Nintendo Switch running Breath of The Wild on Jimmy Fallon

Not a fan of Fallon, but this was a great way to show off how easy it is to pick up and continue playing on the Switch.

This will be the first Nintendo console for me since the GC/SP. Can't wait!

I've already decided to get the Switch day one since the first infos anyway, but damn I really don't care about 3D Zelda games and the art direction in this one just turns my brain off everytime I see it. Previewing this game on a show like that means that it will be available at launch?

we'll know next month. i hope it's avail on launch. i need this game.

We've had motion controls at Wii motion + levels rumored for a few months now... is there something more than that coming?

With the incorporation of motion control and handheld/console hybrid, Switch is like the ultimate form of Wii + Wii U. Genius ideas. I want to know what features are still being hid from us.

Pretty sure that screen is IPS. I mean just look at the angles Fallon is holding it and each time the color and brightness is uniform only until there's light reflecting off the screen when he moved. If it was TN at those angles it would have been washed out or half the screen be darker.

I'm pretty sure a couple rumors point at the Switch having Wii like motion controls. Likely on top of the 3DS/Wii U's gyro controls.
Would to have a capable HD system that support Wii Motion+ like controllers from the start.

I didn't know I could somehow want this MORE! Holy smokes that looks amazing, the minute they have it on the big screen and everything looks so smooth.

One thing that struck me was how underwhelming Zelda looks on the Switch. Framerate drops aside, it looked absolutely identical to the WiiU version, or even maybe a bit worse based on the low-detail terrain and lack of grass. For a machine that's been said to be almost as powerful as a PS4, this game certainly isn't showing anything of the sort...

So just how powerful is it? So far all the footage we've seen places it just barely above the WiiU, which is disappointing...

This was literally the first time we have seen anything actually on the Switch. So not sure where all the comparisons are coming from.

If you think they're going to improve the graphics on the NS, then you'll be disappointed. This is a Wii U game running on the NS and they want the experience to be basically the same on both.

I don't think a game that started development on Wii U is the best measure of the system's power

If you look close you can see the grass is still there, just doesnt look great at all on their weird ass giant screen + filmed off their giant weird ass screen

Edit: Even look at the close ups of super mario run and compare it to the other footage we've seen, it looks blurry and gross.

Im betting it will look exactly the same. Maybe the framerate would be better and/or locked.

Lmao 😂. Who expected Zelda to look amazing and so much better than the Wii U version?

Wonder why Reggie didn't use the controller that was sitting right in front of the unit? he ends up grabbing a different controller from under the counter.
Probably because Switch was synced to the joycons that were attached to it instead if the ones sitting on display.

For all we know, could be Wii u version on switch just for display purposes. That could be an old build. We will get a better glimpse on Jan 12

That was brilliant. I didn't realize how thin it is.

You deduced all of that from a Wii U port? Why don't we just wait and see?

Also I'm not sure I've ever heard "almost as powerful as a PS4"

The game already looks good on the Wii U. Even if it looks just about the same on the Switch, I don't see any problem with it.

The on-screen button prompts are the Joy-Con buttons, even when Reggie was using the Pro controller.

Still, we have no idea what resolution it's running at on the TV, and to suggest the NS version will run worse than the Wii U is being ridiculous. All we know is that the framerate is stable even in portable mode at native 720p.

Let's wait til January.

Always make sure that your gun isn't loaded when attempting to jump it, as you may miss.

It doesn't matter how powerful it is. If the developer just ports the game and doesn't make new textures or add more effects, then it will look the same.

The switch has never been touted as being almost as powerful as PS4 though.

Its been touted as being a significant upgrade from Wii U, which it is.

How Zelda runs right now is not an indicator of the system's power anyway, as it has months and months until launch time.

Almost forgot zelda won't be out at launch. Summer does seem more likely now.

I feel bad for Wii u owners waiting for Wii u version. /:

Wow, watching the video on my laptop instead of my phone, I didn't realize how thin the Switch is.

It looked a bit bigger on the Reveal trailer

Almost as powerful as a PS4? You can forget that right now. It's not going to be as powerful as an Xbox One either. Slightly more powerful than a Wii U is more likely.

Honestly, that would be enough for me. Being able to take games on the go with Wii U fidelity would be amazing

BoTW was touted at the best game at e3 and voted most anticipated at the game awards despite only the 720p <30fps Wii U version being playable.
A version that looks better and runs smoother that is also portable is great.
Also BoTW looks pretty good at times. Maybe not that area, but grassy fields and forests look pretty nice.
Really liked this Wii U footage from awhile back https://youtu.be/vEj57Jd6d3A

A Pascal Tegra would very likely be closer to the Xbox One than the Wii U in power.

People seem to:

1) Underestimate how far mobile hardware has come.

2) Underestimate how dated Wii U hardware is.

3) Overestimate how powerful the current gen of consoles is (PS4 Pro and Scorpio excluded).

This is the first footage of any game actually running on the hardware and it was all off screen of a cross gen port. Take a second and think about that before you start worrying about the specs of the machine.

Also, no even slightly credible rumor has ever put the NX/switch at ps4 brute power level since the hybrid was basically confirmed.

Doesn't mean anything. Nintendo is known to demo 3DS units with hand selected IPS screens.

First hard to tell from off-screen vids and regardless the framerate clearly sets it abive the wiiu version.

Second- It's a port of a wiiu game that isn't coming out for another 4-5 months and nintendo tends to polish till the end of development.

Third- we don't know that Nintendo would waste time remaking assets and overhauling the graphics engine for a game they want out within a reasonable time frame from after launch. The game was developed for wii u and was a huge undertaking it would likely be alot of work to signifigantly overhaul it.

Lastly numerous devs have suggested and all rumours have pointed to, and Nvdia has emphatically attested that ports from current gen are pretty simple and very doable, eg Dark souls 3, Skyrim remastered, DQ11 etc... let's see what they have at the January event aight? You wouldn't judge the PS3s power based on God of war collection would you?

Holy shit lol

Why does his tag say Shigeru Miyamoto?
Nice find lol, this whole situation is just weird as fuck. As someone who usually can't stand Fallon due to his fakeness and people pleasing attitude, seeing him having a genuine fanboy freakout was pretty cool.

You can literally see his lips saying "And you can remove the controllers..." lol

Lol, I was wandering if I was the only one to notice. He continues... "and it has a kick-stand..."

Edit: but oh wait, he was faking it on the show, many said, so none of this obvious show of excitement actually counts.
