Capcom Vancouver almost rebooted Dino Crisis, chose Knights of Aegis(GnG) instead

So that Capcom leak was legit? Hell yeah! All three of those games sounded super awesome, Knights of Aegis in particular.

I think it's still in the cards. I think they are waiting to see how Resident Evil 7 does, and teh RE2 remake before jumping in. Jurassic World 2 isn't coming out till 2018-2019. I think they may still make one depending on how Resident evil franchise does currently.

The most logical course for a new DC would be action so I'm not sure why they would need to wait on RE7 and especially Remake 2 to start on it.

Wow, totally thought those were old last-gen pitches. Thanks for the insight though.

Shame about DC getting the shaft though. Game would likely look awesome on current/next-gen hardware if pushed right.

Don't worry guys, I hear they're going to remake it. It will be very faithful to the original. Firstly, there will be no dinosaurs in it as they doesn't test well with focus groups. They will instead put zombies and open world game design. And it will be written by 4 writers, and it will have social commentary. The dinosaurs will represent the political classes.

What could go wrong?

Why so much hate for Capcom Vancouver?

I haven't played it but it seems like Dead Rising 4 may have been "focused tested to death" or something like that. Basically it removed a lot of what made the series fun and what fans enjoyed while poorly executing anything new that may have drawn new players in.

Sounds like they should have just made a new one in the Dead Rising 3 mold.

Nah, they could do moody atmospheric stuff on an island with night and day cycles that change the behavior patterns of certain dinosaurs. Imagine having to run out to a generator at night and you have a light on your hand gun that the battery once in a while goes out and you have to hit it, or find a recharge station. I think that would be compelling lighting wise imagine stumbling during the day on a sleeping T-REX and doing things with scents.

There are multiple ways to go, action is what got us Dino crisis 3. Dino crisis 2 was great, but was all during the day, and you had tons of ammo, and weapons to kill anything with.

A mix of Dino Crisis 1 and 2 with DC 1's atmosphere would be great.

Knows the Score
Guns & Magic reboot of Ghosts & Goblins? From the developer of the increasingly shitty Dead Rising games?

Think I'm going to pass on this.

New IP sounds better than Dino Crisis to me.

take that BACK!!!!

Just turn Dino Crisis into Alien: Isolation.

I would be ok with that, but didn't RE7 do that and it's combat is pretty good. I would rather do something along the lines of Evil within but less enemies at a time thrown at you in the beginning leading you up to a big fight closer to the end with more dinosaurs.

Instead of imaging wrestling with a flashlight battery I'd rather imagine dodging and diving all over the place with RE6 combat (which isn't being held back by RE). It's ground based combat component would be perfect for fighting dinos.

It would make the new DC stand out more and also differentiate it more from RE. RE can have the slow/moody pace with RE7/RE8, DC can be all out action.

Lol watch Capcom screw it up again! Dino Crisis 4 in a different galaxy with aliens, underwater and on a system their main fan base isn't on and hardly anyone owns. Exclusive to Wii U and Amazon Fire. Rofl

I don't want to bother you but I really like the idea and wanted to ask you: is it in production at the moment?

If it's not cancelled it should be past production unless they scrapped it.

Wow, that's actually a relief cause I was afraid that Itsuno might've been working on the Knights instead of DMC5.

And yeah, sorry for your loss :(

I'll never give up hope

Only one question for you if you don't mind: Insider knowledge of Capcom Vancouver or Capcom as a whole?

If you don't want to answer, it's fine! You've already given us enough!

Capcom v this story only. If I get more in the future I'll share,

No more questions. I hate this lol.
I don't know anything about other upcoming capcom games

I really liked the slow pace of DC 1 though?

RE6 is hot garbage outside of Leon campaign. I don't want Capcom to revisit anything like that for DC. DC 3 was too action oriented, it needs to be reintroduced in a way that makes sense. Going all out action isn't the way IMO.

This is so sad to hear, I still live in hope for a reboot that takes the spirit of the first game and makes something new and interesting.

...So they're working on some type of Ghouls n Ghosts reboot/reimagining? Huh. We'll see. At least the Knights thing sounded good on paper.

As for DC...count me in as one that definitely hopes RE6's mechanics find a good home, there. Punching, kicking and/or suplexing a Raptor just sounds like something that would fit.

I'd take the new IP. Capcom haven't made a decent game since RE4 back in 2005 so there's a 100% chance they would completely and utterly screw up the Dino Crisis reboot, probably make it another Outlast FPS game but with scripted dinosaur jump scares, and maybe throw in some survival elements like hunger and thirst because that's what's cool these days.

Yeah but the guys who pitched Dino Crisis didn't make RE7, they made Dead Rising 4. Capcom Vancouver's track record sucks.

I'll see if I can get this clarified. But my source was saying Capcom JP was offering Dino Crisis to capcom CV.

I am unsure if CV then rebutted with the three pitches that have leaked instead.

But at the most basic. Capcom JP offered CV Dino Crisis, they said no. We then got KoA instead from CV.

The big positive to take away here is that it was Capcom themselves that offered CV to do the reboot (according to the OP) so they haven't completely forgotten about the series like many assume.

And it was in 2013 when they were still more liable to hand their Japanese IPs to western devs to work on (whereas the current Capcom would be more likely to work on it themselves).

So yeah, if anything this gives more hope to those still believing.

Did they make Dead Rising 3 or RE6? I thought you meant Capcom making it in general. This team would not be my pick.

Actually I think the RE6 style would translate well to dinos... better than zeds at least. Having a similar freedom of movement along with the super quick dinos would be a good fit

My point still stands, a CV made Dino Crisis would suck.
