If anyone's finding the game too easy, you can pray to the statue in the starting room to turn on the "hard mode" starting with a pretty high level curse.

Can I disable a passive? Just picked up flip clarity and I have no particular interest on having that happen when I flip a table!

You have to drop it. Select it in the map and press the drop button on the side.
Thanks. I assume that's also how you give items to the slime guy?

Only just started and I'm enjoying it. Kind of like the hunter for her crossbow, but it looks like the chance of my companion finding an item is pretty small.

Played for the first time in about a month. Made it to the fifth floor on the first run, but still didn't beat the Dragun.

I made the mistake of exploring the trap door on the first floor (haven't beaten the second floor yet) - after the initial panic I actually did OK down there (stupidly attempted to navigate the traps that were down there) and I feel like it improved my game quite significantly. I'm trying to stick to the default weapon at the moment, and focus on improving my movement/cover (I don't use tables enough).

Are there further character unlocks at some point? I favour the hunter at the moment because of starting with the crossbow, although the cheap prices that the pilot offers are useful.

Is there a point to the picture that the convict has?

Also, dropping items for the slime results only in cash paid or are there other benefits? Yes/no will be fine, just need to know if it's worth dropping items I'm not 100% sure about if I don't need the cash.

There are hidden characters - http://www.gungeoneers.com/news/33767-unlocking-enter-the-gungeons-two-secret-characters

The Convict's picture is a passive item that gives you double damage for a short time after getting hit yourself.

Pretty sure the slime is only for cash.

Yes, thanks for the reminder about the convict picture - it's on the description but clearly I forgot! Trying to steer clear of "when you get hit" type stuff for obvious reasons! Trying to avoid the wiki if I can, but I'll try to stop asking daft questions.

Made it to the third floor (still with the hunter and using only her main weapon).

I've unlocked the shop in the breach and tonight I found the shortcut... person. Also rescued a dude who looks like a zombie and kicked his something (helmet?) into the depths below.

Really enjoying this, although I'm not sure I'll have the skill to platinum it. We'll see.

Everyone should check out the 1.010 beta, it adds lots of variety to the map layout and fixes a bunch of bugs.

Also, flame hand fix.

I can't find a way to swap between active items (PS4). When I bring up the map, the select item buttons (left/right on the d-pad) only allow me to select my passives. Anyone?

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Just started playing this again after doing several dozen run throughs prior. Trying to get the last few pieces of the bullet for the gun that can kill the past but its a bitch. Is there a reliable way to get across the chasm rooms to get the couple of pieces? Feels like it requires a few special items that I don't see very often.

You don't really need any special items for them, except maybe the third one.

You get the first one
with a lot of money
The second one is
behind a jumping puzzle, just slow down your minecart and carefully jump with the right timing.
For the third one
you might want to find a weapon that leaves liquids, as it charts the invisible path for you across the chasm. But it can also be done with bullet casings from pretty much any gun, if you're patient.
The last one you get
automatically when you destroy the Dragun's (floor 5 boss) body.

Can be done over multiple runs and once you get an item to
the forge on the last floor
, you don't have to get it again. :)

Oh wow, I seriously had no clue about two of those and now feel really dumb as I usually get to those rooms and just turn around if there are no other exits but the one I came through.

Just do a few runs for fun and drop the bullet pieces off when you happen to stumble on wax wings or the jetpack.

Or do it the fun way Haunted posted.

Good to know I haven't played much in the past few months. I've had the game since launch and only got to the 4th floor once lol.

Haha, sorry if I spoiled anything for you, you mentioned "the last few pieces" so I thought you were already generally aware of them. :D

Free update coming this fall apparently.

I had no idea you could drop off the pieces of the bullet separately. I thought you had to get all 4 to the forge in the same run. Wow.

Sounds great. This is one of my games of the year. Can't wait to play more. Glad to see the story getting expanded as well.

Played today for the first time since my post above. I still can't get over this disparity between regular enemies and bosses. Add to that the RNG of keys, health, and especially ammo, dropping, I feel like I'm in a constant uphill battle with this game. And it's not much fun as a result.

