The tone of the levels in the final third should be the base for a sequel. Atmosphere-wise the stages in the beginning didn't fit the story at all. All these empty of life ruins with spooky sounds felt like the developers were obliged to make them in such a presentation because that's what Souls does. Yet it didn't correlate with the pseudo-history and pink puppies. Towards the end, the game conveys its own feel much stronger.

Aww yeah, indeed.
Now I don't feel like playing anymore -_-.

Ha, same feeling for me. But I don't feel like playing anything else either. At least Zelda is out soon.

Congrats btw!

Uesugi is on Tokogawa side and Date is on Ishida/toyotomi

Come on KT you should know which clans sided with who during this period

In case anyone was curious, equipping 2 Yasakani Magatamas does not reduce set requirements by 2. There goes my plans of having a mishmash of 3 different sets lol.

Level 1 run update: Had way more trouble with M
itsunari
than I care to admit.
Giant skeleton
was pretty infuriating... Had to kill both arms and legs + 1 extra leg before he finally died. I'm getting close to those two side missions that I'm not sure I have it in me to complete haha.

I feel the same.

I want TN instead of continueing Williams story to instead focus on the establishment of the Qin dynasty and demon emperor Qin Shi Huang who created the first unified China. I imagine an amazing fight with his terracota army

I somehow stumbled my way through the entire Samurai From Sawayama level while only hitting the first shrine and narrowly defeating the boss. Honestly, that entire level seemed like hell and I got lost so many times I'm just happy I didn't die and have to do it over. Literally only came across one other shrine but couldn't figure out how to get to it.

Where to get those?

It's a random green drop with a low drop rate in NG+. There are a few different farming methods, but this is the one that I used. The loot in the video is always an accessory and is pretty quick to get to. I also equipped accessories with +Luck, was in the Clan that gives a bonus to Luck, used the spider Guardian Spirit, and used the onmyo Luck Talisman to boost the chances of the accessory being a divine (green).

Damn pretty impressive to make it through that whole level without dying. That one was a maze for me. Got lost multiple times.

I hope you didn't farm that second one, because the help text says the reduction doesn't go beyond -1 :p

Does anyone know the numbers regarding the swords' mystic arts? How much less ki / more back damage is it?
Feels like normal back damage is 50% and Sword of Execution bumps it to 100%.

So, uh, does this game only have like 6 enemies or something? I've cleared the 1st island and the shitty but obligatory poison level, but I'm still fighting pretty much the same guys I've been fighting the whole time, plus a wheel with faces on it.

Got yukki half way 1st try. Went pretty smooth but got overwhelmed by her attacks and then died. Doesnt seem that hard tbh.

Yeah, I did that level earlier today and pretty much same thing. I went through the entire level, and got to the boss door without finding a single other shrine. I got up to just under a million Amrita. xD

I didn't actually do the boss though. I went back to find Kodama, and the Shrines. The second shrine was the last thing I found(well, used, I saw it early on but didn't find the path), lol.

The more I play the more that Polygon messaging is hilarious. I love Nioh, but this isn't even as hard as Bloodborne which was easily the easiest of Souls.

I would say 6 types or so constitute 90% of all enemies yes

You have probably met most by now

There are some, more level specific enemies, also but they are more rarely used

This is one of the reasons i am giving up 75% in. The game does not have the content for its length imo. It would have been a much better, and more focused game if it dropped the loot in favor of level placed items and just focused on quality over quantity. Kind of like

.. Ninja Gaiden Black ;)

Now it really looses steam and goes from exciting to boring

I am starting to get pretty underleveled with new missions. Should I go back and do some twilights or help others for Amrita? Whats the best way to do that.

Just completed the side missions and started the first main mission in the fourth area. I am lvl 70

If the game just had the side content encounter design in the main story, it would be much better.

Main mission
- Kill this yokai 1v1 again
Side misson
- Kill this axe general + sword general
- Oh and these two cannon users
- OH lets not forgot that spear guy aswelll

I like the side missions that involve fighting old stronger versions of bosses and new big enemies. There was this mission on a bridge that had this
skulking huge Axe man.
Fight was pretty tough and the reward was great. I don't care for rerunning old areas to fight common enemies. I skip to the end of those.

and all the big guys are hiding so you can't snipe them before it starts, so good

Yeah towards the second half of the game it gets much harder to stay on level for the missions, even If you do everything side mission. . However it doesn't really matter. Just do them at your current level. Do some side missions first if you want.

