Fuck I hope so. Love Monster Hunter but was so done with it being held back by its platform choices.

What...

How is paying for exclusivity a good thing?

I hope it is multiplatform.

Edit: even if it has been exclusive, more platforms would allow the IP to grow.

I don't see any mention of it being exclusive, though. Wouldn't it make most sense to be PS4/Switch to cover both the Western and Eastern market leading platforms?

Vita : Mama Sony, please give me Monster Hunter !

Sony : Hey look I bought monster hunter ...

Vita : =D

Sony : .... for the PS4

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
That would be a colossal blow to Nintendo and may singlehandedly reduce Switch sales estimates.

How credible is the original source?

Even if this was true they'd have to be banking heavily on the worldwide audience to make up the sales. A huge part of why MH is big in Japan is specifically because it's portable.

That's the problem though; Capcom doesn't make sensible decisions lately.

Yeah, you know, come to think of it this would be such a Capcom decision it almost seems believable.

While I have been wanting a higher fidelity console version for sometime, as a recent Switch owner, I would have liked to have it on the system. Either way, i'll be picking it up day 1 for whatever console it comes out on.

While I personally would like that because seeing a MH in better hardware would be cool, I highly doubt this rumor is real.

This would be huge in Japan! I really doubt it though. Then again they're in a position where they have leverage.

Actually I think Japan would be pissed. Portables are much more popular and that's one of the biggest pros of Monster Hunter over there.

If it moves to Switch it would be a lot easier to port to PS4.

Though that doesn't gel with the "locked up" comment which sounds absolutely absurd. It's going to be on some kind of handheld/mobile platform for sure.

Yeah I was thinking it would be on Switch and PS4... exclusive to PS4 seems suspect unless Sony is planning some portable PS4 or something.

There's no chance Capcom doesn't release Monster Hunter on a portable in Japan. None.

It could be Switch and PS4 but never PS4 only.

Hmm. I have no interest in Monster Hunter, but I kind of doubt this is true. Seems like it'd be extremely expensive for Capcom to bring it to home consoles properly, and they don't seem interested in doing that. Especially with the state of home console gaming being so poor in Japan right now.

If true though, I wonder how much Sony paid up for an exclusive like this. Might as well dig a bit deeper and just buy Capcom outright.

I dont care if it's exclusive, just that PS4 is the lead platform and it takes full advantage of its power. Done with old school MonHunt, so much could be done with the concept.
A PS4 developed Monster Hunter would probably not take full advantage of its power.

Asset creation at the level you're describing for a Monster Hunter game would end up with like... 10 monsters.

Japan would definitely be more pissed than a couple posters on gaf if this was the case.Unless it's multiplatform.
