Anyway think I'm gonna pre-order this now, just not sure if through PSN or retail. PSN I can play it straight away, but retail have a really nice steel case. There's no extra bonus for either outside of the armour sets right?

Holy crap! I expected a good game but this is INSANE! So happy that critics seem to love this. Looking forward to playing it myself!

This thread was responsible to gift me with one review where I found the first Horizon screenshot that actually looks bad:

Amazing scores, can't wait.

Last minute downgrade smh. Knew it was too good to be true.

Damn you, Guerilla!

clicks man.

theres always a few really low scores.

always.

remember the 4/10 for UC4?

Yea I edited my post too. It's not about having different opinions, it's about having a valid one. and those reviews invalidate this review as you can see. I have watched a lot of streams for Horizon, and if I'm a gamer that I care and love games and love to encourage developers to bring us fresh ideas, by no means I'll call this effort disappointing, cuz it's certainly not, and the mainstream agrees. The only game I thought was really bad that Rambo game from 3 years a go I guess. and yet I may not rate it 2.5/5 :(

O...kay then. So did a bunch of untrue bullshit, like anti-vaxxers.

I mean, the person can certainly take the criticism into account, but to act like it accurately reflects reality given the concensus we have here is a bit silly.

Yeah, but it's very important to note that we're talking about video game reviews. If a person never had an interest in a certain game, sees 90% of reviews being positive and one review being "average", and highlights only the "average" one, what motive does he have? I think it's a legitimate question.

Seems like you had your mind made up before the reviews even hit. It's alright, you can pick and choose which reviews to trust. I'm sure everyone has a couple of sites they trust.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
I don't think Persona is as popular as some people think it is.

Persona 4 is 90 on Metacritic
Persona 4 Golden is 93

Persona 5 will be at least 90 guaranteed.

RDR couldn't even beat ME2 in 2010.

ME2 was one of the highest rated games last gen and RDR's profile has grown significantly since 2010.

Well I don't think any MC score can be guaranteed, but please see my second post. I wasn't referring to the critical response.

I don't care about scores but what pisses me off is the non-logical reasoning behind that

There is no way this, ambitious new IP, complete-on-disk without a season pass announced before the official announcement, is disappointing (as per USGamer)
And there is no way this game sounds horrible to call it "this is far, far from a bad game" (as per Eurogamer)
being a new IP and not having a season pass doesn't mean it's 'non-logical' for a reviewer to not like it. and you're reading that quote from the eurogamer review completely the wrong way. they're not saying it's a bad game.

4/5 from EZA. That's fine I guess. The "there is more, but we can't talk about it." made me scratch my head.
Now waiting for Karaks review and DF report.

I like the game .. have played for some 20+ hours (not finished it yet, so no verdict). The game is beautiful .. like amazingly beautiful.

I have played on my normal PS4, and on my Pro (1080p TV).

- Vanilla:
- runs fine.
- crashed on me once (the game froze).
- there is some pop in.
- the PS4 gets LOUD during this game.. The fans go crazy.

- PRO:
- Game runs better than on Vanilla, it is easily noticeable.
- Pop-in is better.. but still present.
- Looks a lot more "crisp"
- My PS4 Pro is surprisingly silent during this game, I never noticed the fans. Strange, because some other games make the fans rev up.

What I Like about Horizon:
- Interesting Story.
- The world. It is so fucking beautiful, and it feels alive.
- The metal beasts. I just love these creatures..
- The combat is ok and fun.
- Controls are great.
- The graphics... just wauw..

What I do not like about Horizon:

- Stealth is not always great. You can hide in tall grass, whistle for an enemy. Then wait till he (or the beast) gets over, and press R1 (if you unlocked the skill) to finish them . And then just rinse and repeat until they are all gone. And this is all from the same place, most of the time you don't even have to move.
- Wild life feels a bit limited. (would have liked a bit more variety)
- Some of the persons feel really stiff.

This is a big game, and it is really fun to play. Normally I never finish games like these (I stopped playing The Witcher 3 because the combat felt stiff and boring, and I have only finished that Pirate Assassins Creed in that series), but this game keeps me playing, because the world is great and the story is really interesting.

Would you say the game still looks amazing and is giving you that "Wow effect" on a vanilla PS4 as well?

It would bother me if the gap between the two versions is severe.

Austin Walker from WayPoint also isn't too hot on it.

Knowing him, the game's dynamism is probably insufficient for him. His taste leans him in the Far Cry 2 dogma of game world design.

Yeah I read his tweets and that seems to be a big part of it. He also seemed to find it repetitive and says the last 20 hours of his 30 hour game is repeating what he did in the first 10 hours.

I wonder if he's going to be this diligent in the BotW review thread. It's apparently serious business.

After the live stream it was clear the game was going to have a great foundation. Still, nice to see the game getting such great scores.

I hate people downplaying Killzone 2. At least admit the warzone game mode and the gameplay weight feel made the game more unique amidst the COD clones at the time.

I'm with you. Warzone was amazing, and the gunplay was unique, totally different from any other FPS out there, spent hours overnight playing warzone.

That's not what I meant, I'm expecting it to review extremely well, I just don't think it is as popular as GAF would generally make out - this is strictly on a number of fans/mass appeal basis.

Assuming it is as good as expected, I still don't see it touching RDR in the GAF GOTY awards.

i think that's what atlus are trying to change what with their presence at the last E3 and other events. They want this to be a global success, and like Nioh, the reviews and word of mouth i think will carry P5 further than it ever has. Especially considering Golden was locked to vita

All in all, 2017 is shaping up to be one of the strongest years in gaming of all time.

Just this Q1 has one of the strongest, most dense line-up of good games I have ever seen. Literally like 5-6 games released already/soon to be released that are of excellent quality within the first 2 months.

Again, I don't doubt any of this, I am sure it will be the biggest game in the series, just won't be as massive as some are expecting.
