Unless ME:A has an amazing story and combat, it's gonna be forgotten in a week.

Oh yeeeah?

What if the twist is they're all an advanced form of Geth trying to pass off as humans and that's why they can't quite seem to grasp emotion?

Speaking of robots, how's the Nier QL? Does Alex show off the RPG aspects or does he just make it seem like Bayonetta?

So as someone who played ME1 for like 10 minutes before realizing I wanted nothing to do with it, what do people play Mass Effect for? Because with the jankiness, the boring combat, and the glitches, I always assumed it was the story, the character interactions, the writing, and the world that pulled people in. But with ME: A, the people that are enjoying it are saying things like, "eh I don't mind that the writing is bad", "oh that's just typical Bioware character animations", "oh yeah the story is hammy but that's not the reason I'm playing". So why do people like this series? Because from an outside perspective, this seems like me saying, "Yeah the new Mario game has pretty bad platforming, but that's not why I'm playing it"

Mass Effect: Andromeda |OT| ME:A Culpa

Damn that's good

The series went through a transformation. Further into action game with every release. So you have fans of all aspects of the game.

What happened to Bioware, guys? Did the one guy with good ideas leave after ME2 or what? This is a fucking tragedy. Bioware used to be one heck of a name in the business, but now it just leaves behind a foul aftertaste.

Much like if there was a Matrix 4 I would see it, I did love Mass Effect at one point so I will probably play and finish it at some point. Might just have some drinks with someone while playing so we can mock it.

Nice.

I traded in Horizon for Nier yesterday, loving it so far.

Gonna be a hard decision for me between Nier, Yakuza 0 and likely Persona (not even counting any unexpected gems that may come up) for best soundtrack.

Funnily enough, those 3 in their own way also could go for Best Style.

I expect there will be a handful of great moments in that game, and the shooting/ open world stuff might be fun for a while. Hopefully when I play it some of the buggyness will have been patched out. There will probably be good dlc too because bioware is real good at putting out dlc that's had more care put into it then the main game.

The Live look on ME:A killed any hype I had for that game, it destroyed it. And I enjoyed both 1 and 2 very much, even enjoyed the third a bit, but this one looks rough as dicks.

Going to see King Kong today, awww yiiis.

*shrug* I like sci-fi and RPGs and the first two Mass Effect games had an acceptable world, enough RPG systems and played well enough for me to enjoy them. I've spent way more time reading bad sci-fi than I did slogging through ME3 so I count myself as a fan.

ME trilogy always had fantastic lore and some interesting characters. The gameplay in ME1 was jank but ME2 was super fun. ME3 was okay. Also, the music was a true highlight in all 3 games.

I imagine the main thing is that this is a new BioWare studio. The team that made ME 1-3 is working on a new IP. The team that made Andromeda has only made some DLC and 3's multiplayer previously iirc.

I've only watched a small portion of the stuff out there, but what in the fuck is going on with their eyes? One of the early scenes looks like a character is either reading from a teleprompter or straight up looking at the camera.

Mass Effect is gonna be a legit hottest mess contender ain't it

The best hot mess.

It feels like the court of public opinion is already hanging it.
But I'll say again, I really enjoyed the bit I actually played.

For better or worse it felt like mass effect.

But I also really liked all of Mass Effect 3 including the end. I was so excited to hop online and read other peoples reactions...and then was shocked when I felt so differently. So don't listen to me.

You're not alone, there's people in the EA Access thread who feel the same way. We'll see what reviews are like on Mondays I suppose.

I mean I've definitely seen people who enjoyed the demo too. It varies from person to person how much the presentation effects them.

Glad to hear that. I'm still totally down to play a new Mass Effect game even if it's rough around the edges. I'm just going to wait for reviews.

Court of public opinion was hanging Doom before it came out. If Mass Effect is good people will change their minds. But this first reveal isn't doing it for a lot of people

Yeah I enjoyed it too. There are some grating aspects like the menu or traversing the open world not being as smooth as I'd like but I'm looking forward to it anyway.

Can't wait for another F&F tomorrow.

Speaking of which, there's a moving company in Portugal that is heavily "inspired" by the series, so to speak, complete with a Vin Diesel look-alike owner.

The name?
Fast&Serious

I saw their moving trucks once in the street and they gave me a laugh.
