I wanted Neon from the beginning, but Amazon started off with just Grey. Then weeks later, out of nowhere, it appears for a few minutes and I probably lost my chance lol
It was really dumb, because I had notifcations and everything, yet I stepped away to help out my folks with something

But I for one don't need extra controllers any time soon, and I sure as hell ain't spending $80 just to get a different color.

That's not the same as buying a Neon Switch. You'd have to buy the red set and the blue set, which is $160 in controllers, to replicate the Neon Switch.
Don't get me wrong. I like the grey and usually prefer black/white/grey when it comes to hardware/accessories, but man... something about the neon colors they settled on really does appeal to the eyes. I can't put my finger on it. I'll just have to grab a neon pair sometime after launch.

Yeah, that's legit. No-one in their right mind goes those lengths to fake something that's out in a few days. The units are out there.

Then don't worry about having the grey. It will age better. The Neon will stand out as obvious "launch hardware" as new colors are released. The grey will melt into the background and always look pretty timeless.

That picture shows the exact set you need. That's a real set. Containing a blue and a red joycon.

Maybe it's due to repetition, seeing this system many times a day, buy it feels iconic. Superb design. Neon makes it shine.

My preorder was for a grey system, but then I cancelled and got a neon one instead. It's just so much more festive!
Eh, no need to convince. I'm perfectly fine with the Grey. I'm happy I got a pre-order at all. I just prefer the Neon, and I have until March to miraculously obtain one. Also I've never owned a console that had an alternate color (Black Wii U, themed Xbox, etc.) Always end up with the plainest/default color. Yea sure, maybe it'll be "timeless", but just once it would've been nice lol
Compared to Wii U and even PS4, it's a very desirable object.

Yeah you can't fault the design. Nintendo really have done a good job with it. Hope Nintendo releases some design documents or a Iwata asks style video on how they come to such designs.
