I'll take 30FPS as long as it's 4K. There really is no excuse for it being 30FPS and capped to 1080p in this day and age. Give me 4K30FPS, and I'll be happy.

I wish this subjective nonsense wouldn't get trotted out constantly on this board. It's factually incorrect - devs prioritize what matters, and games can be great at 30 or 60.
Games usually play better at 60fps, but there are good examples of developers who can deliver an excellent control experience at 30fps even in a racing game.. Stable is mostly what matters. As for "look," again I wish subjective statements wouldn't get trotted out as factual truth here. If anything, I imagine more players - particularly casuals - will feel an effects-heavy 30fps experience will "look" better. Point is, both can look great.

You're right, but people seem to notice it less than others, or they would rather pretend the difference wasn't there, and some just want the best shiny IQ even if it means the game runs like OoT.

Remaster collection makes sense. Honestly when Ubisoft did the Far Cry Compilation in 2014 I wondered why it wasn't a remaster collection for PS4 and Xbox One. Far Cry 3 ran like shit on PS3 and Xbox 360, and with Far Cry 2 there was a larger-than-normal visual gap between the PC and console versions.
Still, I feel like the next actual Far Cry needs to be a huge leap over the last few. It can't just repeat the formula of 3, 4, and Primal in a new setting. I know Primal was current-gen-only but it was still based on the last-gen design of FC4 right? FC5 needs to feel like a real next-gen leap for the series.

Absolutely agreed. They've done the same game 4 times now (3, 4, BD, Primal). They can't run it back again for a 5th try. It needs to be a huge leap, like you said, and try some new stuff that moves the franchise forward, not some warmed over shit like the half-assed pet dreck from Primal.

Hopefully this one isn't a collectathon shitfest like 4, Primal and (I assume) 3 (haven't played it). Primal in particular would have been much better if they built from the foundation of Far Cry 2.

You know everything you probably dislike about Far Cry 3 and forward? That's in the game. The few redeeming aspects (namely combat that isn't shit) is gone in Primal. Primal's combat system makes Skyrim seem like Devil May Cry, and it's not like the world is interesting. Or the quests are good. Or the writing is good. Or the - you get it.
One of - if not the worst - AAA games I've had the misfortune of playing. I even tried it on survival mode or whatever just to play it differently but it still requires you to use the x-ray vision bs that's in every uninspired AAA game these days among other issues.

Picked up a 6800 Ultra primarily just to play it. Still personally think it is the best in the series, but it is also the first one I experienced. Was nothing quite like it at the time, and I vividly remember just swimming with fish for at least 30 minutes before even playing the actual game.

Those franchises are solid because they're good games. Saying "Will they forget about their shitty formula and make a good game?" is not the same as saying "I want to see them go in a new direction with Far Cry." It's just a shitty hyperbolic drive-by post.

On topic, I love the FC series to death, probably one of the most consistent series Ubi has under their belt despite some feeling like they tread similar ground to each other. I would love for a brand new one but id be lying if I said I wouldnt pick up a remaster of 3 day one, assuming the upgrade is worth it.
