Nioh |OT| Stamina is Ki

I might switch clans after this closing battle. I've been in Tokugawa camp (bonus amrita/gold from kills) and I'm close to 10% extra "fidelity bonus", but considering how close the revenants are in level even though I'm also using a GS with bonus amrita, and how most gold comes from selling and not killing stuff, I don't think it's helping as much as I thought it would.

What clans are you guys in? Kinda leaning towards the one with luck + silver tongue.

Some side missions offer unique rewards like gestures and especially ninja/samurai/onmyo locks, get those done at least. Also, check for other main missions you might be still missing post credits.

I've been in Takeda since the first day I could join a clan (which was like day 2 or 3). +%damage to enemies below 30% health and +%fire damage.

I'm a damage whore so this is what I went with. But this is of course assuming that it also works on bosses, which I haven't explicitly tested. Being able to burn down the last 1/3rd of a boss's hp bar sounds fantastic to me.

I'll only be able to play tomorrow, but here is my tactic:
- Headshot + iai + final blow on Nobunaga
- Let him enchant his weapon while dodging whatever Yuki throws at me. Keeping the distance is key.
- Whenever Nobunaga attacks with enchantment, I evade and punish with a simple combo, then I keep running away and repeating the same tactic.
- He will try to attack without enchantment, just parry and final blow. Depending on Yuki distance you can even Iai him.
- He will be dead in no time and then I can focus on Yuki.
- Her thrown staff is easy to dodge and leave her open for combos. The ground move only hits on the first frames so you can punish her whenever she tries that. The two melee attacks she does are also easy to dodge and punish.
- The most dangerous move of her is the long distant tackle, but you can prevent that because she always hides her staff when she tries it. Just open some distance and dodge.
- She will be dead in no time with this tactic.
Thx

Question there is this submission called Kurodas Determination is it possible to coop that? I see the gate symbol but there's no shrine in the mission.
If it's possible to coop that someone up for it? NG+ I kind of don't want to fight 2 karasu tengu in ng+ again with suboptimal gear xD

Just joined the clan that gives both 10% gold and Amrita bonuses. Felt like the right choice for trying to level quick.

I'm in the clan that sometimes revives me with 1HP. It saved my ass a few times. Though one time, hilariously, I forgot about it during the twilight Umi-boza fight, and just stopped using the controller for a few seconds. Then I wondered why I didn't get the loading screen and noticed my character was still standing. LOL. Somehow I survived that.

Question: are the dojo mission requirements
maxing out at 15? I kind of want to use a scroll to re-spec 'cause I been putting points in those just to do the missions, but Hattori Hanzo says he has nothing else to teach me. I got a similar message for the warrior mission. Can I strip away the useless (for my build) ninja/magic points and put them back into useful stats? :p

After spending so much time farming and getting a feel for the ranges of different stats, I'm just now realizing that I have a ridiculous roll for item drop rate from early in my playthrough. Usually item drop rate shows up as an uncommon (yellow) and caps at I'd guess +5%. I have a Sanada Crimson chest piece with a common (white) item drop rate of +20%. I was thinking that maybe this was a feature of this DLC armour or something so I crafted a new divine chest piece and reforged until I got item drop rate again, but when I did it was yellow and only +4.8%.

Was this something that was patched? It's a shame that the DLC pre-order gear doesn't drop from revenants because I'd be happy to share it.

Can't wait for NG+. Legit 30 levels under the recommendation and slept through the latest boss fight (forget name, late region
5
.) Didn't use buffs/debuffs or LW, either. I know ilvls matter more, but my gear isn't even good. I'm just using a barebones katana while leveling it for a trophy.

Not a humble brag, just wish it were harder sometimes. The i-frames and stamina manipulation are pretty OP.

20, probably you need to finish region 5.

I did the twilight Ogress mission "in advance" (I was about 20 levels under) since it was unlocked, and it was tough but still doable and I got some sick OP loot now.

Did I make a mistake and will I steamroll everything for a while? xD I got a level 102 sword drop from a revenant (Iga set katana with A+ Heart scaling too) summoned by that guitar oni, it has over 100 damagem ore than my level-appropriate swords. >_>

Bah, how annoying.

Is it cheaper to use the resurrection scroll (or whatever) to re-invest the points in and out for those things? My levels are getting costly...

Welp, fuck.
The Alchemy room in London is one of the most rage inducing rooms I've ever experienced. I had two enemies left, and got caught in post hit animations from the two guys left, while full health -_-. To clarify, it was one projectile, then the other guy's, then before I had a chance the first grabbed me in the chest.

I think I'm good...

You can shoot the glass to take out the yokai and then sneak towards the left
kelley
and take it out, then you only have to deal with two thats how i did it.

Just beat twilight ship level (recommended lv 200) at lv 120. whoever put the
wheelmonk
before onryoki is an asshole, i almost died

The sword's L1+square parry seems so much better than the L1+Triangle parry. More lenient timing and a guaranteed knockdown, I love it.

Give me the strength to stop playing Nioh and start Yakuza 0.
Honestly it's beginning to be a sickness the hunt for loot/character progression.
Just one more level, one more soul match one more title....
It's a great game and it'll still be there when you finally loose some interest in Nioh. ;)

Worst thing in the game for me.

I prefer the scabbard hit followed by slash move. Just hit square when they move.

I have like 30 of those items, use them liberably, not hard to get another. You can also purchase them with honor or whatever the
tea house
currency is.

