Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
Is it not possible that Jesus helped him out? That's what I was thinking.

After telling someone on here the other day it couldnt possibly be Jesus.....the show sure made it seem like it was him...lol.

I don't think so

- He would have needed to know Daryl's exact location and status
- Then he would have to find the right key for the door
- Then he would have to sneak past security to get to where Daryl is

I think all Jesus really did was scouting and trying to learn as much as possible about that place in the short amount of time he spent there

It has to be someone who despises Negan, knows Daryl and is an insider who knows where they keep prisoners and cell keys. I think Dwight doesn't have the courage to pull something like that, especially since he already is in a shitty situation, so only person that comes to mind is his girlfriend

Good points, bit stupid they didn't reveal who helped him. Maybe it'll be revisited next half season. No doubt Negan will wan't to find out how he escaped.

Don't forget tho that Dwight had asked Rosita and Spencer to get Daryl's bike, back in episode 4 while he was at Alexandria. I think he was planning on helping Daryl escape since at least that episode. If it wasn't him then it definitely had to be Sherry or maybe even both. No way Jesus knew where Daryl was being held.

If he slid him the note, why wouldn't he just open the door. Dwight or the wife I bet.

Probably his wife, I was just thinking maybe Jesus didn't wanna make it look super obvious (around the jail area) with both of them escaping together. It also explains why he just happened to be with Daryl outside when he was about to jump on a motorcycle and leave.

True, good points, but we also know from the comic that Jesus is a sneaky and witty son of a gun. Though the probability seems low that he could just waltz in and find the right key undetected.

But would we really put it past the show at this point?

I think Jesus's main objective was scouting/ securing a radio with the savior's frequency.

I assumed it was Dwight's wife. They already have history, she hates the place... And wasn't it her that advised him to take his lumps and wait it out?

Also, very interested in the fallout of Daryl's escape plus dead fat Joey. Neegan will be pissed.

Curious about who the mystery boot man is, don't remember him from the comics.

Daryl and Ricks reunion made me instantly emotional. Great moment. Glad to see the fire burning in Rick again.

I got no real problems with the season.

You make some good points. Sherry being pissed off that he doesn't do anything about the situation might have kickstarted this, but then again I'm not entirely sure how far Dwight is ready to go to cause a change. He strikes me as someone broken and intimidated by Negan (which might serve as additional fuel to do something like that).

I think you might have convinced me that this must have been Dwight instead of Sherry lol

I don't read the comic so I don't know how Jesus is being portrayed there, but Negan mentioned that all of the shit happened during one day and I just don't buy that Jesus is capable of locating Daryl's exact position, getting the key and then setup a mysterious gift to him instead of just opening Daryl's cell himself and escaping with him in that short amount of time. Add the fact that he isn't familiar with Negan's HQ and that there are dozens of guards walking around and it just doesn't make sense that it was Jesus who helped him

Midseason finale was great. Really enjoyed the parts they changed up from the comics like Olivia dying and Eugene being taken hostage. Will be really interesting to see how Rick and the gang get him back and put him to work making bullets. But now we've pretty much made it through the "What Comes After" volume from the comics and it's now on to "March To War".

Pretty confident this season will end with the
second lineup
which means the season 8 premiere is going to be lit.

I really don't get Eugene being captured. I thought the whole point of his character was to become useful for making bullets/proving that he's capable of contributing something valuable that's not outright bravery or leadership?

I don't buy it either. But I wouldn't put it past the show to draw it up like that.

These characters are so dumb. How do you miss a point blank shot to someone's head?

That was enjoyable still.

Do we ever learn where Paul Monroe gets his skills from?

It was mentioned in the Letter Hacks for the comics that
his father taught him
, but it hasn't been brought up in the actual comics themselves. Kirkman said we'd learn more about Jesus soon, but that was awhile back!

I thought the cap was a different look for Maggie last night. Then I read it was Glenn's hat and it all made sense. RIP Glenn. Stay dead this time.

Scary visiting a spoiler thread BUT now that we are at the mid point the wife and I will start binging this in a few days. The last episode we saw was the second episode so we have plenty of catching up to do.

Seemed to me like the build up to getting their balls back was a bit quick, and really cheesy (all smiles and hugs bruh's and bruh'dettes, were back !), felt like a BioWare game team reunion.

Glad that Spencer guy is gone, although it was obvious he was on his way out, very tropey.

Hoping they can do a proper war next season as its obviously going to go down (allies vs the saviours), always enjoy the big shootouts on this !

This is one of those shows I desperately want to give up on. At the same time I've wasted so many hours over 7 years watching this.. I feel like I have to keep going (or at least until Rick dies).

Great mid season break episode. Loads of shit has went down this series and seeds have been planted in the narrative that haven't even started to unfold yet.

Questions though, do we have any idea who that was that followed Rick back to Alexandria and what was the point of that guy having a breakdown in that wagon after talking to Carol and Morgan?

Quick question; How many people are actually supposed to be at the Hilltop? I don't mean core characters, I mean population total (roughly). This whole build up to 3 factions teaming up to take on the Saviours sorta falls flat when pretty much every scene of the Hilltop is practically devoid of life. I know we've seen the odd random person but it feels like they've never actually established that the Hilltop specifically has a sizeable force like the other 2 locations which alone just can't stand up to Negan, or did I forget when that happened. The other two places at least have some semblance of life about them. Maybe it doesn't in the comics or is it just a(nother) thing the show has portrayed badly?

From the TV show it looks like they couldn't field one basketball team.

The number one thing I preferred in the comics over the show when it comes to the saviors is
COMIC SPOILERS
How in the comics Rick was planning to fuck Negan up from day 1, where as in the show it seems like he only just came around to the idea of fighting :/

I know it's not likely to happen, but I'm still hoping Carl latches onto Negan. To me, it feels like that's starting to get hinted at, but I haven't read the comics or anything.

Well to be fair:
Negan never took someone hostage in the comic.

Can someone in the know give me as small of a spoiler as possible, and let me know if Negan sticks around and builds any kind of friendship with Carl?

kind of, although comic carl is way less of a pussy than tv carl so I think he respects neagan more.
