I need to stop being a prime member. It's clear that amazon don't fulfill orders in the order they receive them, and because they ship out via prime the night before, they're the last to fulfill and clearly they ran out of stock :/

I'd complain to them but there's no point, their cs really don't seem to care.

I've ordered from Argos now and will collect tonight, but now I'm reading horror stories regarding handheld performance over on reddit :(

I've not tried the game docked yet but handheld performance is pretty damn bad. The game slows down too when performance drops, Just Cause 3 style. It's especially noticable when driving.

Is docked performance much better? Hoping they can fix it with a patch.

I moved from docked to handheld last night when I went to bed and it was noticeably worse. Whenever possible I wil play in docked mode, that's for sure.

It's much much better than handheld, unless you're playing co-op.

I played the game a lot yesterday. Man, I forgot how awesome the game is overall and was having a lot of fun. In that time, the game crashed three times. Playing docked on the NS. It seems they didn't fix the random crashes the Wii U would have while playing. Still, the game is sharp and looks great on the NS. No complaints at all. Hope they do something about handheld mode, though. You guys should be getting a good experience, too.

Damn, not sounding good :( Handheld is what im planning on playing all the time.

handheld runs fine when you're in one of the missions / level things. not so fine when you're out in the city.

like, if you're just going from A to B to do the next mission it's alright. but I wouldn't want to spend extended time exploring the open world undocked. I was working on repairing a corrupt video driver install last night on my PC so I was stuck playing handheld.

No regrets about buying it.

I did get two crashes too... so this definitely needs some patch love. Playing with a physical copy fwiw.

Been holding off since I wanted to see how the performance for the Switch port was.

Considering the incentive of buying it for the Switch is to play it on the go, it's pretty shitty that the undocked mode is apparently worse.

Loved it on Wii U and would love to pick have a solid portable version. But I'll hold off and wait for a patch.

Not like I don't have plenty of other games to play instead.

I'm a little pissed off. I'm gonna have to get a pro controller for this game. I thought they were allowing the 2 joycon style for co-op in this, and after buying the game, I read that they ditched it at the last minute due to camera control. I only got this game to play co-op with my young son, and I figured the simplicity and size of the single joycon would be perfect for him. Now I have to spend the extra $70. I was going to do it in the future for MK8, but no option to wait now.

I'd recommend a second pair of joycons instead as they have more utility and are only $10 more expensive (you'll be sorted for Mario Kart 8 and two player ARMS etc).

And yeah, I hope they reconsider with a patch, because camera control isn't *that* import. I'm sure they could figure something out even if it meant only one player could scan and only one player could whistle, or whatever.

Well damn, I had high hopes for this port. I skipped it on Wii U, but got my Switch copy in yesterday. But if I'm going to have to play it docked all the time, that really kinda defeats the purpose.

Are the (marginally) better load times on Switch and improved resolution worth the $40 premium? Or should I send it back and wait for a sale or just pick up the Wii U version at some point?

I sure hope so too. My thought about the Switch was you're basically having a generally uncompromised experience when shifting between modes. Sounds like there's a fairly large gap between the two. I know docked Zelda at times would drop more often but this seems far more noticable of a performance issue than that.

Do the individual joycons bring the control adapter thing, or do I have to purchase one separately?

Yeah if handheld runs like crap I'm just returning it and getting the ps4 version. If i have to play on the big screen i may as well play the technical superior version

Sold separately unfortunately. I guess if you don't like split handed, then maybe it doesn't make the most sense to buy another pair. They do come with straps though, so there's that.

What kind of slow down are we talking about in hand held mode? I never noticed any slow down in docked Zelda even pre patch to give you an idea of how perceptive I am to slow down.

Played about an hour in handheld mode. Game is a blast with good humour. Slowdown is noticeable at times but not enough to take me out of the game. Hope for a patch but to improve performance but don't see it happening.

So I bought this for WiiU day one, and between the fact the load times were the worst I'd experienced since the early cd-rom era of PS1 and Saturn and the fact that you couldn't play the game off tv due to the way the game was designed back then, it basically meant I gave up on the game completely after the 1st hour. Was a huge Lego game fan and was bitterly disappointed by my experience

I had the cartridge preordered but got an email yesterday that it was delayed a week from the supplier I chose. Also spotted reports that despite the cartridge having greatly improved load times over WiiU that the digital download on internal memory was reduced considerably further..