Hey guys, I just started Nioh today and I have a question... How does the familiarity with a weapon effect it? Is it just a levelling system for each weapon? Thanks

Man, the bosses in this game fucking suck.

The levels are these huge tactical adventures, where you get so many different options and tools and routes to take down your opponents, and you're rewarded for patience and strategizing.

Then the bosses dump you in a tiny arena with one flimsy-feeling, over-aggressive enemy that negates all of your strategies, wastes all your items, and kills you in seconds. Fucking bullshit.

Second boss, fwiw

I'm in Date, not because of the LW boost but purely because Masamune is awesome! :D

Let's paaaarty!

The second boss is kicking my ass. I'm level 30. Any tips? She keeps hitting me from afar. I dodge a lot of her attacks but always end up getting taken out after a few. What stats should I build up?

The Japanese voice acting is by far my least favourite part of the game. I think it's an awful decision. It's not like they didn't have access to English speaking voice actors.
I don't want to read subtitles, it doesn't get the message across like voice acting. The narrative is already obtuse enough.

Think I might just start skipping cutscenes.

My tips are always stay in mid range, dodge twice back when she does her kick combo, and only attack her after she's doing the ground-level attacks with the kicks and umbrella. A longer range weapon helps, I used a spear. Also she gets wrecked by LW (I used fire - Kato, when she had about half or 1/3 of her health bar left) but after you get a few hits in she's gonna try a grab so dodge back and then go at it again.
Wear archer gear - resistance against paralysis and use any charm, talismans or ninjutsu to increase your resistance to paralysis.

stuck on her too. Would love some guidance

Equip a paralysis talisman or two, you should've got at least one from the mission. In fighting her, try using lower stance for more agility, and keep your distance. If she's running to you, step back as she'll use her yokai realm kick combo. Strike when she's open to attack at most twice (or three times in low stance) and step back instantly after that, rinse and repeat.

The level set at the battlefield with Musketeers and cannons firing was very cool.

The 2 bosses at this level was very easy though. First one beaten in first try solo, second spear dude 2nd try solo When i knew he had living weapon.

That bat lady showed up in a side mission and gave me alot of grief, so either the early bosses were much harder or i am getting pro. The bat lady took like 20+ tries in this side mission in the bath house. Luckily shine was just outside the door.

Dont all damage do more from behind?

Yes but since the enemy lies on the floor I never thought about doing it from behind.

By far the toughest section in the entire game for me.

I broke the tubes individually for the yokai, and killed them both using range from the cannons from the doorway before the gate slammed shut. I baited the first Kelley back to the door, and fought that one individually and then broke more glass to get LW up to kill the other two. It was a roadblock for me like no other! And then Hundred Eyes was a total pushover compared to that!

i think putting it in japanese is a lot better than hamming it up with fake japanese accents. there are not many japanese VA in this field who know fluent english or know how to speak it properly in the first place

It's a meter for how familiar you are with individual weapons. Weapon attack and skills will increase the more you use it.

Contrary to the other poster...
I stayed in her butthole most of the time. If you're close she does 3 attacks instead of two, so it's easy to know exactly which one she will do, and react quickly for a couple of hits.

When she shouts, she's gonna do the stun, so just dodge to the side. In the air the same thing.

Her spinny wind attack doesn't hit you if your'e behind her, unlike the animation makes it seem. So I dodged through that.

I didn't try anything fancy with her, just got a couple of medium hits in when I could, and always tried to kick to deplete her Ki. Once her Ki is down I went full ham for a combo or two then got out.

I also struggled with her at the beginning, but I was being overly cautious which made the fight drag on. The key thing is to not get cocky and hit her too much while she's still got ki. I was using a katana the whole time.

I finished it a couple hours ago and wanted to take time to reflect. It's never really over! So many missions and NG+ to try out, but I think I'm taking a break. The end was way weaker than the beginning, but still really enjoyable.

I absolutely hate when a game recycles major bosses for a gauntlet before a main end boss. Fighting those four bosses in a row didn't give me nearly as much trouble as the first tries but it just felt supremely lazy, a repetitive road block to curb progress. Those encounters the second / third time just felt like busy work - and solo-ing them felt a bit punishing, being underleveled and just feeling worn out. The epilogue mission was a lot of fun, just revisiting London after so long felt nice - the alchemy lab reminded me of Alduin's chambers, and that room to get to Hundred Eyes was really difficult for me.

A wonderful game all in all despite the complaints. Enemy variety and level design was a bit questionable in certain areas, but the combat is so damn good, I was able to push through and had a lot of fun.

All these strats for that
alchemy
room, and it was there after much raging in NG+ from
all the offscreen projectile
deaths that I found out
how to cheese pretty much every humanoid in the game:

Certain guardian spirits' talismans knock down on contact, like Daiba-Washi or Mizuchi. Use it when they're all together/lined up, finishing blow (probably hitting them all at once), repeat until they're dead.

You can abuse W+E with that and get it done with no damage taken.

if memory serves, it only hits the arena's outer perimeter. one should be safe near its feet.

reminds me of that NGB catacombs boss, tbh.
Nah, you can still get hit by its feet even if it's just wiggling its toe.

I don't see how you could want even more room in the Hino-Enma fight with how massive that arena is, and there's sufficient space to move around in for Onryoki too.

Very rarely are the boss fights too cramped up, plus you're vastly overblowing how they "negate all of your strategies."
