Star Wars |OT| I have a very good feeling about this...

Maybe I'm remembering wrong but wasn't it just last year that there was a Rogue One sizzle real type thing that we all got but we had to wait for the trailer?

Yeah, there was an exclusive trailer that the people at Celebration only got to see. That said, we'd already had at least one good look at Rogue One at that point. The Last Jedi is still due its first teaser, I'd be shocked if it wasn't released to everyone. I think there's a chance of a BTS reel as well.

Alright, I'm glad I'm remembering at least sorta correctly.

I have this fear that we're getting sizzled and that they're saving the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy since it's out on May 4th weekend in the US.

The only scenario in which this occurs is one where something happens at the 40th panel the day before that completely and utterly drowns out even a new trailer for a long-awaited Star Wars movie like TLJ.

I'm talking "we're not only announcing Kenobi: A Star Wars Story with Ewan as the lead, but we're ALSO debuting a pre-production trailer of him in the role" levels-of-hype-meter-exploding.

R1 is way different than seeing a new episode for the first time. I really doubt they would do this with EP8.

just you watch.

Disney don't give a fuck, it knows it has your money come December

it needs to keep people paying for tickets to their convention by giving them exclusive trailers.

eh, I think a lot of people would still be more excited to see Old Luke do shit in Episode 8 than to see Ewan McGreggor being Obi Wan again.

Uh.. I don't think they've had a problem selling tickets in the past? Seems like this shit has been jam packed.

It's probably a solid bet that we're not going to see Old Luke do much of anything until the second trailer at best. They're going to tease the hell out of him.

We ain't getting sizzled. That SWCE exclusive trailer for Rogue One was mostly what we had already seen in the first trailer with a sprinkling of new stuff and a Vader tease. Totally different scenario.

Do we know if Rian Johnson is cutting the teaser?

Do any of the directors cut trailers? I was under the impression that this is usually marketing or separate ad agencies. Did JJ or Edwards make any of the trailers?

I can't remember JJ mentioning whether he was directly involved in the trailers. Gareth sounded pretty hands-off as well when he spoke about the TIE fighter shot they used in the marketing.

Hey so is there a website that I can find out more about the Star Wars Celebration crew member job? I got the job and everything but the page that had the info on the site is gone now. I have no idea what the next step is. I really want to go to the Celebration!

I kinda want Hayden's Anakin to be redeemed. I really don't like the prequels but I feel like the dude got way too much shit.

I think some directors do. I'm pretty sure Zack Snyder did the Man of Steel trailers but I could be wrong. No idea if Abrams or Edwards did the trailers for their respective films.

Have you tried contacting them? Maybe you can ask on Twitter or Facebook.

Also see if you can pull up a Google cache for the page in question. When they added the "what single day badges can overnight" examples they kinda nuked all the RULES about overnighting, but I managed to pull them up via cache. Note: I need a sleeping bag.

I think a lot of directors would love to be able to cut trailers but simply do not have the time! I know on the TV side, occasionally Filoni has been able to cut the trailers but not always. But when the choice is make sure the movie looks and sounds how you want, and cutting a trailer, I think most will stay working on the movie.

I also don't think they are going to sizzle only. By the time of Celebration last year (which was later in the year) there had already been a teaser and a trailer for R1. It's a different situation. Plus now with the home video release of R1 out of the way, it actually IS time for TLJ marketing machine to kick off. Also I intend to be in the audience so I want a trailer. >.>

It's weird alright, surely the point of these stories is to add additional context to the world of the film.

I suspect it might be little out of proportion but it's a combination of,
1. there is nothing in the new policies to stop LFL from hiring people to create total flights of fancy stories that CLEARLY never happened
2. Somewhere in this book, someone is going to tell their version of events in a way that we KNOW isn't what happened onscreen. Like, someone else saves Luke in the cantina or something like that.
3. Canon really is just - what do you have to follow later. But hey, there's a bit of truth to legends...

BF didn't win the Funko lottery, so I suspect no Empire Chopper or Hoth Leia for me, but there better still be that stupid Whilo Ben pin for him to snag for me at 2 PM... Also his work wants him to wear a GoPro during the con. I'm like "to get footage of standing in lines and being told stuff is out of stock?"

Yes please! I just want more Hayden/Anakin. Dude's underappreciated.

I wasn't sure where to start contacting haha! All I've tried is Twitter and the SWC app. I really should try Facebook. I just really want to make sure I'm prepared for this.

Thanks for the Help! Appreciate it!

Oh I actually never tried pulling up a Google cache! This might work! The page that had all the info about hired applicants also mentioned things like flight info and hotel info along with what crew members are going to do. But its been replaced with a page that just says "We are currently reviewing applications".

Thanks for the help too!

Hate to be that guy but I think some of you have forgetting just how bad his portrayal of Anakin was in the PT. No, it wasn't all on him but I think he was clearly miscast and is still pretty bad in other roles I've seen him in.

He seems like a cool dude and I'm glad he's still involved with the fans.. But I don't think there's any good reason to bring him back into the universe. Jake Lloyd.. Poor guy.. Shouldn't be blamed for the PT either, but that doesn't mean he also wasn't blatantly miscast.

