Street Fighter V: Season 2 changes

Hmm, 4 frames and the proposed new changes/priorities they've laid out sound really good for season 2. The only downside to all this is the extreme amounts of complaining I've been seeing from Ken mains about the DP nerf.

I hate it how people react to nerfs. "No longer tournament viable" "useless" etc etc.

Wait for the changes to happen..and then wait for PROFESSIONAL players to actually adapt to those changes.

So what if Ken is negative after Ex Tatsu...it's still an excellent move to throw out and punish heavy normals/fireballs.

If something is negative, you can only get better at using it.

"Oh Mika lost her mid-screen wall bullshit..she's a goner."

Bullshit. Mika would be a goner if she lost her post-throw setups. She can still carry your ass to the corner with Ex Peach and it's GGs.

She's got one of the best V-triggers with actual unblockables man...and crazy 50/50s.
Throw oki changes definitely affect her post throw setups though. She never had an unblockable. I think she'll still be good but I don't think much of your knowledge is correct

I just want to say as a Sim player in low 15k Diamond I think the Sim buffs in theory seem OD. Sim was a bottom 3 character, but they are giving him so much stuff I find it hard to believe he won't be incredibly strong. Especially given 1.) grey life changes, and 2.) the nerfs characters like Ken and Mika seem to be getting, two of his worst matchups. If Sim can AA Ken reliably without living in constant fear of his life that is going to be a huge difference and his mk air tatsu is getting nerfed while two of Sim's AAs are getting better. Bison will be very hard, I think that match is hard as it stand and he is only getting better, but Sim is getting somethings that might help in that match.

I wouldn't be surprised if FChamp start rising to the tops of tournaments on the regular. When Sim was good in Super he was putting on strings that totally dominated the US scene, and I would argue that even in Super Sim was not top 5.

Guys, seems that the last silhouette of the season 2 characters is Garuda. Check out here this comparision I did:

EX characters opens to door to some interesting roster opportunities.
Ono: The game has a long-term strategy, we’re going to be bringing content to it for years to come. I’d say never say never, who knows, 2019 or 2020 may be the year of Skullomania.

Every year is the year of Skullomania for me.
It was staring us in the face

DLC characters are brand new

According to the slide.... but according to the translator at the event they're only "new to the Street Fighter Universe".... or if you listen to the original Japanese statement by the director he only said "5 new characters"

because.... Capcom....

Looking forward to when they're done making this game so I can buy it and play it.

SF4 was released in 2009, but they didn't "finish making that" until 2015.

MKX came out early 2015...but they didn't "finish making that" until a couple months ago (and rumors are that they still aren't "finished making" that, so get ready to buy a Kombat Pack 3 when they do).

GGXrd came out in 2014, but they didn't "finish making that" until Revelator came out this summer...and, I don't think they're finished making that.

BlazeBlue came out in 2008...and they're still making that.

Out of all these games, SF5 has the potential to cost you the absolute least in order to stay current...yet, SF5 if the one to receive comments such as your own. Ironic.

It's a wonder if you buy fighting games at all because these games are typically only "done" when their sequels come out. I guess tekken and kof, but neither of those are done yet either.

Forgive me if this has been answered before in this thread, but in what way has lightning legs have been nerf'ed?

It looks like air legs is now minus on block, which is great. Also (I don't know how accurate this is) but mashing c.LK results in LK legs, so no dumb poking shenanigans.

5 brand new characters for the entire year makes no sense any way you spin it.

5 known characters from other series would be a great way to promote/sell the game.

Now you're just interpreting that announcement so it can allow characters you want. I think if we're going to interpret "5 characters brand new to the SF universe" as literally as possible that means:

1) they are completely new and have never been seen or referenced in a game with Street Fighter in the title which includes non-playable characters in the overall SF lore.

2) characters that exist already but not in Street Fighter games. So characters from KoF, Guilty Gear, Resident Evil, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, or Katamari Damacy are possible. Also, this may exclude Tekken characters as they were in a game with "Street Fighter" in the title.

