United Airlines has reached a settlement agreement with the passenger who was bloodied and dragged down the aisle of a plane after refusing to give up his seat, attorneys for the passenger said Thursday.

Dr. David Dao, 69, of Elizabethtown, Ky., suffered a concussion, broken nose and sinus injury during the April 9 incident on a plane at Chicago O'Hare International Airport, according to his attorney, Thomas Demetrio.

Demetrio praised United for accepting responsibility for the incident and announcing policy changes aimed at preventing similar incidents.

"For this acceptance of corporate accountability, United is to be applauded," Demetrio said.

Good for him, got paid that good hush money for sure. He should send some of that money to the people who recorded what happened, if not for them he wouldn't have gotten all that.

If I was one of the people that left the flight peacefully without a fight, I would feel like such a sucker.

Considering just how bad the fuckup was, the fact that the victim is a doctor who probably wouldn't be blindsided by a pittance under seven figures, and that the plaintiff's attorney is "applauding United," hoo boy, that must have been a big number. I'd bet north of $10M.

EDIT: I'll also say, in the last week or so, I've heard a lot of people say that they'll never fly United again. Just this week, I had to buy a flight for my fiancée and I, and the cheapest flight was United. We decided to pay an extra $50 to fly Porter instead.

i've been begging for over 5 years.
The amount of the settlement will likely be confidential but I'm guessing north of 5 mil.

Bummer, I was really hoping that they would take this to court and perhaps set a legal precedent to prevent this from happening in the future.

They weren't police I thought?

They were Chicago Aviation department police, just not Chicago Police Department officers.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

Knowing the airline industry this could very well happen again.

I wonder how much he got? I was just a juror on a personal injury (for a car accident) case and we gave the plaintiff $120k. But I bet it was a lot more considering all the publicity around this case.

There's not enough money in the world to make getting my head slammed in worth it.

I can always find ways to make money, but my brain and mental health is irreplaceable.

And have my face slammed into an airplane armrest, and have a concussion, and a couple teeth fucked up?

Yeah, least a million, and free 1st class flights forever.

Nah dude, who the hell wants to get their ass beat? Other than that one guy in the thread.

People have had their shit kicked in over the contents of their wallets. Lots of people would love to get beat up and get a 6-7 digit settlement.
