So I know this won't please everyone (I don't think anything will) but this is how the extra blue variants will be sold. Bear in mind that most people wanting it are completionists that want every variant and cover.

- 70% will be sold in a bundle with all three sealed cover variants. Again, most of the people who want the variant want all three covers, so this is the cleanest and easiest way to give them that wish.
- 25% will be added to the pool of standard copies and inserted into orders of those - meaning any orders of a standard copy could end up being the blue variant. If you get the blue cover and don't want it, we'll gladly accept the return and swap it for the regular cover.
- 5% will be sold in charity auctions on eBay.

The charity auction ones will likely sell for "market value" whatever that is, but your money will be going to charity, not a reseller.

If you miss out, see below.

Yes, that's highly likely. IIRC, I had to order 1,500 or 2,500 covers to hit their minimum so they've got a surplus on hand that will come back to us in a few months.

Hopefully this means that nearly everyone should have no reason to be upset at this point.

Nice. Hope to get the triple bundle.

This works for me, was worried the best chance to grab it would have been to make multiple orders for the different covers which would have meant higher shipping costs. Now I just have to hope work is kind to me on Friday and I don't get distracted - hopefully they're still being split in case I can't attempt to get the earlier one.

I kind of dislike USPS tracking sometimes. "Tracking label created on 11/30"...yay I think! It's now the 6 and the tracking description hasn't changed lol

Stealth Inc btw

I think this is a pretty good and thoughtful plan. For people like me that got it at PSX, we had the advantage of being able to guarantee a blue cover variant, but no way to get the bonus cards and map without buying a regular copy (2 if we wanted both covers of the regular release), that essentially is the three game package. People who buy now, and don't want the three game package, have that chance of getting the blue cover but still with the bonus items.

No plan can possibly be perfect and appease everyone, but I definitely think you've done the best you can given the circumstances. I think it's as fair as you can get to let everyone have a legitimate chance.

So for some reason my post office hates LRG.

the second time in a row a package from LRG has been described as "Undeliverable" seems like from now on Im going to have to just call my post office every other day to make sure they do their damn job.

As good a solution as it comes.

Thanks!

Is there any justification towards Microsoft having a minimum disc print? Just wondering, because I find it really annoying. Wouldn't there be more of a gain by printing X (X being under 10k, or maybe 15k) copies VS 50K which probably wouldn't even fully sell?

Ya this continues to baffle me...especially since their ID@Xbox efforts have been good so far. It's a shame.

I really wonder what their minimum order is since I've seen more obscure games get releases like Worms WMD, Prison Architect, Monster Jam, Carmageddon etc. I doubt those games would warrant a 50k print run but they seem to exist so...?

What I wouldn't do for physical copies of some games like Castle Crashers and Cuphead. Also, it even ends up screwing over their own games. It took forever for Ori to get a physical release, and great games like Kalimba couldn't even get releases. :(

I know the return is probably low, but if Ms (or even Sony for that matter) set up an in-house operation like Doug and Josh have to partner with devs to bring limited physical copies out it would be amazing fan and dev service. Again I suspect they don't because their is no profit there, but the intangible aspect of having a service like that would be immense.

I kind of doubt that there's a 50k minimum print run. At least here in Asia so many obscure Xbox titles got released and the installation base is relatively small compared to PlayStation. It might differ from region to region though...

Ya I think I read somewhere that Japan has a lot less of a minimum because of that reason. Just wondering why the west has a much higher one. I don't *think* it's 50k, but that is what Xbox 360 was. I'm thinking it might be more around 20-25k which would still be a bit outside of LRGs desire

It might just be a question of negotiation and getting through to the right people. Let's say they have a ~20k minimum run, but at the same time the average publisher only releases 4-5 games/year. Considering LRG's consistent output, it should definitely make up for the smaller print runs.

Although I have to admit that I probably wouldn't buy many Xbox One games apart from a few exclusives. :-D

Ya true haha :p. I would think it would be good for LRG and the devs though to be able to increase print runs on multiplat games. For example Stealth Inc could have offered maybe 3k XB1 copies alongside the PS4 and Vita versions. Would probably be a logistics nightmare syncing up MS and Sony printing though haha.

As for XB1 games the ones on the top of My head that I would love to see if this were ever to come to fruition (without knowing if some of these find other publishing means)
-Below
-Cuphead
-Castle Crashers Remastered
-D4
-Kalimba
-Pit People
-Elite Dangerous
-Voodoo Vince
-Solus Project
-Superhot

It really is a shame that MS has those issues; I'd prefer playing my games on XB1 and I find it a better platform for backing up any disc updates (not that LRGs has had any significant post release patches).

Let alone the fact that MS doesn't require a front-end for multi-title retail packages. A 360/XB1 disc can have multiple games on it without any, apparent, additional work from the developer to build a selection screen. Could see titles come in dual/triple packs on Xbox platforms.

Seeing a return of 360 arcade compilation discs from LRG would warm my heart.

Unfortunately, we will be pushing back the launch date of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD to December 16th instead of this Friday.

They're doing it to combine release date with Firewatch.

I was one of the people asking them to do this and it's blown up in my face. I booked an hour free in work to make sure I'd be able to pick this up, now the release is when I've got a client booked in so I'll struggle to make it.

Bummer. I'll have to try for the later one, otherwise eBay it is!

I was just about to post that I saw on the website that both games were listed for the 16th now.
Works for me. I'm off that day!

No date for Lone Survivor though.

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but what game are you talking about that will have three variant covers and a map?

Is it for the upcoming Oddworld: Strangers Wrath?

Yep, love that they're grouping releases up now but with the limited number of Strangers Wrath triple pack available I'll be making a point to order that as quickly as possible, not sure I trust it to stay in my basket if I go to checkout to allocate it and then back out to get Firewatch too!

...kinda wish they'd hold it back until Lone Survivor is ready as well...

Thank you so much LRG. I was debating getting Oddworld cause it doesn't work on my PSTV and I haven't been able to find a cheap Vita yet, but since I can put them together and save on shipping its an easy buy.

Girlfriend just got an email saying The Silver Case won't be shipping until January. She's pretty bummed because it was supposed to be a Christmas gift. She ordered a long ass time ago. Although, once I found out she ordered it, I told her don't be too shocked if you dont get it by the time said . Still though :/

As it turns out I am free on the 16th after all, yayyyyyy!

I'm not getting Firewatch so no shipping saving for me, but at least I can get Oddworld which is like my #1 most anticipated LRG release.

That delay sucks. I took tomorrow off from work to try and get Stranger's Wrath. I don't have the 16th off. I know this is such a first world problem. but what a bummer.

Batteries the CRISIS!
Yeah, I'm disappointed about having to wait another month (at least?) for The Silver Case, but I understand. I wouldn't want to wait five minutes for the launcher to start up. Hopefully LRG can fix that up.

Got my copies today. But the shipping had problem notifying me, they arrived on friday which I noticed on LMR website when I tracked the package but when it crossed the border it got a new tracking number, a number I never received and had to contact the shipping company in order to track my parcel... pretty bad standard if this is something that happens to everyone
