Fire Emblem Direct - January 18th, 4PM CST (Japan confirmed, FE Mobile unveiling)

I can't imagine there being a teaser for the next FE game since there was a 3 year development gap between Awakening and Fates (both JP and US releases). I would like to be surprised!

Fire Emblem Warriors is a given.

Fire Emblem Mobile is very likely since it's releasing by the end of March 2017.

Interesting speculation about a FE Fates port. I would probably stop playing Birthright, sell my special edition when I get a Switch and get Fates on Switch if all the content is on one cart. It would be cool if there was a way to transfer saved progress since I have progressed far into Birthright.

Well, I meant with what happened with the reveal trailer - bad title card, it looked barren as sin, even though the game that came out was one of my favorite games of that year.

Basically, I hope it's not a rough looking trailer.

It's all possible, but it's all (except for Warriors) also still up in the air. This could be a Direct of dreams that hands out dreams left and right or a simple one that only looks at the Warriors game from the presentation. Keeping hype in check is advised, though, since only NoA has announced it on its twitter, and Europe and Japan seem to ignore it. That could indicate that we are looking at a simple Direct with at most a new localisation for the NA region.

Personally this is my favorite game in the series but there is so much think that can be so much better, like the character balance, the bad hard mode or some plot points

And of course real support interactions, I want my Ike X Elincia ending man

Well, if it follows the usual schedule of confirmations from the different regions, you're going to wait a while. Japan is usually the last region to confirm a Nintendo Direct, when it's worldwide.

Also, another thing I wanted to add: when a Direct is officially announced, Nintendo usually posts a tweet with a visual for the Direct, like this one

So far, there's been nothing like that, just the tweet reporting what said at the Treehouse, which can be considered just part of the live-blogging NoA's Twitter account was doing about the Treehouse Live itself (live-blogging exclusive to NoA's Twitter account, just like the specific Switch Experience 2017 Twitter account reported in Japanese the events for the two-days hands on venue).

So, it's just that we should wait for a more official announcement, since that tweet is possibly related just to the Treehouse live-reporting, with no visual element like usual official announcements. Honestly, I'll be extremely surprised if the Direct stays NA-exclusive.

isn't mario kart 8 deluxe the same game (+dlc ) with only the arena mode and the frame pacing glitch fixed ?
No new races is a serious bummer.

As for fates , Nintendo only has to restore all those cut support conversations and i'll maybe come back to this game.

This is the best news I could get today! I loved Awakening but sold both my WiiU and 3DS before the arrival of Fates in advance for the Switch and now I'm going to play Fates complete and in HD? Both on my TV and on the go? HELL YEAH!

Hmm so no tweet from America about it. Interesting only the Treehouse announced it. Usually, Directs are announced in an hour or two from now on twitter.

Hmm, yeah, I'm getting anxious about the announcements for other regions. Of course, I can still watch the NA Direct, but it might have different stuff (like limited editions) for Europe etc.

Are we supposed to getiing hyped for the Direct? Because I really think this will be only for the mobile games (same with Animal Crossing). It's too early for a new FE and FE Warriors is also likely early in development, otherwise they would have shown more than a teaser without anything relevant. They could have shown more at the Switch event if it was something Switch-related, so I guess seperate events for the mobile games makes sense, they are a big thing now after Pokemon GO and Super Mario Run. I could see a new AC game, who knows maybe I am wrong, but don't hype yourself too much.

Honestly, FE fatigue is a real thing for me after Fates. Making two (or three) different versions was a nice gimmick, but it just ended up being too much for me in the end. Doesn't help that the gameplay in both Awakening and Fates still feels like a step down to me compared to Radiant Dawn.

Here's hoping that whatever will come next in the series mixes things up a little once again (and, no Intelligent Systems, this doesn't mean making it a full-blown waifu simulator, damn it).

They don't have the classic "no info on mobile/Switch" fine print like they usually do with these things so FE Warriors / FE Mobile seems like a done deal.

I'm not expecting a trailer, but I do get the feeling at the end of it, we may get confirmation that Intelligent Systems is working on the next mainline Fire Emblem game for Switch.

Kinda like how Iwata announced Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U all the way back in 2011.

I doubt we'll see any footage of the mobile game, actually, considering Nintendo avoided announcing/showing their mobile games in Directs so far. Doesn't seem to be the announcement channel they want to use for those titles.

Then again, Fire Emblem will likely be one of those mid-core mobile games rather than a more casual title like Miitomo and Mario Run, so they might use a different strategy there. I still don't expect much more than a short teaser, though. If at all.

I'm sure this will be mostly about FE Warriors, since I expect that game to be much further into development than the short teaser made us believe. Wouldn't surprise me at all if it's planned to release in September/October already. However, it does depend on whether or not NoE and NCL will finally announce a Direct as well, otherwise this remains to be something rather puzzling.

Edit: Well, there it is! Since it's about "upcoming Fire Emblem titles" I guess this might include the mobile game after all.

Sorry about that, was just being a little snarky as I don't care at all about mobile gaming and I so desperately want to have a true mainline Fire Emblem game to play on the Switch. Who knows, if the reviews for the mobile game are good and it turns out to be a worthy Fire Emblem game, I might just try it too!

I hope that at the end of this Direct they'll announce the next Direct focusing on something else. Like Animal Crossing, the Online System or Virtual Console perhaps. Just something to keep us talking until Switch launch.
