Wonder if she still wants to claim black

SPOKANE, Wash. – Former Spokane NAACP President Rachel Dolezal is making headlines yet again.

In an article from The Guardian, she said she is jobless and feeding her family with food stamps. She said she had applied for over 100 jobs but no one will hire her. She’s even changed her name on legal documents.

Back in 2015, Dolezal was criticized for passing herself off as a black woman. Dolezal later acknowledged she is "Caucasian biologically," but said she identifies as a black woman. In June 2015, KREM 2 News' Taylor Viydo spoke with the parents of Dolezal who shared photos of her as a child and said Dolezal was biologically white -- not black.

She told the paper that she still feels like she didn’t do anything wrong.

“If I thought it was wrong, I would admit it. That’s easy to do, especially in America. Every politician, they’re like, ‘I’m sorry’ and then they just move on and everybody’s like, ‘Oh, they apologized and it’s all good’. Five minutes later, nobody remembers it. I’m not going to stoop and apologize and grovel and feel bad about it. I would just be going back to when I was little, and had to be what everybody else told me I should be – to make them happy,” Dolezal told the Guardian.

The article also details how her relationship with her parents is basically non-existent and quotes her book “In Full Color: Finding My Place in a Black and White World” that is due out March 28.

And she wonders why folks won't hire her

Unfortunate but at this point I think she needs to admit and own up to her mistakes and quit pretending that she did nothing wrong.

Guess he's getting the real black experience in America now.

That picture of her younger self cracks me up. Not only was she white, she was Family Ties, Full House white.

Well if she wasn't getting the whole black experience before, she's getting it now. Kudos to her if she sticks it out and isn't tempted to let those curls loosen up to make life a little easier.

I mean apart from deceiving people for her ethnicity, has she actually been nasty to people? She may be a bit disguided, but, unless I am missing something, I fail to see why she has been demonised to the degree she has...I mean there is a history of black and Asian people (particularly in my mum's home country India) of trying to look white. Now this woman's case was particularly bizarre (and pretty funny to me), and she has rightly been called out for disception, with perhaps rightful questions about her mental stablility, but I have as of yet failed to see why she has been subjected to so much negative attention. Overall, I don't personally see what she did as that fucking big a deal, outside of her circle and networks. I guess it is the anomylous nature of it.

Or maybe there is something I am missing...

MWS Natural: hahahaha

No, I don't believe so. I hear she actually did a lot of good for the black community and was pretty passionate.

Its been a while but didnt it get out that while she was a college professor she did shit like denying a hispanic student to participate in a race discussion because she wasnt hispanic looking enough to her and other similar incidents. I might have some of the details fogged up

The saddest part of this story is despite all her attempts to pass as a POC, she has the shallowest of understanding of the general black experience.

If she did, she wouldn't try to pass as black or at least her reasoning would be more convincing and/or palatable.

I don't get how people ever even thought she was black. She seemed to just look like she was covered in fake orange tan like Donald Trump. I don't think she ever had any malicious intentions though did she? Just seems like a deeply confused person to me.

Someone like her can just change her name and still get a job. She's not right in the head. Most people are kept out for being black.

Someone needs to tell her how f**ked up she is.

Malicious intentions maybe not... malicious results absolutely. Giving black men shit for dating white women, excluding a hispanic student because she didn't look hispanic enough... shit like that.

She also sued Howard University for discrimination. This whole thing feels like she watched Soul Man and thought; "This is a damn good idea!"
Rachel Dolezal, the former president of Spokane, Washington's NAACP who resigned Monday amid controversy over her racial heritage, unsuccessfully sued Howard University in 2002 for discriminating against her because of her race.

Dolezal's lawsuit against Howard, a historically black university, alleged that the university denied her a teaching assistant job, further employment and a scholarship because she was white. The lawsuit also claimed that Professor Alfred Smith, chair of the Art Department, specifically kept Dolezal from serving as a teaching assistant one semester and removed some of her artwork from a student exhibition because of racial prejudice.
She's a garbage human being.

Edit:
For those of you who don't know what Soul Man is:
In order to win a scholarship, Mark Watson (C. Thomas Howell), the white son of an affluent psychiatrist, pretends to be black on his application form. When he's accepted, he alters his hair, skin and speech to conceal his true identity. At first Mark believes that going through law school as a minority will be a breeze, but he soon begins experiencing racism. Eventually, Mark falls in love with Sarah Walker (Rae Dawn Chong), a black student, and begins to feel guilty about his ruse.
It's the film that torpedoed C. Thomas Howell's career.

Feel bad for the kid she gave birth to and that's about it. She can still make a living and she needs to make major adjustments to get it done.
