Is Venom Snake the best "snake" design in all of Metal Gear Solid?

I started playing MGSV again on Xbox One and started wondering ig Venom Snake was the best designed "snake" in the series. After thinking about it, i'd have to say he is. The whole punished aspect elevates him to the top. He's been through hell, and he's back after clawing his way out. That's not to say the other designs are bad, but I feel that most lack a story from just looking at them. Being able to see a story in a character isn't a requirement of course. But it really does help his case, when compared to the rest. I made this thread, more so to see what the general opinion is. Remember i'm talking strictly design here. So accomplishments Solid, Big Boss, or Venom accomplished aren't a factor here.

I love everything about his character design. So he'd be my favorite on aesthetics. I personally also really liked his story and arc.

Nah, my favorite is still MGS2 Snake. I like the sneaking suit look, and he looks more weathered and mature compared to MGS1 without the deliberate character assasination of 4.

MGS3 is the runner up just because I miss the days when Snake actually smiled and had a sense of humor.

He could have easily been just a throw away character but overall he turned out very memorable, both in terms of design and story.

Steve, the dog with no powers that we let hang out with us all for some reason
For 3D designs:

MGS2 > MGS4 > MGSV = MGS1 = GZ > MGS3

(From an aesthetic point, obviously, ignoring the graphics from a technical view)

Yes. Best character design ever, in fact.

Ranking the Snakes: MGSV > MGS3 > PW > MGS4 > MGS2 > MGS1

I've never actually played any MGS games, but did watch my in-law play 3. I'm pretty partial to that design as a result. Venom does look good though.

As much as I love MGS1 Solid Snake, I can't help but think how good looking and how much of a hunk Venom Snake every time I see the back of that PS4 box.

Yes, I loved how the Oni concept blended with the Big Boss design. And he looked fine in every outfit. It's my favorite Snake design.

The nostalgic in me goes for MGS1 snake.
The story, context lover in me goes for MGS4 snake.
The purely aesthetic side of me goes for MGSV:TPP snake.

My favourite is still MGS1 snake. There's something about how hard his body seems, along with the high collar, the short hair. The whole thing just makes me think of Shadow Moses.

As far as design is concerned, yes. Most certainly. But in a way that only makes MGSV more bitter sweet. With time I've come to realize The Phantom Pain and Guns of the Patriots are very similar in that they both shine incredibly brightly in spots and are complete disappointments in others (sorry for the tangent).
Not just Venom, though, all of MGSV's character designs, Quiet and Code Talker aside, are standouts in the series.

Oh of course, far and away.

Everyone looks better with the "Open-World Ponytail"

Good observation. Ponytails like that looks dope on some people. It's like the samurai bun but more like a traditional ponytail.

What's interesting about Snakes is that his sides are completely short. Geralt has long side hair. Doesn't that mean that Snakes hair is actually a mullet if he doesn't have it in a pony tail?
