Ya it was amazing how positive and jubilant the atmosphere was in Pittsburgh's march. Definitely a party for women's rights.

i believe (and hope so) that it will. I feel like we're due for a huge counter culture or other mass movement akin to the labor movement of the early 1900's and the civil rights and hippie movement of the 60's.

Can confirm DC crowd were massive. The Colbert rally reached about halfway down the mall, but this one reached all the way down to the Washington Monument, with serious overflow onto the side streets and in front of the White House. Not as insane as 2009 inauguration but pretty serious nonetheless.

There was very little counter protesting aside from a Trump float that sounded like it was surrounded by motorcyclists gunning their engines lol

They're not stupid (they are but this is something else). It is just the template disingenuous people that never cared about women use for their whataboutisms.

I wasn't planning on doing the march but passed by it on 5th Ave. in NYC today. The energy was awesome, and I saw a very diverse crowd. We ended up walking a few blocks with them. First time I've seen something like this live :')

I hugely regret not going with my coworker. Yeah, driving to DC from here is quite the trek, but I would have loved to be there.

That's a common tactics. Right wing radio loves to use it. "How dare you criticize the best country in the world. You should be grateful you live here." It gets used for criticisms against police, against the GOP, etc.

My 2 sisters and I marched in Dublin Ireland, they estimated 10,000 of us turned up. Met Obama's Irish ambassador at the march who was kicked out of office yesterday, such a nice man and he gave us so much hope for the future.

I participated in one of these marches in my area today and I have to say -- I am overwhelmed with joy, passion, and togetherness. I am so proud to have participated in this.

Always found it an odd thought as I tend to see an argument about life in other countries where you can be criminalized or even murdered for being different as a reason to be empathethic to minorities and not justification to assert that they "be grateful" to be here.

The reality that he is now the 45th president of the United States and the republicans control all branches of government and will appoint 4 years worth of federal judges and 2-4 Supreme Court justices, rewrite a number of federal laws, and drastically alter the federal budget for 4 years?

Here's a time lapse of the Madison March that shows how incredible this protest was. I got to the library mall at 10 and it was wild how quickly the crowd grew as it got closer and closer to the official start time at noon. I don't know about you, but I quite liked the infrequent "Walker Still Sucks" chant, I felt like that connected it to the 2011 sit in at the capitol.

I'm kinda bummed since i couldn't make it to the "local" march. I'm at home in bed with a bad troath infection. Hope it doesn't last, i hate being sick.

Protests aren't always aimed at achieving a resolution or agreement. Often times they are geared to showing that, "We are here, We are Americans, and We do not support you."

It's meant to show that your vote was not in vain, to show that there is a nation of people who will stand by and support you.
