Yes this is the game I heard about a few months ago. Interesting to see it starting to pop up specifically in the rumor mill. Also I heard some pretty cool things about the PS4/bone versions.

I've never played the original, interested to see what they add for both versions.

Any chance they are reworking the mechanics?

Good to hear that will be adding some new stuff to the game, I love the game and will get it on Switch

Is this game REALLY that bad? I've always loved old film noir detective stuff and I have it in my backlog but I've never gotten around to playing it. What exactly is so horrible about it?

Its not a bad game, there are a lot of people that love the game, it also has high 86 metacritic which is good for a new IP, you will prob enjoy the game

Could you elaborate on the PS4/Xbox One versions?

Would be cool if they reworked the interrogation system to be less confusing and maybe even context-based.

Man I hated this game. Was a huge disappointment at the time. Can't imagine why they are porting it.

Probably just like the PC version, at 1080p 30fps...Not sure why would Rockstar would do this, it's not a very popular game. Nobody is asking for this. But I guess Rockstar has their numbers. I personally did enjoy it. The story is good and the tech behind the animations is incredible.

Likely a sequel is coming or in development. Take Two consider it a potential franchise with GTA and Red Dead after it sold 5+million copies.

I loved this game, but I already platinumed this and don't really feel like replaying it. If I do get it , I'd buy it cheap for the switch, since I like gaming on the go.

RDR on the Switch would be way more amazing, though.

This better not be a Wii style market "test".

I'll flip my shit if someone uses this as an excuse to not support the Switch.

Yup. Problem being that RDR is, apparently, a spaghetti-level disaster of engineering and is not easily reworked, ported, or remastered.

Hmm! Well now I wonder if I should bump it up in my backlog, or wait to see if this rumor pans out and get the remaster on Switch. If they add stuff and fix things I'd want to wait for the definitive version but I'd also have to buy it again :S

LA Noire, as a video game, is fundamentally broken right from the design document. It's an interrogation game where you have only ever have three choices, all of which are so badly named that they give you completely the wrong idea of what they mean, and none of which let you know what your character is going to say before he says it. It is routine that you'll pick one choice and have your character say something you absolutely didn't intend.

You only get one chance at every decision, too. Never mind that you're a policeman and you have a criminal suspect in custody; if you ask the wrong question once you never get to ask it again. Video games.

Moreover, it's a detective/investigation game where you are never allowed to accurately solve a case. After one or two tutorial cases, every case in the game ends with you convicting a person you know isn't the real culprit, because those are the only options the game gives you. Later you'll usually have a big dumb shootout with the real bad guy in a mediocre, scripted, 'cinematic' mission. There's no satisfaction to be had here.

I love LA Noire but why this game?

Sales would exponentially explode if you just port GTA V instead. That on the go would be bonkers.

Hate to say it but after finishing the Homicide portion I was basically done with the game. Felt like my decisions didn't matter since even if I'm right at the time, I'm eventually wrong anyway for story reasons.

It's exactly the kind of game that sounds good on paper but is completely botched in execution. The motion and face capturing tech is still impressive to me though.

Exactly. The game just fell apart when you knew you had the wrong suspect but there was no other outcome you could choose because "story" and it sucked.

Great premise, piss poor execution. Having L.A be available to free roam was also one of the dullest experiences ever.

This was the other issue I had. Other than a few chase sequences, it didn't really try and take advantage of it's open world. The city just felt like it was there to take you from scene to scene. Oddly enough I felt the same way about The Getaway, by the same crew of developers, back in the day.

Actually it makes sense.

It's the Wii all over again.

The Devs at Rockstar probably despise Nintendo hardware like they always have, and thus, since management is telling them "put something out on it to test the water, it has some buzz", they'll go with L.A. Noire. When it predictably bombs, they'll say "see? We can't sell on that crappy Nintendo hardware" and then they can go back to not supporting it.

Do you really think Rockstar devs, grown up men, could ruin a product on purpose because they "despise" Nintendo hardware? Seriously, you guys sometimes have fantasies a 12 year old fanboy could make up.

There is a term to describe that kind of mindset. Let me check my thesaurus...

It all suddenly came back to me, but I remember thinking the game was completely MEH until the final mission.

That was REALLY good, kinda made me feel I didn't waste money/time on the game. But it was a huge let down, it's obvious something went wrong during the production.

We do need more detective games though. Something open world like LA Noire, with controls similar to Until Dawn and different paths/ending... maybe something a la Virtue's Last Stand/Zero Time Dilemma.

Agreed, nice soundtrack, good voice acting, but that's all I can like in this game.

Rockstar will never release a game for Switch, let alone a "remaster" of their odd polygraph simulator.

(Hint: You don't remaster software on nearly-identical hardware).

When it comes to Switch and its rumours...I don't know what to believe anymore. But I'd bite from something from Rockstar....

If Laura Kate Dale taught me something, was to never believe in rumors going around Twitter.

I'd buy L.A. Noire on an instant on the Switch ;___;

What an underwhelming rumour... Is this even worth funding? I mean maybe Rockstar and Nintendo see something I don't, but I just don't see how this is going to amount to success for either party.

Edit: It's not Switch exclusive so nevermind. Still don't see it as a worth while remaster, though.

The more I think about it, I think it would be more awesome if they port over Manhunt 2. I have it on the Wii, but the dumb red filter really takes me out of the game. I would be happy to pay for the game again if I could play it on the NS (with the motion controls) without the red filter (or have it toned down more).

Laura was like 90% right and most of the things that "weren't correct" also haven't been incorrect either they're still TBD. The only thing she got wrong was the price in the UK and release date.

Wasn't Darksiders 2 remastered on Wii u?
Edit: maybe not

Wasn't that a port? The PS4 and Xbone just got iterations that I believe are titled "Remastered," but I just did a cursory search.

The Remastered version came out a good time after Wii U got its version, which I believe was a launch game (or close to it). exemp30 is probably thinking of the Darksiders 1 remaster (Warmastered Edition), which indeed was released on announced for Wii U.

In any case, it seems to me that Switch is likely powerful enough to handle many 720p X360/PS3 games at 1080p, possibly (this is likely a stretch) at 60fps in a few cases, but you probably wouldn't see any major graphical improvements alongside that that you'd expect and see on the PS4/XB1 versions. That's just total speculation from me, though, based on rumors and what we've seen of Wii U ports so far. It's hard to say until the system releases.

The fact that Switch isn't mentioned for the cool stuff doesn't bode well for its sales or my interest in it.

To be fair the Switch version could have some cool features as well, I just haven't heard anything specific like I have for the others. I don't know everything.

Ah, gotcha. I figured the exclusion was deliberate, so thank you for the clarification.

This game hasn't released on the Wii U and I'd be very surprised if it makes it to be honest. With the NS around the corner, they'd do better to release the Warmastered Edition there.

I do hope that the "cool stuff" includes the NS as well. Otherwise, that version is dead in the water.

Do you have any knowledge of why this game specifically was chosen? Did Switch impact the decision to rerelease this or was it already on the way and a Switch version was just included with the others?