Glad to hear content updates are coming! A friend Steam-shared this with me over the summer, and I fell in love with it. Bought it today the moment I saw it on sale, and I'm not regretting it so far. Pretty sure this is going to be my go-to time killer during the semester.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
Man I'm so bad at this game. Reminds me of my early days playing Isaac. :lol

I know I'll get better eventually though, same as with Isaac.

There's no in-game way to customise controls in this on PS4, is there? They don't feel right and I can see that I can choose between Recommended 1 and Recommended 2 but neither of them are the way I want the controls to be mapped. Did I miss an option or is that it?

I could change them at Firmware level on PS4 but that'll be a pain in the arse switching between games.

This is such a fantastic game. 42 hours in with only one past killed (not for the lack of trying), and plenty of stuff I haven't seen.

I'm sort of torn between looking at the secrets and how to unlock them, and hopefully discovering them as I play through the game normally, as I'm usually loathe for spoilers.

One example: I read that you shouldn't
kill the red cape bullets
so I've started doing that, but happy to keep the goal/endgame of that in the dark for now

Can't wait for the supply drop update, and I'm in for any paid expansion on day one.

I still have yet to properly beat this game.
I've beaten it with all four characters, but man.. I've only reached
Bullet Hell
twice; once with a friend, once solo. I didn't get very far on either of those tries.

I knew I would get this game sooner or later (pixel art + roguelite is a combination I can rarely skip), and its Black Friday Steam price made that purchase unavoidable. Loving it every bit as much as I expected.

Funny story time: I saw that a free update with lots more stuff had been announced earlier this year. I think to myself "oh, so that's why there is so much stuff in the game". I also saw the update added save-and-quit support, so I try to figure out how that works. No option in the menu, hmmm, let's see if I just quit and come back... nope, it doesn't save my progress. Then I google a bit more and realize the update hasn't been released yet. All the guns, enemies and items in the game are from the vanilla version! Needless to say, can't wait for the update to drop.

This level of support reminds me a lot of Shovel Knight, which is getting full campaigns years after release. Both of them have ensured that I will buy any additional content or sequel they eventually ask money for.

Special points for the thematic gun puns, both verbal and visual. This one aspect reminds me of another of my favorite roguelites, Crypt of the Necrodancer, where the theme was music.

Damn, thought the update was out.

If you want more info on it, it's specifically called the "Supply Drop Update".

But no, there's no release date as of yet.

Yeah I remember seeing all the info about it when they announced it. Surprised it's not out yet is all, considering it's been months. Looking forward to it though.

Grabbed a steam copy and hopped into the beta build. Starting from a fresh file so got a lot to unlock but so far it's still a blast. Muscle memory carried me to the Dragun with a ton of garbage guns.

Flame Hand seems to have gotten a modest buff and isn't completely terrible anymore, not amazing, but not terrible.

Saw a couple new enemies, a new darknut style variant, something that seemed to frenzy all the other bullets, and some kind of bullet that did a PBAOE and a charge.

New update comes in January and I still haven't finished the game at least once. I remember getting to the dragon in 5 chamber, but that's it. Any tips? What character is the easiest to get to the end?

It's much less about the characters and more about knowing which chests to open, where to look for stuff etc.

I prefer the Hunter, but it really only matters for the first 2 floors.

Picked this up for Winter Sale! Any tips for a newbie? Haven't beaten the first floor yet, get slaughtered by the bosses every time.

Be patient, most people take 40+ hours to beat the first time even though the actual run only lasts 1 hour tops.

Different colored chests drop different tiers of items, being from worst to best: Brown < Blue < Green < Black < Black < Red.

You usually don't want to open brown chests, you want to destroy them, but as you get more acquainted with the game you'll start to figure out better how to manage your keys.

You get good stuff if you flawless the bosses.

The Hunter is the best for begginers imo, because her bow one shots most enemies on the first and second floor.

Good advice, black chests are better than red ones though. Plus, there's two special secret types.

But yeah, just take it easy, learn the patterns and how to dodge. Also super protip: there might be some stuff you have to carry to the last level, you don't have to do it all at once.

I know, I'm just getting shit weapons from chests, and I completely avoid brown ones.
