Oh, this is supposedly just a port? Not very hyped in that case, will still get it, though. I'd love to stash my Wii U away and never see it again.

It's more than likely an enhanced port with all the DLC and possibly new characters ala Mario kart 8 Deluxe, but we don't really know.

A lot of his YT followers don't follow his Twitter to see all his horrible views on things.

I actually stopped watching his preview videos a couple of years ago, since he was so mean to the guy he played with. It just wasn't fun to watch.

Yes. It's a hoax by Josh Thomas.

Is there any proof of that or is it just a "this seems like a thing he'd do" thing? I know everyone just kind of honed in on that conclusion but I'm not sure if anything ever came up which solidly backed it up.

You see all the sources calling this fake? Ask yourself how they would know.

Someone told them, and told them who was behind it too.

I wish Josh Thomas was a hoax by Josh Thomas :/

This may be the best post in the thread.

I mean... it's getting to a point where I'm beginning to believe that "being a right-wing cockbag" is considered a prerequisite to being an internet personality who talks about video games. There's very little out there that I can support now.

But since we know this is a hoax, should we not update the thread title and close the thread?

Not trying to suggest that I think it's unlikely that he did it or anything. It just feels like I missed part of the conversation where a positive connection was made.

I hated Smash Run and only played it enough to get the achievements involving it (which was a lot IIRC). If the Switch version ends up just being a port of mostly the WiiU version with Smash Run included and no other new characters/modes that would be worst case scenario for me. Like if that were the case I'd rather just wait another couple years for them to make a whole new game tbh since I still have my WiiU.

So that's probably what it will be lol.

Well Josh Thomas has a series of youtube videos where he imagines concepts for future games and uses computer modeling to visualize them (His Animal Crossing one is here). The leaked screenshots are totally something he would make especially that Paper Mario stage.

I mean... series is a stretch. He did two and got upset when views on the second one were so low.

I'm sure we'll get a few more new characters. IC, Wolf, and newcomers like Inklings and possibly ARMS are a good chance. I do think Smash will get the MK8 treatment, with 3DS stages to be added.

And he should. He deserves it.

And he gets it without the mental gymnastics of "elemental balance" or "unique fighter".

Sure, wanting the last remaining starter type to be playable is mental gymnastics, especially when it has a great design and immensely popular second type.

And lol at "unique fighter" being mental gymnastics.

The GameXplain guys are cool. At least enough to be hated by persona non grata Josh "picks fights with the voice actor of Mario" Thomas.

Basically, anyone who has a personal beef with Joshy boy is probably a cool person who you should like and subscribe.

Get your furry shit out of here.

not sure what's this supposed to mean

I mean if it's meant to slight Incineroar, you clearly haven't seen bipedal owlman Decidueye's "furry shit"

Well, what would you call an attempt to force "elemental parity"? It's as bad back in Pokken character wishing with people wanting to "complete" the set.

So it's not mental gymnastics but some sort of need to "complete" the set?

Decidueye would be cool but I think this guy might take the spot

Yes, because what Smash needs is another Fire-Starter as a Grappler ...with Decidueye all three starter types would be present and all of them would represent different archetypes (Grappler, Speedster, Zoner), so he makes the most sense.

It's more normal in this case because we're talking about Smash which trying to represent Pokémon as a series. There are two starters in the game, it would be nice if the third to be included were the type that's not already there. Both for the sake of the variety as well as because "rock paper scissors" typing starter trios are a very iconic thing in Pokémon, and Smash does not feature that yet. I'm aware that other type triangles like this exist, but the Grass/Fire/Water one is iconic by virtue of the starters.

So yeah I guess it's a bit to "complete the set," but it's frankly a set worth completing. And Decidueye happens to be a great candidate due to the fact that it's visually unique, has a wealth of potential for a moveset that could translate well into Smash, and (this one is personal) is Ghost, which is a Pokémon type Smash hasn't explored yet.

Ultimately I just think the character is a great fit for the game, but there's no doubt that there's an appeal to having a Grass, Fire, and Water starter. It's not necessarily "forcing elemental parity," it's wanting to see more types playable in Smash because people like variety.

Maturity, bitches.
Clearly the proof that they're fake is because Gamexplain have details on the real smash 4 switch and the screenshots are missing the new character.

While I thought about this last night, the one bit of info I found odd was it was for a July issue. If that was the case, it was getting the magazine ready for post E3 meaning it would imply an E3 showing for Smash. Would Nintendo really reveal the Smash port without at least one new character and if they had, why no sign of them in the screenshots.

Of course by the time I got back home I saw most people had decided it was a fake anyway so I just went to bed since I wasn't really going to waste my time dissecting something that had already been through the wringer.

That and I found something off about the warp pipe.

Wanting another Grass Pokemon is kind of like people wanting to have a sword, lance and axe fighter from Fire Emblem to represent FE's "rock paper scissors" set. ....Atleast Pokemon already has two of the three in the roster already :D

I'll accept whatever new character at this point, but a bird-like creature that has the properties of both grass and ghost sounds like a pretty neat combination tbh

three starters actually

Smash featured the rock-paper-scissors elemental thing last time. And well all know it was garbage. Increased damage on certain types of attacks was really dumb. Honestly if people really wanted to, it should have been a three-man army of Trainer's Pokemon fighting at the same time.

Pikachu barely counts, and you're sidestepping most of what I said and being a bit obtuse.

People don't want elemental weakness in the game, they want one of each of what are arguably the most iconic types in Pokémon playable. It's not hard to see why. Starters are the first Pokémon many people get to own, so it's REALLY not difficult to understand this sentiment.

I mostly stick to Jim Sterling (I end up agreeing with him by the end of his videos more often than I don't, so it works for me) and Arlo, if only because a puppet talking about video games is AWESOME. Like, I would pay good money to have him conducting on-camera interviews at E3.

Hmm, those Swimsuits reminds me...

We need Waluigi in a British 1900's Swimsuit, make it happen for Switch Nintendo.

Oh and Wario in a Speedo, but that is a non argument really.
