Who is he talking to?

Who is he talking to?

Someone Jimmy wishes was far more interested in the Switch than he appears to be.
Edit - I think this is really cool btw, of Jimmy. He's obviously hyped. I dig that about him. Not so much the fawning over Trump, but his hype for Nintendo is cool.

I just found out that miyamoto visited the apple store in manhatten last night. I was in the gym.

I missed my chance to see my idol. Im soooo angry

So, looking over the footage with a fine tooth comb, are we in agreement that the Switch, or at least the one being shown on the Fallon show, appears to have an IPS screen?

That's kind of the vibe I'm getting from it. An IPS screen with a capacitive touch layer that is super reflective of the light in the studio when they try and record off screen.

Are people really counting pixels now that they are done counting frames...?

The game is going to be fun. Isn't that enough for you people?

Jimmy's phoniness knows no bounds. He KNEW he was on camera and so had to keep pretending to be a Nintendo stan. Can't stand this guy!

You can be phony and genuinely excited. There he's explaining something he thinks is cool - he's excited about the NIntendo Switch. On the show he radiates a phony enthusiasm. Kids at Christmas maintain a more believable composure.

Hey I stretched the screenshot of the off-screen footage to fit exactly one quarter of my 4k monitor, and I can definitely count 1080 pixels vertically. 1080p Confirmed.

Back in the days people here said they couldn't play Mario kart 8 because of the 59fps bug.
Yeah, counting frames is a serious matter, it enables people to laugh at the game or its publisher or studio.

Of course the game will be fun. Yet you have to admit that the demoed game awards WiiU version was suffering from some framerate issues that could alter the fun.

Man that's all most gamers care about. Most talk about specs more than the games themselves. Most care about the politics. I'm so glad I don't give a shit about stuff like that. The game will be 30fps. It's not like I was ever worried. I'm going to enjoy the game and take it all in.

I think most gamers who are on here more than they play games only really care about pixels and frames per second, yeah.

When I get this game you'll see my posting frequency here drop pretty drastically, regardless of framerate or pixels or flops.

Some people also have the abitiliy to think and talk about more than one thing.

Yeah, it's definitely the more hardcore people like those who are here, YouTube, Gamefaqs and gaming websites. Plus, it's a lot of "my favorite system is better than yours".

Just play the games and have fun. Lots of these devs put in hard work everyday to make these games. They're only human and not alien. I understand framerate can bring games down, but come on like the example the guy gave how MK8 and its 59fps turned into some big deal is ridiculous.

ok maybe Sakurai is alien lol

They probably woudnt even have noticed hadnt digital foundry pointed it out.

Needless insults, really.

Pretty sure he/she is just stating a general maxim held here on GAF: many posters seem to talk about games rather than play them. Which on second thought contradict your snide remark.

As for me, I never want to care about artifacting, 1fps dips, poor self shadowing and whatever minutaie that i dont notice now. Seems like some the posters who do dont seem do be able to enjoy games as much as they use to. Still have zero meaning what the framepacing issue is in BB and ive played that game 5 times.

Some people seem to be downplaying the importance of high resolution and good image quality.

We're touching 2017 folks. 1080p should be a standard on every current-gen console, in my opinion.

Who? In the switch handheld mode, yes. When docked, no.

And since we are always comparing Ninty to the HD-twins, if Sony and Micro can get away with it, why not Nintendo?

Inb4 "xb1 and ps4 were 2013". Your post stated current gen console.

Nintendo really needs to get it majorly right with the Switch. It is the only way their stigma (and truths) are going to begin to erode away.

As more and more devs implement dynamic resolution scaling you're gonna start seeing more and more lower resolutions. I would use the term "blurry?" To describe most AAA games this past year. I don't care if your game maxes at 1080p, it really messes with my eyes and enjoyment when it's constantly blurring to keep framerate up. I'd rather a game just gets locked at 900p if that's the case.

Too bad it's not the standard on PS4, X1 and Wii U. I'm sure all those people enjoy their games.

Am I just not getting the joke? Is this a song reference?

I'm just saying that it's now possible to play Just Dance on a plane since Switch is portable and the joycons are rumored to have motion controls.

The other one you quoted mentions a song title. Probably included on the next Just Dance (I'm not sure).

Yeah 1080p docked and 720p undocked is fine by me. And as for comparing the Switch to PS4 and Xbox One, I don't see a point since we only have rumoured specs to work with.

1080p is a standard on the PS4, majority of games run at that resolution. And Xbox One has a large selection of 1080p games as well.

Nintendo needs to make sure their first party line-up hits 1080p, in my opinion.

It depends on what you're playing. I think dynamic resolution is a great feature for first person shooters. But third person action adventure or open world RPGs etc should have a locked resolution.

It is on PS4 and to some degree on the Xbox One as well. Wii U was never a consideration due to Its relatively weak hardware.

We're gonna have to agree to disagree on dynamic resolution. When I look at a gameworld I want its image and quality to stay consistent. I already wear glasses for perfect clarity, it's highly annoying to play a first person game where the world will temporarily blur or drop texture resolution to keep framerate up. It doesn't really help on eye strain. Just cap resolution if you want to keep a consistent framerate. Sometimes a game makes me feel like I need to keep rubbing my eyes because changes so much.

Last gen it was sacrifice framerate for effects in screen; now it's drop the resolution beneath acceptable levels randomly and then bring it back up? I find that worse than frame drops.

Yeah I was referring to the second quote. I just put your quote there for context as that was what they were replying to.

If it's a song title, that makes sense.

Yeah, better use stable framerate and resolution than that annoying shit that's so prevalent in this gen.

PSOne are quite bad consoles, compared to what kind of graphical fidelity devs try to use with them. If I was in charge of those AAA studios, I'd focus on gameplay first, graphics second. But sex sells, be it shiny particles or scantily dressed human (in some cases, animal).

EDIT. Not console's fault that devs try to chew more they can swallow. And not dev's fault that higher-ups don't care anything else but money. And not their fault that gamer's still buy games that barely work...

Well with what's happening this year with AAA game sales devs are gonna have to go back to the drawing board and think of new gameplay mechanics because graphics and visuals aren't cutting it anymore.

Keep in mind that this device is meant to be taken on the go with intensive graphics that may or may not be within swinging distance of the competition. Having a 1080p screen would be a battery-killer, & there's no way you'd get PS4-level performance out of such a device.