3) The SF universe includes games like Final Fight and Rival Schools so these characters could be excluded, too.

Now, my personal opinion is that the statement they gave is pretty vague. It could range anywhere from "new to SFV" or "new characters that did not exist prior to Season 2 anywhere."

What kind of character is Garuda in the EX games? Grappler, rushdown, or zoner? I really dig his look, would instantly pick him up if he were to be released in season 2.

Rushdown mostly... he's the final boss. His attacks involve shooting spikes out of his body and lots of spinning.

They counted Poison as a "brand new character" before.

I think it's very likely that these characters appeared before in endings, spinoffs or versus games even they are "brand new" as playable characters in mainline Street Fighter games.

When's Peter gonna drop the full list of changes? Isn't the patch coming with Akuma?

The patch is coming out on 20th which will have Akuma and the balance changes as well as some other stuff.

All we know is that a detailed changelog is coming, just don't know when.

I guess he's a rushdown type character with really solid anti-airs. He has really good normals, too. Off the top of my head:
- HK looks like Ryu's SF2/SFA HK. A fast-ish high hitting heavy.
- f+HP is an incredibly strong command normal that has him step forward twice. The first hit is with his head, it eats projectiles, the second hit is with a punch and it causes knockdown.
- f+HK is a psudo-jump attack. He basically leaps forward and does 3 little kicks. It goes over lows.
- rdp+p is this sort of jumping dive kind of similar to Bison's headstomp. Button pressed determines distance traveled and it causes knockdown.
- dp+k is a really strange anti-air. He makes these big spikes come out of his shoulders. It's fast to come out, but acts more like a jumping deterrent than an actual anti-air because of the angle. Also knocks down when hitting standing opponents.
- dp+p is another strange anti-air where he tucks into a ball and spins up into the air with a ton of spikes all around. It hits like 14 times in the EX games, but he hangs out up in the air forever, so if you miss, you'll take damage.
- hcb+k is another strange move. He dives forward with spikes coming out of his head and it knocks down. I distinctly remember comboing his super off of this move because it lifted the opponent up after hitting.
- qcf+p has a gigantic spike coming out of his chest and knocks the opponent down.

Oh, and he has a teleport...

The biggest change I would like them to implement is fixing the pc netcode. Fuck man I just bought it on pc a couple days ago and it's teleport fighter v.

Are you hardwired? While it's not GGPO it's totally playable.

I get shitty matches every now and then but the rest are hardly discernible to me.

air legs are minus on block, on hit you can't combo in to the cr lp bnb since cr lp is now 4f.

currently ll can be piano or qcf inputs. this discourages mashing. I can confirm those for sure since I tested them at psx, but again things might change on actual release

The easiest interpretation for me is "characters that haven't been playable before in a Street Fighter game"
They counted Poison as a "brand new character" before.

But she was brand new, she had never been playable in SF before SFxT and even considering Final Fight Revenge she had a fully new moveset, only getting a couple moves from that game in Ultra.

Arika characters were obviously playable in SFEX so I don't see how they'd count without massively reading too much into the quote.

The way I interpreted "new characters" thing - and this is based on how Capcom have handled this before - is that by "new" they mean playable for the first time in the SF series. So it could be a crossover character, and unplayable boss, or a character only seen in story mode / stage backgrounds / lore etc.

As for patch notes, again based on their record, I wouldn't be surprised if they drop the list the day before the patch itself, on the 19th (Monday).

Forgot to ask last time, did you notice any changes to her bHK?

I feel like this isn't the first time you've made this exact comment, and it wasn't interesting or compelling the first time, and it certainly isn't now.

Also, fighting games adding characters and making balance changes post release is a thing that happens with every fighting game now. Guess you're done with the genre.

hopefully on the 20th itself so we have something to read while they take down the servers for the whole day
