Which is why they did a great job on Iron Fist too.
Finn is fine as the character. I don't think anybody could have made the material he's given work great.
The show has tons of problems but the writing is by far on the top of the shit heap.
I mean for god sakes BvS is 10 points higher than Iron Fist? BvS?! That's literally one of, if not the worst film I have ever seen. Same for Suicide Squad.

the rest of the cast was pretty great. the actor for ward wasn't great but it's not entirely his fault coz the script was iffy as well.Which is why they did a great job on Iron Fist too.
If it didn't fit into the whole Defenders project and Colleen wasn't in it, I don't think I could've gotten through this.
It was plodding and painfully boring at times. The dialogue was really awkward. I've read it defended by saying he's been in a monastery since he was a kid, but the none of the other monks we hear speak do so like children as he does. Additionally, he's been around other adults. He's not naive to the way adults speak. It made the decision by Finn Jones (or the director) of playing Danny like a 12 year old and not just a fish out of water really odd. Am I supposed to believe he was raised to be a warrior yet not mature into an adult?
The plot, almost at all times, requires every person involved to make poor decisions. All of the characters are idiots. The characters must all have a homing beacon because any time the plot requires them to find each other they just do. Multiple times I asked myself how Danny knew they would be at that restaurant or wherever.
The action was awful. Almost everyone seems to agree. It makes no sense why he struggles at times. Really bad editing and shot poorly. Fights are a mess to watch.
The ending was ridiculous. Why does he get his ass kicked so easily by Harold? Even if his hand was shot, he's still the god damn Iron Fist and is fighting an old man with a pipe. When he got knocked down and is having a vision, then wakes up, why was Harold walking away? Why does Joy so quickly agree Danny has to die after he saved her? Why did Harold even keep the tablet? How did Ward know the code?
I think this would've worked better as a shorter series or a movie. There just wasn't enough there. This was not only worse than the other shows, it belongs on the CW right after Arrow.

Reading this I was trying to understand the dissenting opinion. But now I understand that was a mistake.
i didn't like her in the beginning either, they made her necessarily stubborn, too stubborn but towards the end she got likable4 episodes in, I can't say I like Colleen at all. And her subplot feels like it has nothing to do with Danny at all.
I actually like Joy much more, at least all her scene add to Danny's story.

to trust Danny.Stubborn in what way exactly
Danny is supposed this master martial artists and be a weapon better than the hand they probably don't waste soldiers and probably trying to be him on their own terms. It's just due to how unconvincing Danny is as this master martial artistEpisode 6
Why would the Hand challenge Iron Fist to honorable mortal combat with stipulations? When searching for Elektra and DD, didn't they just send like 40 ninjas to kill them in their sleep? Why would Gao let him live after breaking the honor part of the duel? None of this makes sense.
to trust Danny.
I get that it's realistic she'd stay away from him and his bullshit, but her resistance was long and her coming around took longer than it should have imo.I liked that about her. Realistically, I'd stay the fuck away from Danny and his bullshit. Although this got all messy later on when it was revealed that she was a part of the Hand. (Sheesh, is every prominent Asian character in the Netflix shows a part of this organization lmao)

It could be Wonder Woman thing where because the material around isn't very good, it makes them better where they would have been fine in a better show/movieWhy is there a seeming echo chamber regarding how great Colleen supposedly is? She seemed perfectly average in just about every way possible, with rarely anything that really made her stand out. In fact, one thing that did make her stand out was not actually all that beneficial, and made her seem more ridiculous than anything as though she was just playing dress up.

The best acting over the course of the show was from Trinity, who we rarely get to see.
Because everyone was so much worse in the first half, I may as well point out the one decent character with potential, as I liked her personality. Her character did get worse as the show progressed though, no doubt about that. Like Danny, if given a better script, I'd watch a spinoff with her in it.
But giving props for pure mediocrity? Nope. Not gon be able to do it.
Some of y'all really enjoy this shit heap better than JJ or Cage?
Super hyperbole.
I believe bad word of mouth influenced a lot of people's minds in this thread. We had a 3 month lead up to this thread of people like slayven telling us that Danny gets his ass kicked a lot, he is not as good as he is supposed to be whatever whateveretc etc and then when that's what we are given, people are like "he sucks", well yeah no shit, dude is still Danny Rand, he has the power of the iron fistThats his character and he portrays it well. The next show will probably be him and Luke Cage together. If anything, that will make Luke Cage a lot more exciting to more people. Just call it "Heroes for Hire"but has yet to actually fully give into it. As shown when he refuses to kill the hand during the first challenge and refuses to strike down gao....When he doesn't even know he can heal colleen

Sure. Okay. That's just genuinely confusing.

I enjoyed it a lot more than Luke Cage part 2 or Daredevil Season 2 part 2
I mean...you might as well say "How come daredevil can get his ass kicked so easily by a fat old man in lightweight armour?" at the end of DDS1.
Like, the show literally shows that Faramirs been under effectively house arrest for the last decade and apart from having hand super soldier serum flowing through him keeping him young has spent a shit ton of that time working out with punchbags - pretty much every time someone goes to visit him hes either in his hyperbaric chamber, watching his CCTV or training.
It's not like "oh that dude can fight now?" comes out of nowhere
What are the problems that you're seeing? Maybe I just need to rewatch all 13 episodes.

what was the game of thrones reference? was it that line when ward sayshe's living in another world, talkin bout a dragon
and joy responds by sayinghe's living in ours now
?

He got trained by some normal human fighter. You don't even know if the hand magic makes him stronger. He never once shows any strength feats the way they purposely show Iron Fist do them like the car scene. Danny was trained by warrior monks in a magic hidden city to use his chi and fight a fucking dragon. This dude can fight his son or maybe some guards, but Danny should demolish him. You can't compare Fisk at all since he's shown throughout the series as being an exceptional combatant. You don't even have to bring in the comics, he does it in show repeatedly.
BvS for all its faults at least gave me some fun dumb action.
Iron Fist hasn't given me anything so far.
Cage is absolutely dreadful after they kill off Cottonmouth and was just okay before that. Iron Fist develops characters pretty well and even with it's faults I enjoyed the ride.
Pretty much my exact thoughts.
The show literally shows him carving up bodies with a goddamn hammer, splitting a punchbag, whacking a triad with a sword through the head and outright calls out that he hasn't aged / has barely aged since danny last saw him. "Hes just some old dude" is not a thing ever shown in this tv series, comics have nothing to do with it.
And yeah, you can compare him directly to fisk, because fisk holds his own against a trained ninja with actual super powers because hes a big guy who works out who is fucking angry enough to ignore pain - like Faramir is a big guy who works out and has lost a chunk of his soul via evil magic resurrection and who has no fear of death or injury - these are all things presented on screen in their respective series, if you like fisk as a bad guy more than faramir thats one thing, but its another to pretend that shits happening out of the blue with no setup or internal logic
