Free NES/SNES Games for Nintendo Paid Service Only Playable For Free For One Month

I can't understand anything about this. Stuff like this makes it seem like the Switch is a direct competitor to the PS4/XB1. Unless the online price is significantly lower than PS+ or XB Gold, this isn't even a contest. The whole paid multiplayer business is the one aspect of the Switch reveal that seems to be received negatively pretty much everywhere.

This is such a Nintendo thing to do. I really don't understand how the people making this decision didn't get interrupted by someone saying "this is bizarre you idiots!" How can they think this is a good idea in the slightest? What's even the point of this decision? PSN offers full games for free each month and the Switch gets a nes/snes title for a singular month... wow.

The max I would be willing to pay for a service like this is $30 a year and hopefully there are sales to $20 like PSN/XBL frequently get sales...

The only games I buy on Nintendo consoles are Nintendo games, so paying a full $60 for online seems insane.

This isn't even a "free game" then. Its a free rental or loaner. You are better off with a library card and borrowing old games from them lol.

The absolute max this service should cost is $30.

What's the chance Nintendo offers a larger discount on sale items like Playstation Plus?

How do the bigwigs sit in the corporate offices and determine that this is a good practice? I get it, Nintendo does things their own way relative to Sony and MS. But FFS Nintendo, it's entirely possible to 'be different' to your detriment. Nintendo has a long way to go to convince that they're capable of overseeing a modern online ecosystem, and then to pull this crap?

You'd think games from the 1980s would be dead enough sales-wise to just let people keep, especially when they're subscribed to them.

Does Nintendo really think their stuff retains this much value?

People joke about how you don't really own PS+ Games and they're just rentals, but this is literally just rentals! Unless online is under $20 a year they've lost their goddamned minds.

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
Can't see Nintendo having the balls to charge XBL/PSN prices for this, hope its $20 max a year. But then again its Nintendo

You are paying for them to lend you the game in hopes you'll give them more money to keep the game.

Nintendo really needs to give us a price here. At $20 that seems fine. At $60 that's absolutely awful. I'm getting the feeling it's gonna be absolutely awful.

Thing is out in like a month and a half - this is information people need before they buy the damn thing.

I'm trying really hard to be positive, but I'm bracing myself for the service to cost $10.

Per month.

I love that it's just for NES and SNES games, no N64, GC, or Wii games.

It's probably going to be games that a lot of people have bought in the eShop previously.

On the plus side, when it's time for Ballon Fight, you won't really mind when they take it away.

So you pay for a service and they give you games that expire after 30 days? or you just can't claim the games anymore and add them to your collection after 30 days? I don't understand
