Tekken 7 Gameplay Modes Trailer

Full length story mode has my attention. For those who have been following the game closely, is this legit meaty story further than previous Tekkens?

I sure still like Tekken after all these years but 6 kind of came and went quickly for me as there wasn't any decent context to the fighting.

Tekken 6 was the first time the series had a meaty story mode but I didn't really like the beat em' up gameplay approach. I was never a fan of Tekken Force. This looks to be a much more streamline story mode that retells all the best parts of past Tekken stories, while concluding the Mishima story, and focuses on cinematic 1v1 fights.

Oh yeah, if you're caught saying that they pull your card. Immediately.

Jin turned fake heel and caused a war to draw out Azazel and then sacrificed himself to kill him.
Was Azazel that big of a threat?

Jin caused an awful lot of destruction/death to get him.

They've added a couple of unique and often times good-looking costumes for each character throughout the arcade version's life, but unfortunately that's largely padded by crap ported over from Tag 2, which mostly fits your description. They've also kept Tag 2's simplified portioning, where rather than having gloves and shirts separate, or being able to choose an undershirt and a jacket separately, it's just Top, and Bottom. There seem to be a lot of categories for the head though, which is odd.

It sucks. I was worried about this way back after the first few location tests. I tried tweeting Harada about it several times, but he never responded to those. Now I get to see it come to fruition.

At least everything else looks on point.

Didn't Zafina sacrifice herself to keep Azazel in his prison which is why she isn't in Tekken 7?

I remember she was like some guardian with an important task or something.

Thanks.
It's funny how you can sum up the plot of Tekken games into like a sentence or 2:
Tekken 1: Heihachi holds a martial arts tournament, and his son enters to take him down and become president of his company

Tekken 2: Kazuya holds a martial arts tournament, and his father enters to take him down and reclaim his company. Also Devil Gene or something

Tekken 3: Heihachi holds a martial arts tournament to draw out Ogre, but Paul didn't defeat him and Jin's Devil Gene awakens.

Tekken 4: Kazuya returns and Heihachi holds a tournament where he fights the winner while wearing a diaper while donning a fundoshi. Also Nina is now a MILF, maybe.

Tekken 5: "Heihachi Mishima. Is dead", but not really and Heihachi's dad shows up for some reason

Tekken 7: Prince and David Bowie got beefHeihachi and Kazuya start a worldwide war just to settle their score. Also Gouki is in this.

Absolutely stunning, both in visual fidelity and content.

I know it took a damn long time for it's console release, but i'd rather prefer my fighting games in a complete package state instead of what's going on with SF5 & MvCI.

Here's Heihachi's for example. Half is good, half is shirts. I notice there's a star ranking through so I'm gonna assume the lower ranked ones are generic stuff but we'll see. Either way, we know what we want. We want the cool shit. The generic stuff is lame as hell and a waste but I guess they gotta do something.
I forgot about the main story. So much of it was focused on Lars slowly falling in love with his robot waifu.
Yeah. I really forgot about how they really tried to give Lars that Roman Reigns push for the entire game while also giving him a girlfriend.

Who knows because honestly Jin destroyed him on his own. Jin just started glowing and then did one punch before doing some suicide bomb shit. It wasn't even a legit fight.

Lars was just standing around watching while it happened too. It was weird.

Thanks.

You forgot about Kazumi coming in to put an end to the bloodline. Also Akuma is gonna help do it.
Xbox 1 will be the real graveyard. PS4 will have the lion's share of players but I think PC will still have a decent community.

I think Xbox will be fine. MKX and KI have a healthy online.

I completely forgot about her lol.

Yep lmao.

RIP Heihachi at the end of 7. I don't see him surviving.

Seems story mode will flashback to relevant moments from the series where you fight NPCs. The example in the trailer is the end of T4/beginning of T5 when Heihachi and Kazuya are ambushed by Jack-4s.

I think you'll be able to play through famous story bits from past Tekken games. They already revealed that you'll play as kid Kazuya fighting a young Heihachi, before getting thrown into the volcano, and they showed in the trailer Heihachi fighting through an ambush of Jacks that were trying to kill him from T5.
Thanks for clarifying. Would be interesting to see all the variety the game offers in the end.

Tekken 3: Heihachi holds a martial arts tournament to draw out Ogre, but Paul didn't defeat him and Jin's Devil Gene awakens.
Iirc wasn't Hwoarang the canon winner of T3 and the only non-Mishima to ever win the title?

At least there's a scroll bar, but I see two, maybe three things that are unique to Heihachi (ie, designed as something Heihachi the character might actually wear) in that picture. The rest is the generic crud ported directly from TTT2 and the same exact ill-fitting t-shirt model 9 times with different decals.

I don't see Heihachi, Kazuya, and Kazumi surviving. I feel like theres gonna be a twist with Akuma.

My guess:
Akuma is Kazuya's real father, which is why Heihachi always despised him and killed Kazumi.

I mean if people found SF5's Story mode to be corny/cheesy Saturday morning cartoon fare, I don't see how they can be excited for T7's story mode unless they (secretly) liked the theme of SF5's story mode.
I mean hell...have people never seen the PS3 era Tekken CGI movie?

Curious about that treasure mode, looking forward to finding out more about it as I don't plan to play this online.
Hopefully you can still download new ghosts.
Still a shame they axed a lot of the other single player modes like survival and gold rush.

So King got beat up every time he was on screen? Sounds right :(

How is the DS4 dpad, I really haven't tried it much so far, I only own GG and have hardly payed it. Better than DS3? Worse? Will it kill my fingers?

It's excellent for fighting games. I've been using it when playing PS3 games, super comfortable.

It's kinda stiff which can make your thumb sore.

I've honestly been in for a good, long time with this game. I haven't really gotten into a Tekken game since Tekken 5's North American debut. I owned Tekken 6 but never really got into it, and passed on Tag Tournament 2 all-together (I always did eyeball picking it up, though).

Been hearing nothing but great things about this one for ages now... Real excited to jump in when it comes out.

Because Tekken has a history of being a campy story. I want kids dropped into volcanoes, edgy men fighting, and an intelligent bears shenanigans in the same game.

I guess people found sfvs story bad because they expected it to be serious. I liked sfvs story mode. Zangiefs muscle power gags were hilarious

Won't somebody please tell me what the PSVR functionality in this game is? Whether or not I buy this game entirely depends on it.

MvCI is already released ? Where ??

Going from SF5 failure launch and it's current at most mediocre state, i'm confident they'll fuck up Infinite somehow. As if the mobile phone graphics/animations and one of the game's main antagonist being a part of the 6 character DLC lineup isn't enough to go off already, and all before Capcom have actually released raw gameplay... Priorities are clearly in check.

On topic, I feel if they're going to have every opening/ending from the entire series on all platforms, then they really should also give everyone access to the classic BGM jukebox. Feels like they're not imagining a scenario where someone who played all the exclusive PlayStation Tekken games, could now be primarily a PC or Xbox One player.

Is the character customization as good as tekken 6? You had more separate clothing for different body parts.

Sadly no. It's pretty much that same as TTT2 if you played that. Lots of generic shared t-shirts and the like, and most outfits are just divided into top and bottom. Some are even treated as single pieces.

Dunno why the step backward. I figured they had a few good excuses for Tag 2; more characters on screen, and more characters in general to make customs for. But Tekken 7 has been in development for years with a smaller roster than Tekken 6, and they're still using that Tag 2 method.
