Yeah, it is. It isn't widely used enough to be otherwise. And I don't see how I can be said to have moved goalposts when I haven't been part of this debate.
Saying ethernet is niche is legit trolling. This device has a dock that has usb, and a HDMI to convert the signal for your tv, not having a ethernet port make no sense what so ever for a console that can also be used on the go.
If the switch was just the hand held it would make sense but in this day and age where there are tv type consoles, and streaming boxes that are like mini entertainment hubs there's no excuse when so many companies and devices have it as a standard.

It is simply true, though? Especially the established Nintendo consumer has never had one. It is definitely not a major issue.
For reference, both Nintendo and Xbox will now have analog triggers, finally.
I don't see any 'it's 2017, SONY' threads, and there shouldn't be because sometimes details like that aren't worth even this post that I've just written!
That is not even remotley close to a good example, those features are just added things for controls, ethernet is for almost everything that has to do with delivery of content, updates, stream quality etc. It's a standard for internet delivery triggers are not a standard.