Some things are better left alone. It's the same reason why you'll never see a reemergence of Jar Jar Binks.

Why's that?

Carrie Fisher.

Speaking of (I don't think this was posted already):

Star Wars Episode IX Will Reportedly Feature Previously Shot Footage of Carrie Fisher

Speaking to the New York Daily News, Todd Fisher, Carrie's brother, said that he and her daughter Billie Lourd ”have granted the studio rights to use recent footage" of Fisher for Star Wars Episode IX, which is expected to be out in 2019.

”Both of us were like, ‘Yes, how do you take her out of it?' And the answer is you don't," Fisher told the newspaper. ”She's as much a part of it as anything and I think her presence now is even more powerful than it was, like Obi-Wan, when the saber cuts him down he becomes more powerful. I feel like that's what's happened with Carrie. I think the legacy should continue."

Episode III was filmed in 2003...nearly 15 years ago.

Hayden is not able to play Clone Wars era Anakin. It's been about 15 years already since they filmed Episode III, and their schedule is already busy for films through 9.

He will be about 18 years older than when they filmed Episode III in 2003 the next time they haven an open slot for a film. He can't play Clone Wars era Anakin anymore. He'll be around 40 by the time they could film this. It just doesn't work at all. It's been waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long since they filmed Episode III.

Not to mention Matt Martin of the story group pretty much shot down Ahsoka ever appearing in a live action film. He said they develop the films so that if you only watch them (which applies to the majority of the audience) you will get 100% of the story. That you never have to go to one of the animated series, books, etc to fully get the story. That you can get the complete story entirely from just the films. You can't have Ahsoka just randomly pop up in a movie. The audience will be confused at the fact it is never shown on screen where she came from or where she goes after.

The answer can't be "go watch Clone Wars/Rebels". Everything has to be done entirely in the scope of the live action films. Marvel follows the same rule with their films.

So Hayden will be too old, and Ahsoka appearing goes against their stated intention of keeping the films their own complete stroy that can be consumed entirely on their own....it's not ever going to happen lol.

Ahsoka can't appear in a film like this. It goes against the entire stated goal of the live action films ot keep them completely independent in which you get the 100% full story from just the films. Just like Marvel.

You can't tell someone go watch Clone Wars or Rebels to know where Ahsoka came from or where she goes. They have made it clear that the films will give you 100% of the story, that none of the films will ever require watching one of the animated series for explanation of major story elements.

To the film only audience Anakin never had an apprentice.

So, why is everyone then raving about a Obi Wan on Tatooine movie if this confirms that its never going to happen becaue of silly rules that can change from one second to the other? 🤔

What? That has nothing to do with an Obi-Wan film. An Obi-Wan film wouldn't require ever watching any of the animated series. It's not like Ezra, Maul, or Satine would be in it as a lead.

An Ahsoka movie would require that. At most 2-3% of anyone watching a Star Wars film has seen any of the animated shows, its treated like the novels, comics, etc. They are never going to make them required viewing for one of the films to understand where a character came from.

It would be like making audiences watch an episode of Agents of Shield to know where the lead of the next Avengers movie came from.

-Rebels and Clone Wars are treated with the same Canon Level as the movies. Everything was purged, these shows were not and they never will be

-Millions and Millions kids know who Ahsoka is and love her.

-They can put in two sentences to explain this.

I'd be very surprised if Ahsoka turned up in live-action. As Jacce said, most of the audience wouldn't even know who she was, and the idea of Anakin having an apprentice took some getting used to. I wasn't too keen on the idea at first but it grew on me significantly as the show progressed.

If further animated show characters do turn up, it'll be relatively small roles like Saw in Rogue One, where a character that already exists can just slot in. Kathy Kennedy was pretty skeptical when asked if further characters would turn up in the films.

As for Hayden, I think the most likely return would be a ghost Anakin scene, but I still consider that pretty unlikely. Loved the concept art though. I expect his attendance at Celebration is just for the 40th anniversary celebrations. He did play one of the main characters of the saga after all. Plus, it's nice to earn a few quid now and again.

I could see Ahsoka showing up in live action but not as a lead character. If Saw Gerrera can show up, why not Ahsoka? You know what you need to about Saw within the context of Rogue One but it's deeper for those who already know his character. That being said, while I could see a scenario where Ahsoka shows up, I doubt it'll ever happen.

Makeup can do wonders.

This reminds me of those people who ask for Liam Neeson to reprise the role of Qui-Gonn in a Qui-Gonn spin-off telling the tale of the character's early years...despite the fact that Liam Neeson, like any of the prequel actors, would be over twenty years older before they'd get the chance to make it.

"He can just wear make-up!" people claim.

Nah, guys. Nah.

If some fans had their way, they'd stick Mark Hamill in a blonde wig and have him re-enacting Luke's adventures between New Hope and Empire.

-Millions and Millions kids know who Ahsoka is and love her.

Think you're over-estimating the number of people who watch these shows there, chief....let alone the number of children who enjoy the character, popular though she is.

My Cousin is working in kindergarden... everyone of the kids knows Clone Wars. There are two additional people who told me that their kids got hooked on Star Wars through the show.

Its the beginners drug if you are not old enough for the movies nowadays
