Thanks for the vader pics. Not bad, but seems like a weird combo of new hope and esb. I think the black series is the best(never thought I'd say that heh)

It's based on his look at the end of Rogue One. I'd rather have a figure based on a movie that I actually liked, but to me the new BS version is still a pretty serious misfire. /shrug

Ah, ok. I didn't like R1 at all. The new BS is actually very accurate to the original

How are you guys displaying your figs? I have a 27 incher coming soon so I'm thinking about picking up a Billy case from Ikea, they look pretty nice with the glass doors.

yes! my contact found 2x mp-36's for 19000yen a piece. i read on TFW2005 a few orange plugs were glued on by hlj with super glue freaking ruining the toy.

Most of the methods of removing superglue damage plastics, but margarine is supposed to do the job and I think it should be fine?

yeah i don't know i was just reading some of the anger and freak out posts on tfw2005 of hlj supergluing it on megs. lol

people that ordered from BBTS are hoping they didn't use superglue on their orange plugs.

I added more. Hit the post button too soon.

Sakura is by Phat, Ann and Niijima are Amakuni (meaning they're exclusive), Caroline and Justine are by Aquamarine, and MC is by Kotobukiya.

What's Amakuni? I think I saw shots of that Ann statue from WF or some other event and it's stunning.

Wowowow, really? I've known about those orange caps on toy guns, but they even glue them on collector's items meant for adults?

Amakumi is another company, just like GSC or Alter. I have a couple of their figures. The only downside is that their figures are always always always exclusive.

amazon japan, chosen prime, toy dojo have been shipping megs without opening sealed boxes and gluing on orange plugs with no issues. tfw2005 guys are saying hlj doesnt want to take a chance customs sends it back to them and they have to eat shipping costs. they're doing it to protect themselves.

So, where does one buy display cases? I think I might have found a good spot for F4F Artorias but it's near the air conditioner where it sometimes drips and I want to avoid it getting dirty. Something like this.

That kind of stuff would just dissuade me from buying from HLJ even though I understand their need to protect themselves.

I saw the MP36 on BBTS and they have a long disclaimer about the item too, which was an interesting read for me, someone who is new to this kind of stuff:

WARNING: The MP-36 Megatron is an adult collectible toy and should not be used by children. Caution should be exercised when using this toy, and Megatron should never be used in a situation where it could be confused for a real weapon. Do not remove the blaze orange safety plug affixed to Megatron's barrel or silencer.

Due to United States Toy / Imitation Gun Laws, it is illegal for any business or individual to import the MP-36 Megatron because it does not have a blaze orange safety tip on the end of barrel. A copy of this law is listed at the end of this description. In order for BBTS to legally import this item, Megatron must be modified with a blaze orange safety tip at the end of the barrel. This orange tip is a custom made plastic plug that is attached to the end of the barrel and the end of the silencer. The tip will add between 1/4 and 1/2 inch in length to the end of the barrel and will not hinder the transformation between gun and robot.

Without this orange tip modification, US Customs may seize any incoming shipments for this item that they discover because it does not comply with US Laws, so we are providing a legal and risk-free solution to that problem.

This modification requires that all boxes will be opened, and the contents removed for modification. The factory tape seal will be cut, and some internal plastic packaging may be modified or cut. Collector's Grade packaging will not be available due to these modifications, and the normal Standard Grade description will not apply because the tape seals have been broken. We realize these modifications will slightly change the appearance of the toy, but we also realize that giving you a legal way to own this toy is much better than not owning it at all, or running the risk of US Customs seizing the item.

This is an aftermarket modification that does not involve Takara whatsoever; we initiated this modification to bring you an importable collectible. We will work to provide the highest quality plug addition that we can, but because this is not part of the original manufacturing process, it will not be perfect. This modification is done at no expense to you, we are paying all costs associated with this and passing nothing on to you other than the ultimate legal Megatron collectible.

Please Note: The Australian Government & Australian Customs may seize this item, please order with caution if you live in Australia.

Below is the actual law in regards to imitation toy guns/weapons. Please remember that the BBTS solution to this problem is the only legal way in the USA for you to obtain this amazing item.

I hate the idea of someone opening the box and handling my stuff, but I guess there's no way around it.

I also want Hot Toys Darth Vader...For a friend.

OK, I am at least interested in picking one up as a birthday gift for one. Problem is I'm not sure how much hell dig it or which version to go for.

I asked months ago, but haven't heard or seen anything since... Has THIS gone up for pre-order yet?

Doesn't seem so. It's not uncommon for what seems to be a complete figure to disappear for years.

I mean you're gonna be looking at the aftermarket at this rate. Smarter to just wait for whenever they decide to release their 1/6 ESB/ROTJ Vader then hunt the Rogue One or ANH version down. I know they have a 1/4 version coming at some point too, hoping to get a look at it when I'm at Celebration.

I will not support your addiction as you didn't support my Harley desires

I support good Harley desires not Suicide Squad garbage like if I said I wanted to buy a Hot Toys BvS Batmobile someone here would be like, "Bruh don't do" and that's being a pal.

Any way to know when they come back in stock? I have plenty of time as his birthday is late into the year.

Not like you need anyone's support to go on a buying frenzy, you filthy consumer.

Bleh. It was very subjective when that last page listed it as "reservations coming SOON". I guess not :/

Just to be sure, you meant that G&G Arthur, right? Because yeah, none of the major sites I looked up had him.

They're not? The ANH Vader was already rereleased and sold out and I don't think HT has ever done a third release of a figure unchanged. The Rogue One Vader seemed to always be intended as a more limited release so I don't think you'll see that one again. Pretty sure your best bet is to start waiting on whatever they decide to make their next Vader figure.

Still waiting for ESB Vader to display with my ESB Luke.

Misread, thought there was already a ESB version. Any idea of when that might come?

I miss those days. Now everything is $200+ without anything special.

I don't follow HT much but weren't they always around $200+?

With TLJ figures on the horizon I'm not sure but knowing HT they won't miss out on the most popular Star Wars character in a slightly different outfit.

They hovered around that price, but you used to get quite a bit more for the money. I mean the ESB Luke figure retailed for $300, came with two complete figures, one normal and one battle damaged, a weather vane, exclusive Vader helmet with Luke face. Now a lot of their stuff pushes $300 for one figure. I got into HT at the tail end of their pricing not being outrageous, but I look at a lot of the Marvel offerings now and just can't get into it like I used to. Like the Jyn Erso deluxe figure they're doing is $250, and for $50 more I was able to get a whole second figure in a set.

I actually haven't gotten an HT figure this year I don't think. Resistance Rey was the last one I received. Probably will buy one at Celebration though.