Guys I have a favor to ask, when you play the game please pay attention if you get Kadakawa gear, doesn't matter what piece, what I need is just the mission, during which it dropped for you. It drives me crazy not to have all the pieces of it.

Beat the game and didn't even realize that you can buy arrows and items directly to the storehouse. Shesh. Wonder if items refresh on shrine activation, or just mission starts.

Running off of Custom Firmware
Getting close to wrapping up the looting and exploring of the Twilight Mission version of the boss slime stage (with the three bonfires). I'm stupidly overleveled for this one, but last night was the first time I noticed it pop up, so I quickly started the mission before going to bed. I'm at the third shrine and am about to light the third bonfire, after which I plan on clearing and looting the area immediately before the boss room. Anyone want to help me finish up the boss? Not a tough one, but long and tedious thanks to its excessive HP and limited damage windows.

PSN is Mejilan and I suppose I'll set the password to the ever popular GIFGAF.

Thanks in advance.

Played for an hour or so - completed the tutorial (... and the ACTUAL tutorial) then messed around in the first proper area (wimped out when I got to the first yokai in the building, plus it was time for bed!). Some random questions:

* The spirit stones that give you Amrita also charge your living guardian - is that true of picking up Amrita from enemies as well?
* Does what you're carrying (not equipped) count against your inventory weight?
* Does the weight impact your movement (aside from ki use) before you're encumbered (assuming that's what happens when you hit the limit)
* Are there any other areas in the game as dark as the tower? Even increasing brightness beyond where I normally would (if something's supposed to be dark I like it to be that way) there were areas where I couldn't see a thing
* Do the kodama blessings last until you change them, or until death?
* Aiming with ranged weapons is super sensitive - if I reduce the sensitivity in options for the aim controls does it affect anything else in the game?
* Weapons/equipment that I'm not going to use - any reason not to just offer it up at an altar?

I'm sure I had more to ask. I'll check back in the morning!

Going to stick with swords for now (I've set spears as my backup) and am focusing on understanding the medium stance before I worry too much about the other options. Liking what I've played so far!

I watched the couple of videos Jeff Green put up on YT from his Twitch sessions and... well let's just say it's not as hard as he made it look! Not that it's easy, but I was expecting to struggle more than I have so far. I'm a naturally cautious player anyway, which probably helps.

* Does what you're carrying (not equipped) count against your inventory weight? Only your equipped armor counts to your equipment weight, nothing else. Beside that, there is only the general inventory size limit of 500 items.
* Does the weight impact your movement (aside from ki use) before you're encumbered (assuming that's what happens when you hit the limit) Weight affects your Agility grade. You get Agility A below 30% weight, Agility B at 30%< X<70% weight and Agility C >70%. Your agility affects your dodging and Ki regen.
* Are there any other areas in the game as dark as the tower? Even increasing brightness beyond where I normally would (if something's supposed to be dark I like it to be that way) there were areas where I couldn't see a thing. Nothing quite as dark as that, but some moments are close
* Do the kodama blessings last until you change them, or until death? Until you change them
* Aiming with ranged weapons is super sensitive - if I reduce the sensitivity in options for the aim controls does it affect anything else in the game?
* Weapons/equipment that I'm not going to use - any reason not to just offer it up at an altar? You'll want to convert that shit to money, not amrita. Sell your whites, disassemble everything else and then sell the non-purple crafting materials beside Spirit Stone Chunks. This will make you the most money for quite a while, though what should be sold and what should be disassembled will change later as the item levels go up.

I'm sure I had more to ask. I'll check back in the morning!

love how these flaming wheel things just FLY at you

missed getting crushed by this one by a tenth of a second

Yeah, there's a lot of levels where TN legit uses the firewheels to troll the player. In that same level you can step on some breakable floor that'll drop you in a room filled with p
owder kegs, a firewheel and a fire demon head, just to make sure that you'll make something explode when you swing your weapo
n. That was a beatiful moment.

Why are my twilight missions locked? I think I'm only on the third mission but I haven't been able to do any twilight missions yet.

gotta have played up to the regular mission to unlock the twi version.

Twilight missions are basidally the harder version of story missions. So if you haven't completed the story mission(s) of of the current twilights (change daily), then it'll be locked for you.

Or how on beta that wheelmonk in the twilight caves, the one sitting right behind a curve up on a ledge, would charge you before you could even see it. If you didn't walk up there holding block, you'd be rammed and fall to your death.

Souls have dogs, Nioh has wheelmonks. Screw them all.
