind of odd that he's 6 mana, but he's going to be incredibly hard to outvalue if he lives for more than a turn.

Ajani seems decent enough. Continuing the trend of potential standard bombs that take over the game I see. I want it for my Atraxa deck.

Not Wario
Seems better than Sorin. Doesn't stabilize as well as other 6+ mana pws outside of Sorin though. (Elspeth, Chandra, Ugin)

The more important question is: Will Nicol Bolas 2.0 be better or worse?

Meh, who cares. ;-)

He's easily the worst of the 'Big 3' enemies. Every time he shows up it's like some bad Saturday mornings cartoon villain, with stupidly complicated plans that don't make sense. Let's compleat him!

I'm still holding out hope we will all be blown away when they pull the ripcord on his plans. Something grand and jaw-dropping.

But deep down I know we won't.

I don't know about you but Umezawa's desire to defeat Bolas is infinitely more interesting than Emrakul hiding behind a moon and mindfucking Jace telling him he's not really a bad guy. If I want a return of Kamigawa, I want it to be Bolas trying to get back at Umezawa and his kin.

Dredge is so getting the axe. If doesn't, then Wizards has done messed up. I still thinking hitting all dredgers above 4 is the right call, because Troll/Imp give the deck two much power right now.

I'm assuming this is a typo and you mean Spirits?
You only need a troll ban. Slow the deck down and put them on thug which won't let them get free wins through cages like troll does.

Ah they told us there was going to be an MtG reveal on our ComicCon today, I didn't think it would be Ajani! So boring but pretty cool, Ajani's great.

Also my husband's Jace costume:
Nice! As a side note why does every girl dress as Chandra with Jace when Liliana is his love interest? Just curious.

Oh, the Chandra was there in the Hasbro booth and we happened to meet her there. The people in the booth actually made him take pictures with a Liliana Funko Pop doll. :D

Temur (RUG) Energy is really fun. I love these damned colors.

I want Black to get good Energy use in AR, though. Sultai Energy would be really fun, and Black has a ton of mechanics you could tie in with Energy.