Bought £50 eshop credit from cdkeys with discount came to £47ish - so ended up £10 more than the cartridge to go digital - which still annoys me, but I was willing to do that for the load time reduction...
Playing today, man the load times are really good, a couple are zeldaish long, but seriously coming off the WiiU version it's like night and day. I've already played a lot further than I ever got with that game.

Enjoying the game, some slowdown when driving, but finally the game is playable to me

I was just going to post this. I decided to spend a little more than an hour playing in handheld mode since there were folks talking about the framerate being terrible. I generally play docked, so my experience in that area wasn't there. After playing for an extended period of time and running all over the map, I can see how someone who is framerate sensitive may be a bit disappointed, but my overall experience playing that way was quite positive. Most of the time the framerate was fairly stable, but when it went down, it'd stay that way for a bit before it went back to normal. Not sure what's all about, but it wasn't too bad. The game is more than playable in handheld mode. It's really amazing how great the game looks on that screen, too. Overall, I was pretty impressed by it, but if you're one of those framerate sensitive guys, then maybe the dips might give you trouble.

Got serious burnout on the Lego games a few years back and just stopped playing them. Grabbed Lego Worlds in Early Access because it looked promising, but was disappointed with it early on. They've really turned it around in final release though, so I figured I'd grab Lego City Undercover since it was coming to PC. I'm like 4 hours in and it is a ton of fun. Looks great, and runs at a solid 60fps for me at 1440p. Very happy I took the jump back in for it.

I was pretty disappointed just now to find out this game is full price. Especially since this game came out 4 years ago on the WiiU. Unbelievable.

Yeah it's definitely playable, but in reality it really isn't acceptable that a game runs and is released with such an issue. I dread to think how co-op will impact handheld mode performance.

I think all people can do is tweet to the people involved in the game (devs, pubs etc) and hope enough attention is brought to it that some work is done to alleviate the issue.

Its very easy to see why they launched it at full price this port was not aimed at the very few people that bought it on wii u and for alot of people this game is marketed towards they might not no its a port.

Is there anyway to disable this feature so it is not always in the upper right hand corner? It is frustrating to always see that up there. Switch version not sure if that matters.

The mission in chapter 7 has a section on Switch in docked mode which drops to about 10fps. It's when you're around
the space shuttle
and there are smoke effects going on. It's really horrible and I dread to think what it's like in handheld mode. (I didn't check, I just wanted to get through it!)

Quick video of Lego City Undercover in Handheld Mode (Chapter 4) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9ndGhzEV4k

And where are the framerate problems while playing in handheld mode that everybody's been complaining about? I've been holding on buying this game even though I played it on the Wii U, just to play it in portable mode and collect everything in the game, but all the framerate problems in this thread scared me, but after watching this video, I think I'm double dipping.

Looks pretty bad to me...like its constantly fluctuating between 20-30fps. That would absolutely drive me nuts.

I guess I don't have that framerate counter eye and I'm glad I don't. I will be pissed at every single game this generation, with the small number of games that keep a steady 30 or 60 fps.

Is the game 60fps on any console (will play 1080p)? Or at least really stable on any (ps4 pro?).
There's really no excuse this game shouldn't be 60fps atleast on the Pro but it isn't since it's a lazy port. Pro version seems identical to PS4 version which will also looks near identical to Switch. They didn't optimise it to their specific hardware to which if they did they could've definitely done 60fps with Pro heck even regular PS4 since the game doesn't really look too demanding

They arent nearly as bad as some people are making them out to be. My gf and I have been playing on Switch. Theres a drop here and there but the game is pretty stable otherwise.

Amazon seems to be matching the Switch version at the discounted price, but it isn't stacking with my Amazon Prime new game discount, so it's still just $50. :(

Maybe that's just Amazon policy not to stack that discount with a sale price, but I'll check in the morning and double check if it's still working or not.

It's barebones but playable. No crashes yet for me, a couple hours in. They just released a patch, which is a good sign. Performance is good but it's not exactly a looker.

Had some major issues at launch like the in game settings didn't work.

Been patched though. Game isn't a looker on any platform but that means it easily runs at over 100fps on any half decent pc.
