I'm not digging the new art-style at all.

The MC looks super shonen too, which is disappointing when compared to Shulk and the cast of XBC.

With this, Mario and Zelda Confirmed for 2017, though this may be Japan only, I will definitwly be gerning a Switch before the end of the year.

I hope Mitsuda is the lead composer this time responsible for the main themes and major beats, and not just the ending song composer like the first game.

His tweet says that he's the lead composer, and that the second track in the trailer is the beginning of the main theme. He also says that the finished music will all be recorded by a live orchestra.

I want this, just to really know if he's still got it or not. It's been such a long time.

IF Xenoblade 2 WILL SURELY released in 2017...

Let's said it is out in December 2017, then it has to be going into testing phase no later than March 2017, production for physical started in September. So that gives only 2 years time for development on a new machine (Xeno X released in JP in Apr 2015).

Is it plausible that the news / rumours that Switch is easier to develop for is real?!

Yay! Getting my Xeno-RPG fix every 2 years will be fun

Well it probably re uses a lot of assets since XCX and X2 are both HD titles, it's like how in theory Atlus should be more prolific now they've got a ton of HD assets thanks to Persona 5. They can use a lot for SMT V and so on. I doubt it'll be a Xeno-RPG every 2 years but it's probably a case of not having to retool an engine, create assets and so on from scratch...so Monolith Soft can just focus on content creation.

I never got far in XCX (found the UI so bad and never really liked the Wii U Gamepad's feel) but I'm excited that MoSo will get to make a series rather than having it be cut short for whatever reason. I feel like ever since Xenogears, Takahashi has - in some form - wanted to do a 5 or 6 part super epic.

Xenoblade Chronicles X was supposed to come out in 2014, so I can't see 2017 being hit considering how it's been less than 2 years since X and all.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
Man, monolithsoft are fucking machines, this means they can get more than one game out on the switch, I cant wait.

???????

Soul Sacrifice? Stella Glow? Valkyria Revolution? He still works...

Aren't those all one-off tracks though? And not leading the sound team? I could be totally wrong. Regardless, he hasn't impressed with his orchestral stuff nearly as much.

With tons of Soraya-saga retweet showing how this project is more than just a teaser(this is the way I feel that), I guess it's possible that the game will be launch in 2017 worldwide.
Even I think there is now two team in monolithsoft: one on Xenoblade X series and the other one on Xenoblade series.
Maybe the xenoblade team has developed it during the developement on Xenoblade X.
If this game is really released this year, I guess this theory could be real because almost 1,5 years for a Jrpg ambitious like that? No way.

This game looks far less ambitious than XCX.

So you think this could be just a filler for the beginning of this system? This is not a good thing to do with a title called Xenoblade 2 .

Just because it's less ambitious, it doesn't mean that it has to be filler. This is still likely going to be an amazing game if you're a fan of the first.

I keep thinking about this game now. I can't wait to see more of it, particularly the battle system to see how close it is to the original.

I love the nod to the Monado in the hero's sword.

UK voice acting again please :D

Also calling it now, the redhead girl is the human incarnation of the monado/hero's sword. Her amour, the green glow. Calling it. Quote me in 3 years when I'm right. :p

No, unless you equate a possibly more focused game with "filler". They said that XCX was part of a learning curve for them creating a huge open world on an HD system, so I imagine they've taken lessons from that and thought about what they wanted to do next (they always said whatever came after XCX would be more Xenoblade story focused).

And Nintendo don't seem in the business of rushing games out the door so I wouldn't worry about a lack of development time. It could easily get delayed to 2018 regardless ;P

never left the stone age
I like the overall artstyle and the graphics, hate the main character's outfit, luckily armour being visible on character models is pretty much a lock-in so it'll be gone in no time.

Gimme! I went in with the Switch reveal with low expectations for titles shown and came out with like 8-9 games I want. :D

We have only seen a little of the game. So it's hard to judge.

I'm just going off of what Takahashi has said in the past (this will be a more story driven game, hinting at probably no/less online features) and comparing both debut trailers.

If it's in the same vein as the first one then sign me up. Hopefully the console will be 200€ by the time this launches.

They really should have named X something other than Xenoblade considering it was more of a spiritual sequel lol. Now we have Xenoblade, Xenoblade X, Xenoblade 2, and if we ever wanna wrap up that dam cliffhanger we might get Xenoblade X2.

What no, those are soundtracks he worked on extensively, some with collaboration. In fact, it looks like Valkyria Revolution might be the first complete 2 disc soundtrack he composed entirely by himself in quite a while. Performed by the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Soundtrack comes out next week I think.

I'm really, really worried this game will be localised by NoA and will once again use a stock standard American anime cast of voice actors. I really hope it's British again.

It's a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles. It needs to be British.

In total agreement. The departure in XCX was understandable (especially with the return of key voices as an option for your avatar) but as a continuation of the same world, it wouldn't sound like Xenoblade without a British cast.

I'm excited and am in regardless, but really not a fan of how young the characters look. Or the main character's outfit. Like I said, it would be hard to get me not to buy a Tetsuya Takahashi game though so will give it a go.

Xenoblade X shipped in April of 2015.

This game, if it comes out in 2017 at all, surely won't be early 2017.

that would be the ideal outcome for me.

I am incredibly happy my favourite JRPG since Chrono Trigger is getting a sequel, but a bit disappointed the plot set-up from X is not explored further. If I knew that would continue as well, this announcement would be even more of a dream come true.

what is less ambitious than the previous? the more anime-oriented character design? LOL
if everything, it seems prett similar in scope to XenoWii

The only game I'd buy a Switch for at the moment. I hope there's a Wii U version.

Highly doubt it. Nintendo bailed on the Wii U last year and it's a good thing they didn't can the Wii U version of Zelda to try and push more people to buy the Switch.
