"Great day, Scorpio update w/ team. Played my first games on early Scorpio unit. Games played great, console looked right, proud of the team"...at least played better than Nintendo Switch....:D

MS knows what they're doing because when the PS5 comes in a couple of years they'll have maybe a comparable system in console specs with it? In a few years will any dev want to use the X1 was the common denominator for making a game or will it be the Scorpio, which MS will already have out in the market?

"Get Ready" is from Diddy Kong Racing at the start of each race...

Omg Rare is making a new Diddy Kong Racing??

no

Spencer has to laugh that just about every tweet he makes becomes a 20 page thread on here.

All according to plan, no? The only reason he makes these tweets is to keep Xbox in the headlines, because goodness knows there's not much else going on for them.

Ummm....Or he just means what he said. He got to play a game on the Scorpio for the first time and he giving props to his team. Would you rather have no insider information and zero tweets from Xbox, Niintendo, and Sony?

I would not read that into my tweet.

I do love reading this thread.

I'm sure you do. How could you not? You guys have to get a kick out of this.

I mean this with 100% sincerity – I really do. There really are some fascinating insights into our strategy that I appreciate reading. And some really good debates on topics where I learn a lot about what's important to you guys.

There is also a ton of stuff I have to wade through.

In all, it’s always super entertaining.

Man I wanted to quote all my haters with my comment on the Switch but I'm just going to let it go and watch it play out.

Good luck to MS with the Scorpio. More info soon would be great.

Scorpio was talked about in public before Pro was....
Pro is a response to Scorpio if anything
How can the Pro be a response if it was in production much earlier? Wasn't the Scorpio stuff leaked/publicized after the Pro docs got out?

This isn't console warz stuff, I just think your timeline is incorrect.

How about you humor us with a little something? ;)

Action speaks louder than words.

So far I'm very worried about Microsoft's future. Everything is available on PC so why bother?

It's absolutely stunning how people can not come to terms with the fact that there are 10s of millions of people who don't game on PC, don't want to and don't have plans to.

There's a thread dedicated to why people don't want to game on PC. Read it.

There will always be a market for console only gamers.

Is Scorpio their PS4 Pro, or a new generation? I am super confused.

I really don't understand why this feels like a big deal for some, anyway and to make it clear, I remember Phil said that he believes in a big jump in case they wanna introduce a successor to XB1 and not in an incremental minor iteration. So it's not similar to PS4 Pro but more like a new gen

If he said that, it would have been everywhere. You must be misremembering.

If Microsoft created a bootable Windows 10 skin that is basically the XB1 UI which has direct support from Windows Store, Steam, GOG, Origin, etcetera, they'd never have to create an Xbox ever again.

You'd see a huge rise of smaller PC's with console form-factors that will be indistinguishable from boxed Xbox One consoles aside from the hardware inside.
A man can dream. I heard that they were bringing their Xbox UI to PC sometime so maybe it'll happen someday. But knowing Windows they'll likely find brand new ways to botch this idea completely.

I don't know what Phil's objective with this kind of tweet is?

Certainly not to sell more Xbox One's. To discourage people from buying a PS4 / Switch / PC? To hype up an existing Xbox fan base? Or is it just trolling for retweets?

This month the conversation has been all about the Nintendo Switch so I think it's his way of saying 'the Scorpio says hello' to remind people it's coming.

New gen means no forward compatibility for Xbox One games, so that'd mean exclusive games for Scorpio and the One would be phased out. Which means if you want to play the newest Xbox games you have no other choice than buying the Scorpio.

If it's more like Pro but with a more significant jump in power, forward compatibility will still be in and nobody will have to buy Scorpio to play Xbox games. And this is the path MS officially is on.

That's all there is to it.

He knows what he's doing. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with what he's doing, but the public tweet sent out to millions of fans is not merely intended as a pat on the back to his team.

The guy's Twitter account is almost single-handedly keeping the Xbox-related news cycle alive.
