I just met Avad, and I also just hit level 50. That's the max apparently, ahaha. So I guess I overleveled a lot. But the game is so insanely fun I've spent a crazy amount of time just hunting and doing side quests. I think they could have given out a little less XP.

Honestly had little interest in this game in the leaf up to release. Ended up buying it yesterday after reading all the positivity and having just finished Uncharted 4.

Very pleasantly surprised, the game is very very good.

Wildlife pieces are a pain to farm for the carry capacity upgrades. Need turkey/fish bones/skins for just about every upgrade atm, and slaughtering dozens of each is just giving me various meats. Can you buy them at a vendor anywhere?

They definitely throw boatloads of XP at you at all times. Luckily being overlevelled in this game doesn't really make it that much easier, as long as you're playing on Hard or Very Hard.

I love how well this game does that thing where you look at mountains in the distance, or a valley or canyon or something, and the stuff near the horizon looks so far but of course it's like a five minute walk away, but it legit looks miles and miles off. It seems like few if any games achieve that illusion so majestically and convincingly (The Witcher, SOTC, and Red Dead Redemption are up there too).

that Vanasha NPC.....

what are you doing to me GG

Just finished the Grave-Hoard quest. Now I know what Jeff Gerstman meant when he said its good sci-fi.
Goddamn I want to keep playing but its already 2am :D

I just hit that point in the story where it's hard to do side stuff because I want to know more.

But I haven't hit level 50 yet... 😭

Beat my first Thunderjaw, took me a good 3/4 tries before I found a reliable way to take them down :D

It is always awesome to see some1 new beat thunderjaw. It was like a darksouls experience for me when i roll on to him when i was lvl 9. Took me 20 tries.

guess i really need to start that Vanasha quest then

i just assumed it was a throwaway quest line since it popped up so late in the game

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
The hunting ground missions give you a stupid amount of experience for getting a Blazing Sun. Its almost 14K XP for each trial! I've only got to get 3 more Blazing Suns and this quest line by itself boosted me halfway to Level 30

Should I be doing the Hunting Ground quests? They all seemed like a bunch of timed-trial stuff & I NEVER do any of the timed trial things in open-world games ever.

Also how far into the game am I? I'm currently Lvl. 21 at 24 hours in. Haven't reached Meridian yet.

I had a little time to play today so I decided to do an open sidequest and and errand I had. And decided to work on the hunter trials. I did one a while ago and did three tonight. One more to go. Gotta say that I am not loving them at all. Not really too fun and I think the hunting quests would be better as open world activities to do through the game. Actually, the the weapon tutorials feel like better hunting ideas.

Oh. I wasn't paying attention to the XP. That would explain my overlevel problem, ahaha. I did all the trials, Blazing Sun. I needed those sweet, sweet weapons.

I should probably continue the main quest but I desperately don't want this game to end.

Finally this beautiful artbook arrived earlier today... Really hooked me in this game, trying to get as much playtime where possible. Superb work by Guerrilla.

They give you the best weapons in the game, and they serve as advanced tutorials. You might learn a new trick or two there. It's worth doing imho.

I have three 45%+ handling coils on my Lodge ropecaster. It's pretty insane how quickly it can down a thunderjaw. I thought every encounter after would be easy peasy and then I encountered my first rockbreaker duo.

I learned the hard way that rockbreakers don't give a fuck about ropes.

Best way to deal with rockbears is by cheesing them from outside of their zone. They can only throw rocks at you.

Not sure if this will be patched. But as I previously mentioned a few days ago, every machine has its own zone and they just can't go outside of it.

Is there a guide that explains what the different icons mean when you scan a Dino? I've noticed a few symbols that I can't identify

Which symbols?

Fire: flame🔥
Shock ⚡ (blue bolt)
Curruption: green swirly thing
Freeze: can't remember the symbol. It's light blue think it's a jagged thing.
Tear: Split looking shield

Also go into your notebook and it'll give you the information for each.
